According to both the 1881 and 1891 census records the Irvine
family lived in Auchinstarry Rows in Cumbernauld, Scotland

Wm Irvine, age 18, was shown living here with his parents in 1881.
He was the son of John Irvine and worked as an Ironstone Miner.

To accommodate the large workforce needed for the growing
coal and ironstone mining in thearea, five rows of houses were built.

The establishment of the miners rows created
a vibrant new community.
