In October, 1899, William Irvine led an experimental group of 8 young men to Scotland to work a mission, putting into practice the Matt.10 instructions Jesus gave the 12 disciples. A notation on some copies of this photo reads: "Picture taken in Ireland before these men professed." The dates they entered the work, and the names of the men are printed on some copies of this picture: Gill-1900; 3. George Walker-1899; 4. John Hardy-1900; 5. Wm Ervin (William Irvine) pre-1899; 6. William (Bill) Carroll-1903; 7. Irvine Weir-1900; 8. Warren Hastings (no date given)." NOTE: According to the The Secret Sect by Doug & Helen Parker, p. 90, Sam Boyd accompanied William Irvine on his first mission trip to Scotland in 1899. Basilio Alvarez lived in Argentina. In 1920 he became acquainted with a brother worker, Jack Jackson and learned English from him, and Jack learned Spanish from Basilio. Later Basilio professed and went in the work. In 1951, when Franco ruled over Spain, there was an opportunity to go to Spain if you were of Spanish origin. Robert Barbour, Archie Turner, Nelson Retchford. Robert Barbour from New Zealand, began as Overseer of South Australia in 1946. Archie Turner pioneered Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland in 1928, He labored in Canada; Overseer of Queensland Australia 1959-1971 and was Overseer of Scotland 1971. Nelson Retchford from South Australia entered work in 1924, preached mostly in India and South Australia He was one of pioneers to Burma (Myanmar) and he died in 1989. - Benton Arthur (Group)

Eddie Cornock, Dave Lyness and Sam Charlton. Ed Cornock was overseer of Colorado from some time in the 1920s until his death in 1972. Dave Lyness entered work in 1904 and came to America to preach. After about 20 years in the work he married Jane Atcheson in 1930, lived in Tacoma and died in Pierce Co. Washington USA. ________________________ (Dave was brother of Annie & Tom Lyness who were also workers and pioneered the work in Idaho/Montana). All 3 Lyness siblings were on the 1905 Workers List. ________________________ Sam was Overseer in Nebraska, Wisconsin and Michigan, his last and longest field being Michigan from 1926 until his death in 1969. - Christie,Dave tent Hawaii
Christie, David (Dave) & Emma "Emily" F. (nee Wilson) Dave was born May 31, 1884, in Rathmolyon, Ireland; died Sept 30, 1969, in Multnomah Co., Oregon. Emily was born May 8, 1883, in Co. Fermanagh, N. Ireland; died Feb. 10, 1975, in Multnomah Co., Oregon. Dave entered work in 1905 per 1905 Workers List; He labored in Scotland, N. Ireland, Hawaii, California, Maryland, Michigan They are on 1926-27 List in Hawaii; on 1946-1947 Workers List in Hawaii Married Nov. 27, 1923 in Port Angeles, Clallam Co. Washington. Two children: Betty and Dave. Both were workers who married without permission. Dave was a cousin of Jack Carroll, who made an announcement and statement concerning workers marrying at the 1923 Milltown Convention. They pioneered the work in Hawaii. - GW, WG, JC, EC-SS orig

John Hardie1900 John Hardie was from Scotland and became Overseer in Australia. He is on the 1905 Workers List and helped pioneer Victoria and New South Wales. - Jackson, Jack
Jack Jackson was from Ireland and entered the work in 1901 He labored in North America for a number of years. Then along with Glenn Smith [Nebraska], Herbert Vitzthum [Minnesota] and [Maurice Hawkins from Maryland], he arrived in Buenos Aires on Dec. 19, 1919, after 28 days at sea from New York. Elisabeth Jamieson, William Jamieson, Annie Lyness Two of his sisters, Violet and Elizabeth also became workers. and all 3 of them are on the 1905 Workers List. _____________________________________ Willie Rankin Jamieson (Uncle Willie) was born April 28, 1881, in Scotland, to William and Elizabeth Jamieson. Willie professed in his first meeting on Jan. 2, 1905 and later that month, entered the ministry. In the fall of that year, he went to California to preach and also labored in Oregon before going to China in 1926 where he PIONEERED the work. He spent six years in the Philippines, from 1939 to 1945, being interned in a Japanese camp part of that time. He came to California in March, 1957, died October 11, 1974 and is buried in California. ____________________ Annie Lyness came to America in 1904 with her brother, Tom and they pioneered the work in Montana and Idaho. - Jamieson, William w/dog
Willie Rankin Jamieson was born April 28, 1881, in Scotland and died Friday October 11, 1974 age 93. He entered the ministry in 1905 and worked until 1926 as an evangelist in Oregon and Manitoba, Canada. He was a missionary worker in China from 1926 to 1939 and in the Philippines from 1939 to 1945. He was one of several workers interned in Santo Tomas, Philippines. He returned to missionary work after his release from the Los Baños internment camp. After 1957, he resided in California where he succeeded Jack Carroll as Overseer of some of the Western USA Christian Convention Church (2x2s). He passed away October 11, 1974 and is buried at Pacific Crest Cemetery, Redondo Beach, CA. Funeral service for William Jamieson. Willie professed in his first meeting on Jan. 2, 1905 and later that month, entered the ministry. In the fall of that year, he went to California to preach and also labored in Oregon before going to China in 1926 where he PIONEERED the work. The three Jardine Brothers came from Lanarkshire, Scotland and all of them were workers. James (1884-1969), Walter (1890-1970), Nichol (1883-1954). James pioneered Switzerland and Germany. The Jardine brothers were from Lanarkshire, Scotland, entered the work in 1904 and pioneered Switzerland and Germany. James (Jim) Jardine was born 1884, and died 1969. He wrote several Hymns in 'Hymns Old & New'. He pioneered Germany along with Otto Schmidt in 1913. Two other brothers were also in the work in American: Walter and Nichol. (Names in random order.) The three Jardine brothers were long-time overseers in the North Central states; Walter in North Dakota, Jim in Minnesota and Nicol in Wisconsin where that area became widely known as "Jardine territory." Tom Lyness (born August 9, 1883 - died 1970) He and Annie Lyness were Irish siblings and came to America in 1905; Tom PIONEERED the work in Idaho and Montana and became an Early Overseer of Montana. In 1931, he was shot and seriously wounded in Bozeman, Montana by a jealous husband and not expected to live. He recovered, however, and continued preaching for many years. - Lyness, Tom & Annie

Alfred Magowan and his sister, Harriet. He was born Oct. 24, 1883 in Drumgor, Armagh, Ireland to James and Jane (McNabb) Magowan. He professed in 1902 and entered the work in 1907; he came to America to preach and was later excommunicated. Alfred Magowan died Nov. 13, 1960 in Portadown, Armagh, N. The first workers to go to Prince Edward Island in 1907 were Willie McAllister (in photo) from England and Willie Snedden from Scotland. Willie McAllister left the work and married Rebecca Ruth Allingham. - McClure, Dick (1911)
Dick McClure pioneered Sydney, Australia with John Hardie in 1907 Dick McClure was one of eight workers left Liverpool, England on the SS Orwestry Grange on Nov. 13, 1906, arriving in Wellington, NZ on Jan. 30, 1907 - Micheletos, John & Annie
John Micheletos married Annie McBride. Both were in the work and together they pioneered the work in Greece. John was imprisoned there several times, as proselytizing was against the law. She died in 1948 and he in 1966. Photo taken in 1960. - Mitchell, Alec 1955

In 1919 after he was discharged from the service, he became a worker, and in 1933, he and Dan Leighty were the first to go preach in Mexico. Em Punke and Ernst Reiman Em Punke arrived in Germany in 1924-25. His first companion was Ernst Reimann. Ern Punke professed in 1913 and started in the Work in 1919. After five years in SA went to Germany with Olga Hasting and Frieda Schmidt in 1924. He spent several years prior to WW2 in Austria, then during the War (1939-1945) preached in Switzerland. He had difficulty getting permission to visit Australia after the War and returned to Austria. He married Finny who went into the Work with him. They spent several years in SA during the 1950s and returned to Germany in 1959 where Ern died in 1964. - Reid, Wilson 2

EDWIN (EDDIE) SCHAER Edwin Schaer was born in Switzerland but emigrated to USA at an early age. He professed in 1909 in Willie Jamieson and Jim Martin's mission at Mountaindale, Oregon. Sometime in the 1920o's, after WWI ended, the first four workers pioneered the work in Switzerland. They were Edwin Schaer from America; Katie Hay from Canada; and George and Lottie Wix (brother and sister) from New Zealand. He was the Overseer of Switzerland until he passed away in the 1960’s. - Schaer, Eddie

Alexander (Sandy) Scott. (1886-1968) He married Eva Scott (nee Idso, Iowa) and they preached in Italy after WW II ended. Sandy was from Scotland and went into the work in 1909. Reportedly, Sandy felt it was expedient to marry in order to reach more people with the gospel in Italy, and so he married Eva. His name is on Workers List for Italy in 1956. He labored in Scotland, USA and Canada. and also pioneered the work in Spain in 1933. Sandy wrote many of the hymns in Hymns Old & New as per hymn author booklet. Nos. 68, 73, 101, 127, 167, 188, 242, 245, 304, 323, 327, 335. (Re No. 245 this is sometimes mistaken for similar hymn by John Oxenham). He is buried near Chelan, Washington, USA.
