John Long with one of his bicycles, his standard mode of transportation for his mission work. His son, also named John Long, recalled that his Father used a bicycle, and only returned home about once every six weeks. - John Long-headshot
John Long was born on September 15, 1872 in Burntwood, Cloughjordan, County Tipperary, [Ireland], to Gilbert and Ann (Turner) Long. He died in 1962, at age 90. He is shown on the 1905 Workers List as entering in the work in 1899 and he was excommunicated from it in 1907 by Wm. Irvine. On December 25, 1920, Christmas Day, John married Maggie Keegan from Gorey, Co. Wexford. He was 48 years old, and she was 28 years old. More details are on TTT. - J. G. Govan, Founder

James Irvine was an Uncle to William Irvine, He was born in 1827, and married Jane Wilson. In 1862, they left Scotland for a better life in New Zealand on SS Mataura and arrived in Dunedin NZ in 1863. They possibly founded a canning factory known as the House of St. George. His nephew, William's brother, James (married to Catherine/Kate Halkett) also emigrated to New Zealand, as well as William's son, Archibald. James Irvine died in 1913
