HOW TO PICK FRESH BLUEBERRIES:   Peak Season:  June thru August.
Blueberries do NOT ripen after picking. Look for berries that are firm, dry, plump, smooth skinned.  They should be deep purple-blue to blue-black.  Reddish berries aren’t ripe.

Store fresh berries covered in refrigerator and wash just before using.  Use within 10 days of purchasing.  Freeze in containers—not bags, so berries won’t get crushed.  Freeze on pan in single layer and pour into container, and they won’t stick together—can easily get out as many as you want.
