Although the mother of James Irvine is given as Elizabeth Bryson rather than Grassom, all the other details are correct and match the ages in the 1891 Census entry. The error is probably due to the recorder mishearing the name.
NOTE:  Kate was called Catherine in the 1891 Census.

James and Catherine (Kate) Irvine emigrated to New Zealand in 1900. The Manifest of the Steamship Whakatane records that James Irvine with his wife Catherine departed from London on July 19, 1900 and were expected to arrive in Auckland New Zealand on September 10, 1900. 
Lived in Dunedin, Otago, NZ.
Had no children
James died March 11, 1928, age 63 in Wingatui, Otago. 
Catherine/Kate died August 26, 1940, age 77 in Dunedin, Otago.
Both are buried in the same plot: Block 110, Plot 31 in Andersons Bay Cemetery
