In 1995, Vietnam became a separate jurisdiction from China and Overseer Jim Chafee left Vietnam at that time. The Canadian Workers took over--which was the beginning of the present distress. Polly and Frances Hodgins were sisters; Frances Hodgins went in the work in 1905, and in Oct. 1905, Francis and her brother, Jim Hodgins were among the first group of 8 workers to PIONEER work in New Zealand. Francis returned to England in 1910 and preached for several more years. She then left the work and married. Polly (Mary) Hodgins along with Lizzie Sergent were the first pair of sister workers to Queensland in January 1907, at which time there were only six other workers in Australia. - Hogg, Jean
Jean Hogg was from Victoria, Australia and started in the work in 1944 She went to Sri Lanka in 1947. In 1957 she crossed to Malaysia and spent the next 20 years there. In 1976 she returned to Victoria. - Holland Dora & Harry
Dorathy "Dora" Holland (January 1, 1876, in Galway, Ireland – August 1, 1968). She entered the work in 1902. Along with 16 other workers, she arrived in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, aboard the SS Virginian on August 4, 1905. Her brother, Henry "Harry," (February 6, 1877, in Galway, Ireland – died April 30, 1967) He preached in North and South Dakota. Buried beside each other, the two siblings share a tombstone in Graceland Cemetery, Madison, South Dakota, US. Harry Holland left Ireland and came to America in 1899. Notice the ascot necktie he's wearing. There were at least 8 children in the Holland family and 6 of them became workers. Harry's sister Dora Holland was the very FIRST person to ever profess through William Irvine and that was in Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland in 1896. Harry wrote in 1966: "So many of our fellow workers have gone, yet I am still living. I will be 89 years old on February 6th. My sister, Dora, was 90 on January 1st. She was the FIRST PERSON TO PROFESS in Ireland, but that was before the Gills and the Carrolls decided and before George Walker decided.
