My dear Jack;

I had intended writing more, but had an attack of LaGrippe, which took 10 days out of my trip and 14 lbs. out of my skin, for which I am thankful in some ways. Same kind of an attack I had on Sea in June 1910. I shall take same care and try to get my kidneys in condition, as I suspect that has something to do with my trouble.

The voyage has so far been good, only 3 days very cold and stormy, but am glad the Tenniswoods did not come, for there are so many things to consider that one does not see very far ahead.

We stayed 24 hours in Tahiti, a nice people but very much in danger of being spoiled. We had some Naturopath people on board, seeking a place to live the simple life of wearing no clothes and eating nothing but uncooked foods. I saw the pioneer there, poor chap; No God, no anything, but man, and that a poor specimen.

Have had a few opportunities for doing a little and have used them, but have been quiet rather than noisy, seeking to recuperate for future service. We call at Raratonga tomorrow. We have 40 Canakas (or Cankeas?) on board—they seem a nice class, several Chinese and Japs. French control Tahiti; New Zealand controls Raratonga. R. C. and Mormons have a good deal of influence among the people, but I’d not waste much time on these when so many others are in the way of perishing.

I trust you may have a good year. Seek to be what will make you helpful to others where ever you go. I think you may go back with the Tennsiwoods and have meetings in Alberta, after Manitoba, Minneapolis or dist., and Mich. Convention. You can arrange this as best you can, either coming or going, and let me hear. Tom Craig is going home this year. You would need to give them time to arrange ahead. I would try to have 4 days, at least, meeting at each place, and make this do in place of conventions next year, so that we will have conventions the next spring.

Be sane, sober and industrious and true to the trust God and man has committed to you. You will find the workers in each place fit to give you all the help needed. I expect G. Walker will take in the other Northern parts about the same time in June and July. I am anxious above all else that there should be no deaths from disease at conventions this year, and trust whoever makes the arrangements may be alive to conditions. The Jesus way is to use the peoples property, given to and for God, rather than use what comes from the power of Gold. Children are better at home as a rule; and safer to steer a course clear with the light of God upon it. It’s very easy to allow circumstances over which He does not preside to hinder His work and blessing.

Encourage B. Corcoran to get on his own feet and have a work independent and self-supporting, and a convention at his place next year, however small. Such is the need of The Testimony all over. Most workers wreck who don’t seek to build so as others can see his work. This is where Jack and Jim have both failed and I will give them both another try. To lean on others and work in with the fruits of others’ labours is surely the mark the Lord can never honor, and all fellowship with others that is not meant to give us a share of the responsibility is fatal. So keep clear on the necessary conditions. Keep all from hindering and defiling by giving them help to go and do what you have done.

See that accounts are kept at each convention, and I would like to see them. Wm. Jamieson fails a little just here, and also in not being able to keep out of $20 coats. Irvine Weir does not seem to grasp the acc. method and also the need for keeping his own counsel and accounts, but that’s only another item where the insanity of the family shows up. Edie (Weir) and he are going home by the southern states for convention. I hope they may be able to do something to open up the way.

Don’t get the idea that we are finishing building—we are only starting. Keep to the old, well beaten path and seek to make people what they should be, rather than let them make you what they want. The latter is your temptation. Seek so to live that your strength may be increased, for weak, sickly workers are little else than a temptation to all the others to become of no use or value, but rather loafers.

Workers who don’t purpose to fight for usefulness will soon be found out no good, and should always be sent to work for their own living, for there is no end to the depth of iniquity and hypocrisy of the selfish human when the love of God fails to control and keep in health of body, soul and spirit. We can afford to be kind in helping, but never cruel in the sense of helping the devil to feed selfishness of the fruit of the Gospel. So keep on the stern alive lines and encourage no one to loaf. If they are not good in the Gospel, put before them that of being helpers by not being hinderers. We had a few on our hands today thro departing from the plain conditions. To cause people to feel that there is no sympathy for hinderers will save many weaklings from going forth.

January 17, 1919

Hon. Lord Northcliffe:

Dear Sir:

Pardon me for presuming to take up your time knowing that you are one of the busiest men in the world.  But I thought it might comfort your heart and strengthen your hands if I draw your attention to what is written in the Revelation for these days.

In Rev. 13:1-8, we have the “head lines” of what is to be accomplished in Versailles in the forming of the greatest Government of all times.  V. 1  A Beast (or Government) rises up out of the Sea.  (Rev. 17:15) of peoples multitudes, nations and tongues.  Having 7 heads with names of Blasphemy.  These are the 7 religions of the earth united: Rome, Protestantism, Greek, Jew, Confucian, Buddhist, Taoism.  3 Western and 3 Eastern with the Jew as the Center.  10 horns, 10 Nations empowered to keep the peace of the world.  10 Crowns indicate the authority given England, U.S.A., France, Italy, Japan, China & etc.

Beast like a leopard.  Union of all the spots on the map of the world.  Feet as the feet of a bear, Russian Ideals will be recognized for the working class, the feet of all nations.  Free land, work and wages to satisfy all.

Bolshiviki Ideals are Godly, but their methods are Devilish and they are led by Apollyon, the destroyer.  Rev. 9:1-11, shows us the Bolshivik movement, its origin, development and time of duration, 5 months after the Peace is formed.

God made Adam a working farmer.  He also made Jesus a working Carpenter.  Food alone will not stop the Bolshiviki, and worldwide trouble amongst the (feet) working class.  They must have a guarantee of right to live and work without fear, of injustice, on the land and by other honest labour.

Mouth of a lion:  English speaking, without flattering you.  I expect your grip on the worlds News will be used largely in this way.  Jerusalem will be the seat of the International Government, and all eyes will look toward Jerusalem, for light and leading, both of a political and spiritual sort for Rev 11:1-13, indicates the latter. Power and great authority is to be possessed by the world wide Peace Power.

V. 3 indicates the Jewish National, and Religion will be recognized.  “Head wounded to death” reminds us it was the Jews who killed Jesus.  World wide popularity, all the world wondered after the Beast.

V. 4  The world will worship the power behind the Beast.  “Who is like the beast, Who is able to make War with the beast,” shows that it will command respect and have effectiveness in all the world.

V. 5  The mouth will speak great things, even against the Highest Power, as seen in lowly way as in Rev 11.

V. 6  Will speak against what goes on in the name of God, as spoken of in Rev 11:6, by the two prophets, clothed in sackcloth as sign of mourning while the whole world rejoices.

V. 7.  Will be persecution and putting down of those who believe in what the two witnesses of Rev 11.  It will reach all kindreds, tongues and nations.

V. 8.  It will command the love and respect of the whole world.  This first power will last 3-1/2 years from its being established.

V. 11 to 18 of Ch. 13 shows us 3-1/2 years reign by the Antichrist who will be the Image or Head over the beast.  The Jew will take the control of the world wide Government and introduce more of the religious element, persecuting even to killing those who will not worship the (Image) or Jewish head of the East.  It may interest you to notice a big, sudden well prepared rising centered in the Euphrates, probably a Mohammedan rising, as the numbers are (given) 200 million with great slaughter.  1/3 of the men are to be killed, Rev 9:12-21.

Bolshivikism is the 1st Woe spoken of in Rev. 9:1-11.  Then the 2nd Woe is let loose will be about the time that the Bolshivikes cease to hurt man.  I would guess about the end of the year, 1919.

Rev 8 is the war chapter, given its origin in Heaven and then on the earth, with its failure of Diplomacy.
V. 7 Describes European Battle Fields – Hail, fire, blood, trees and grass.
V. 8 and 9, the Naval part of the war.  A great mountain burning with fire cast into the sea, 1/3 part of the Sea became blood--The Atlantic.
V. 9  1/3 of the Creatures which were (in) the Sea died.  I noticed that 202 Submarines were destroyed, and I noticed the total was somewhere abut 600.  Tons of shipping destroyed is given as 1/3 part – 15 million out of 45 million.  You can verify these figures better than me.

Wm. Irvine’s Letter To: Wm. & Rose Edwards
March 31, 1919
Jerusalem, Palestine

My dear Willie and Rose:

Yours was welcome, as I have many new and very important things to say to you.  I have been looking forward to getting my permit for Sat. 5th April, and cross on the Mauretania on 12th April.

I am free, happy and hearty, more sure than ever that God has been in all that happened, and can see that no other way was open to reveal the (Evil) that was in the hearts of The Testimony.  Evil is the cause for the best people in the world having no evidence of God’s presence and power.

Evil is what describes all that has been said and done during the past 5 years.  The Righteous, who fail in mercy, and do to others what they would not like done to them, and so fall into evil in the name of God, and go on in the delusion of doing evil that good may come.  It’s being overcome of evil (not sin) that produces the Harlot preachers, and people of the world who have everything but the Bridegroom, and thus produce Tares, who have all the outward appearance of Wheat, but nothing truly of Christ or the love of God in them.

This was the condition in Noah’s day, and those are the days of the Son of Man, when the Lord is judging the whole world, not on the creed, profession and righteousness basis, but on the Cain and Abel basis.  The persecutors and persecuted, Japeth and Ham, Esau and Jacob.  The seed of Ham are those who accuse, condemn, despise, and persecute their brother because of sin.  Sin is seen in its working in the Prodigal.  Evil is seen in operation in the Elder Brother.  Good is seen in operation in the Father, Sin in Sinner, Saint, and Servant always reveals the evil in the hearts of those who profess to be God’s people.

You notice how Job’s friends were on the track of Job’s sin, and thereby showed their evil, though they could not see it.  We noticed that long ago in The Testimony, and can see God’s hand in gathering the Tares to burn, and the Wheat cut into His granary.

I did not know we were in the days of Judgment till 4 months ago. The Lord opened up Revelation to me.  It’s a program for the end of the age—covers 12 years, from the beginning of the war.  He spued the churches, all kinds, out of His mouth.  Revelation 3:14-22, because they were neither human or divine; therefore devil possessed and evil, and not yet knowing, but rich and increased in goods, and have need of nothing.

Those He loves, He rebukes and chastens, and knocks at the door of their heart.  If any man hear, and open the door, He comes in to sup.  He brings them into fellowship with

Him in judging the world.  This is the only proof that we are the Bride, and have living fellowship with Him.  We see what He is (doing), not what he has done in the past.  (Sup) has reference to the Last Days of the Age.  He speaks as the (Amen).

The Rebukers and the Chasteners are those who will get the surprise of their lives.  If we overcome and have fellowship in the Judgment, He will grant to sit with Him on His Throne.  He never had a throne till before the war began. He had been sitting on the Right Hand of God interceding for His people.  Now, He is destroying His enemies and showing who are the True Land of God Seed.

Revelation IV shows the Lord taking His Throne, after spueing the church out of His mouth.  Revelation XIII shows us the League of Nations rising out of the Sea.

The 7 great religions of the world form the Head.  10 great nations, 10 horns.  Leopard Body - all the other nations of the world united under the Head.  Feet of a Bear - Russian Ideal for Laborers of the soil and factory.  Mouth of a Lion England, Official Language of the Beast.  Dragon gives power and seat and authority to the League of Nations.

Revelation. XI: 1-13 shows us His 2 Witnesses who stand before the god of the Earth.  Verse 6 shows what are the signs of their ministry. A world-wide drought for 3 ½ years beginning the 1st of August 1919.  The plagues to follow.  During the next 3 ½ years, we will see death and desolation in all the world 10 times bigger than happened at the flood, destroying the (Evil) Seed, who can’t see or hear the Living Lord, and so add to, or take away, according to their iniquity.

I had noticed the fact that in no meeting that I have been in for 4 ½ years had I heard the Lord’s voice.  Now I can see plainly the reason why of it, and feel glad in heart that the Lord had saved me the humiliating experience of trying to preach the old things, when they had ceased, and gladder still of being one of those He counts worthy of rebuking and chastening that I might (Sup) with Him in seeing and saying these things.

Sin brings men to themselves, and to God, when the Holy Ghost is allowed to work.  Evil makes it impossible for men to see themselves and fills them with accusation of all that’s of God, as the Elder Brother did to his father.

William Irvine's Letter to Fladungs
November 8, 1920

My Dear Fladungs:

What was wrong with that taffee? It was so long in coming I thought that school girl had perhaps eaten it and had to make more, still it was very good and as usual powdered small by the abuse it got on the way. Well! If I took it with a spoon I could enjoy it, because of the motive which made it possible. I thank you with all my heart for your school girl expression of good will. I wish the world had more of that Spirit of giving chocolate sweets to each other, rather than feeding the fires of hatred and ill-will that seems to cover the earth.

I suppose you would have some trouble watching these boys while you were making it. It's nice that you have two brothers to blame for all the things you two girls do. I think girls in a family are the police for the boys: They watch them so well and tell all the policeman to make it easy. Perhaps girls are different now than when I was a boy; I used to feel that it would have been as nice as the Garden of Eden, if it had not been for my sisters and mother and now and then my father. Still I learned that their influence over me was very much easier on me than what I had to face when I went out into the world, to find peoples eyes, hands, etc., just as fond of picking holes in me and with less love in their hearts. So that it's good when we cease to be babies to find a little foretaste of what is coming in "planters" from the harder world which we have to face when once the fences of home and loved ones is taken away and the wind blows on us and the Sun and rain get at us and sometimes a storm breaks and no one to shelter us. Then we can look back thankfully on all the gentle discipline which prepared us for the storm, far from shore and no help in sight. On the battle fields of France thousands died with the name of mother, father, home and loved ones on their lips in their dying agonies.

There are millions of children tonight who have no father, mother or home such as you have and a few years ago they had no thought that it would ever be so with them; but the war came and disease and famine and so many of them found out the difference and no one can supply the place in their lives their father, mother and sisters and brothers once did. It's like a little nest of birds left when someone or beast had killed the father and mother or both. Then in Europe a great many children have had to be taken from their homes and sent to other countries where they have food enough to give them and so have been separated from their parents and home.

This winter there will be millions cold and hungry, no shoes, not much clothing, no good bed to sleep on and no one able to help them even though they have parents. Perhaps you have never missed a meal when you were hungry, always could get a drink of water when you wanted it and a place near the fire or in your mother or father's arms when tired, cold and weary. We are apt to lose sight of these things and forget the blessings of peace and prosperity and be more troublesome because we have never had a taste of those things. In Armenia these things have been common to them for many years and every year many children saw their parents killed before their eyes and they were sometimes killed to be got rid of or died of want as they were driven from their California homes to where they did not know and no body cared. In China 100's of families, just like your own, die in each others arms of hunger; just skin and bone and no one can help them though the whole world is talking about it.

I don't tell you these things to make you sad, but rather to make you glad that you are well cared for and should be very thankful to God and your parents for all the benefits you enjoy; and learn how to show your love to your parents, one another and all you meet. Nothing can cheer and comfort your father and mother more than to have love and respect shown them by the children they love and cheerish and when you are tempted to be peevish, wayward and ungrateful, stop a moment and think how many you know would be glad to be you and have your home and care.

Would not your little cousins enjoy having their mother back to care for them again; would not the Varner little boys and big, value their friend and protector, call Varner if he was back amongst them again.

We never miss the WATER till the well runs dry, is true of all our blessings and privileges. I don't suppose you think much about the value your parents put on a loving word spoken to them, showing that you understand the battle they have to fight in getting food, clothing and all that makes home, Home? It's good for you, as well as them, and don't be afraid to show it as well as say it. It helps to keep away gray hairs from their head and smooth out the wrinkles in the face and keep the back and legs straight and strong, in place of seeing them grow gray because of want of cheer and comfort from those they have cared for and loved.

If you form this habit when you are young, it will stay with you when you get older and help to sweeten all your days and cause your own old age to be blessed with the blessings you gave your parents when but a child. Many children are slow to express what they feel towards their parents and so lose the joy of expressing it, as well as rob their parents of the comfort, and sometimes parents are slow to respond to it. But it's part of the joy of home life.

Now I guess you will be saying this is a Taffee letter, but it's also the results of long experience and observation. There is so much poisoned and embittered Taffee passed round every day that a little of the real honey, sweet with nuts, is good as a change. Beware of those who encourage you in the hard, cold, bitter feelings, words and acts that destroy all that's best in yourself as well as in others. The world has more room for those who have sweet taffee to give than the other sort. Many people say, "Smile," but a smile that does not come from a warm, kind heart is like a chocolate I once got, made of soap with a nut on the top, it looked all right, but it tasted very bitter; it was a hypocrite. Go cultivate the root and fountain of smiles in keeping a warm, loving heart.

Now I have given you enough lecture. I hope you 4 keep strong, healthy, useful, happy, hearty, obedient and industrious and careful; for you are forming habits now that will make or mar your usefulness and happiness as well as bring it to others. A little warm sunshine is much more comfortable than a full cold moon. So keep a little warmth in you that will warm others; else, your fair, full moon life will only add to the chilliness of the already cold, dead, heartless world.

Now my best thanks for the Taffee and the heart that prompted it. You can give the boys a few good thumps for me. If they don't need them today they will tomorrow and kiss the little girl all over her face till she thinks she's been eating honey candy.

My little white pup with brown ears, thinks the chocolate good and wants more. He's a nice, kind, obedient, friendly, little pup and you would all like him, I'm sure. He knows what I am thinking about him very often, especially when I'm going to wash him.

My dear Dunbars:

I have got thus far and I am tasting a little of what we have spoken of for a year now--the trouble in the Mohammedan World; and it is sweet, yet bitter.  Considerable trouble in the air, and slowly rising to a crisis over which men have little control.  The British soldiers were called out today, and have had power to check the annoying, business destroying, nerve wracking conditions that are, everywhere, becoming more manifest.  I hope to get permit for Jerusalem for 25th November, and will be glad when I get there.  While the time passes by, one becomes accustomed to new conditions.  I expect you will get many details by papers; and I know you have heart enough to follow closely all that goes on in this part of the World. 

I enjoyed talking to many on the ship, regarding the days we are in. and they little expected that they would see the beginning so soon.  We have armoured cars and wagon patrols, soldiers on foot protecting the streets.  Shops shut up; tram cars stopped, because, in the morning, there had been crowds of people on top of some of the trains, shouting and making noise, and throwing stones, etc.  Two companies of cavalry are on patrol.  Machine guns planted on some of the buildings, controlling the streets.  And in general, everything that indicates the need for a strong, firm hand.

I expect you will get more news than I of what is in the rest of the world.  And I will be glad to have any details you can give me by paper to Jerusalem, Poste Restante.  I have had little news of how the strikes in America are going on, but enough to show me the constant muddle that seems to characterize everything.  In Cairo, there was much trouble on Sunday.

I am in no way troubled, and very quiet in my heart.  Only missing much the fellowship of those I love, and would enjoy more now, than ever.  I have not heard how much peace, by League of Nations, has been celebrated in USA, and all other places.  I noticed that Australia had been celebrating.  I had, very much, close heart touch with a Turkish officer, who has been on business to Spain and was returning.  He told me many things about the Gallipoli fighting; and many other things, which indicate the spirit that permeates the Turkish people.  He is a Roman Catholic, which will tone his words.  How many things are working together, making it very difficult for any mind to take in the one fact that stands out clearly behind all--that we are in the Judgment Days, when every man and nation will get what God sends, no matter what kind of umbrella is put up to keep off the shower.

It was very strange that I should travel a good deal of the same route as Paul, the Apostle, traveled to Rome, and call at four of the ports he called at.  And, also, have about the same number on board, as he had when shipwrecked at Malta.  We had 270; Paul had 276.  The ship Paul was wrecked on sailed from Alexandria for Naples; same as ours did.  Little did people think so much depended on that man, who was a prisoner of Roman soldiers.  And little today would people associate an humble, unknown man, despised by his fellows; and, yet, having some hand in the judgment of the world (of Gentiles).

The people everywhere recognize that something wonderful is going on, but few can take in the big main facts behind all that happens.  I trust the letters I write to anyone may be helpful to all who are interested in these things.  Selfishness little befits the days we are living in, when we know the fundamental cause to be of that nature.  So let us seek to be helpful to all.

I had the full confidence of the ship, and enjoyed ministering to the good cheer of many of those on board, some of whom had been, for 3 months, on way to Syria from USA with their little ones.  There were many tongues, but I could make them know by acts, what many of them could not have known by words.  Now, I shall close and go to a very sumptuous dinner of 5 courses.  I pay 4 dollars per day, but will get down to harder conditions, as I go on.

Get a good map of Egypt and Asia, and you will be the better able to follow events.  If you read the 27th chapter of Acts, and look at the map of Paul’s journey to Rome, you will see pretty well the course I traveled, except the part from Greece to Jerusalem.

There are many European people here:  Greeks, Italians, French and English; with a general mixture of every thing of Europe, Asia, and Africa, blended or unblended.  The Mohammedan’s red cap, or “fez” is the commonest thing to be seen.

You have much to gladden your heart in America, so don’t be unappreciative of all His mercies, great and small.  And don’t forget to write me to Poste Restante, Jerusalem, as I shall be hungry to hear of all that goes on there, though it may be long in reaching me.

With best love to all who bear your name, and His, who sits as King today, as at the Flood, judging all men, great and small.

Wm. Irvine’s Letter To:  Dunbars
December 20, 1919

My dear Dunbars:

I was very glad to see your letter and the little bits that comfort; on the lines, and between—one can read, even though far away.

I am enjoying Jerusalem, and also the Book, and the times, very much. Had a fine chat with a young Mohammedan 2 days ago.  Had 3 Jews today, and gave them Ezekiel 36, by chance; and it met their needs very well and caused me to read the whole of Ezekiel tonight.  It’s very clear, and full of judgment.  Finishing up by a very simple putting of the divisioning of Jerusalem by the Zionists and British.  7 slices of Palestine down to Jerusalem, from North of Damascus; and 6 below, with one for the city, the temple, the priests and Levites’ homes and places.

We have been cut off for a week now with floods, and will likely be another week.  6 feet of water over the railway, and bridges out.  So, the unbeliever will be saying, “Where is the promise of the drought?” again.  But it don’t trouble me; it rather encourages me in thinking that God will be working all things to make manifest what they are.  And out of their own mouths, have proof that will convince them that their judgment is just.

Ezekiel speaks about what is going to happen to all the various people who have, in many ways, dishonored His name.  From His people to the heathen, and all those who stand between them.  How little people think that every idle word, men will give account.  It’s often the idle word that shows where a man’s heart is.  “A “fon” man, is a true man,” they say in Scotland.  Had a nice 1½ hours with the 2 Bible Society men today.  They are made to think much, in spite of their best endeavors to stand off.

I am sharing an old man’s room, as being a help to the old chap, who is 73.  I have the cooking and purveying to do.  I am cooking my Sunday breakfast/dinner and tea under the table, as I write.  It’s a little charcoal stove.  Costs 12 cents for stove made of clay and straw.  It keeps my feet warm and gives me the flavor, as well as keep it safe from burning.  We are having plenty of good, clean rain water.  There is a big, deep tank out in the rock.  Rock is one of the strong things around Jerusalem:  A chalky sandstone, and very hard.

I have only had time to have a look at a few of the 39 representative peoples who build stone and lime over the site of the flesh and blood temple that proved that God was with Him in their day and generation, without any building.  I notice Torry is having a little taste of the spirit of the sectarians.  He will naturally think this is persecution, when it’s only what the sects treated one another to in Jesus’ day, and our day.  And it will become more intense as the days go by.

We have Jerusalem News Sheet, but it’s always a week behind.  But this week holds the field.  We will get, all the better, “A” mail, when it comes.  Had nice letters from H. Ritzman, Miss Kreisher, and Minnie Gerow with some enclosures.  Percy Abbott also had been delivered from the power of the enemy, by their own rebuking and chastening.  And, I’m sure, there are others who will welcome the day of their deliverance, when the things come to pass that will prove who has been the Prophet, true.  The Book speaks to me every time I read it, or try to open it for others.  And many details are very much more clear.

I go to the church on Sundays and hear the same old dope we had in Los Angeles.  I don’t think there are any of the “tongue” people here now; at least, I have not heard of any.  An old, dour man from Zion City, with a wife and 2 baby children—a Jew, named Bahal, has an empty house, and wants anybody to come there, if they will pay him tithe of 10 per cent of what they earn.  It took him 7 years to get from Zion City to here.  He came by the East, but I don’t know the details.  He gave me his constitution, written out, which was a copy, pretty much of the *Zion City affair near Chicago.  He reasons entirely from Zion being the “true people of God;” but in the few minutes I talked with him, I disabused his mind a little.

There are many very poor, needy people, and one hardly knows how you can help them, for they beg, cadge, squeeze and work all the time.  And one can only tell them the William truth they need to hear, and, thus, resist their calls and claims in the name of Jesus. It has had some effect.  To show them that Christianity is having something to give others, rather than get is strong argument, and don’t hurt any of those who may be anxious to be right.  The whole city has been made parasite, and the Jewish people suffer more than most others.

There are many comical figures on the “3” Sundays.  We have Friday prayer day for Mohammedan, Saturday for the Jew, Sunday for the Christian.  But the bells are jangling away all the time!   I guess the weather here won’t be much colder than there; though there may be more rain, as a rule.

Read, very carefully, the 36th of Ezekiel, and I shall try and give you a little on it some other time.  There are evidences in Ezekiel that he saw in vision.  Airplanes as doing the work of judgment.  Also, the shakeup of Earth, mountains, etc.  are very suggestive.

Who has taken dear, old Dad’s place on the lease?  I would be glad to have a letter from any of the others there, and shall answer them. Specially Irvine Law.  People are apt to treat the matter as a lovely song:  Chapter 33:30-33 of Ezekiel.  The ears and eyes that are dearest today, will be most awake at the end of the Day of Judgment.  So, it don’t matter much whether they hear, or don’t. It’s coming, and will convince the kings, great men, rich men, chief captains, bondsmen, freemen.  What they could not hear by the Spirit of Prophecy, they will hear, see, and taste till they say, “The day of the wrath of the Lamb has come, and who shall be able to stand?”

Yes, I would enjoy a good, long chat with any or all of you.  But I don’t weary one minute, and feel calm and confident in the sure and certain hope that He will make manifest to all my despisers, that the things I have witnessed to them of themselves and the times, has been God speaking in mercy to save them from destruction.

Remember me to the Jones, Laws, and “Honest” John—over the way.  Was sorry to hear of Loitz’s sister’s death—poor woman.  I’m sure there are many who will welcome the days of the Everlasting Gospel, that they may be healed.  How few people recognize that it’s the wickedness of the wicked against sinners, who stand in the way of God’s power meeting the needs of sinners every day; everywhere.  And so all the suffering, because of sin, eats the very vitals out of Christian and sinner alike; while it might, and should, be the largest opportunity for making manifest the true difference.

Wm. Irvine’s Letter To:  John & Emma Fladung

My dear Fladungs:

Was glad to have yours.  Hope you have followed my suggestion regarding your arm.  It’s your stomach, liver and kidneys, and bowels you need to look to for permanent relief, for that is where all the trouble comes from; and as it took some time to produce, it takes a little attention to get rid of it permanently.  We naturally think to cure the cause by attention to the symptoms.

It’s a great compliment to have W. Loitz and Mary couple my name with theirs in these days, when the big, raging sea of wickedness and the big whale of a world and church tries to devour and swallow me up, but the Day will declare it.

The Whale is very anxious for “Peace and Safety” now, though they don’t know what it will mean.  When the Whale was lying rotting on the shore, a spectacle to men and angels, and food for the birds of the air, Jonah, the “false” prophet, was preaching 40 days “and Nineveh shall be destroyed” and such you will see again.

We can see that Jonah was a true prophet now, but 5 minutes before the Whale vomited him up, we would have had our doubts.  False prophets are always true before hand, and false after; true are false before, and true after.

I don’t see anybody with more light, so I will just have to stick to my guns.  It would be harder now to convince me that God had not spoken than at any time, for Jonah was being convinced he was a prophet by the storm—the casting out and swallowing up—and finally he was sure, when he was vomited up, so that, with confidence, he could speak and the 120,000 who knew not their right hand from their left, should believe his message and be saved.

We have a great reason to be thankful that we have such big stakes to play for.  So big that we almost wonder at the presumption, but in the past we have proof of that, but for God speaking, there never would have been any Testimony, and so no manifestation of their present wickedness, and this only adds proof to all that has been wrought and made manifest these past years.  We always suffer from the darkness around us, so that we naturally are blinded, more or less, by the whale activity of both world and church.

Well, we have had in December more signs than any month during the past year, and so we are thankful for the mercy that seeks to warn men to flee from their wickedness and find and show mercy, for this is all that can ever please God.  The Castaway Church always casts away God’s servants; such is the meaning of the whole book.  One of the ways of proving it, is to try some of the many other prophets and see what it brings; we have a fair sample here.

I was listening last night to Paul Rader, whom I heard last in Torry’s Bible School 3 years ago.  But it was vary much like Whale blow.  Pure air that had been polluted in the Whale, and so with the whole world.  We have plenty of big fleshly activity.  Much casting out, swallowing up and spouting, but no signs of God.  He is hid in the belly of the Whale (the church) in the troubled Sea of Wickedness, which casts up mire and dirt all the time.

Whale blow has a strong smell, as the church pulpit (the blow hole) is more wicked and accusatory and condemnatory than ever before.  The sicker it gets as it nears the “Rapture” on the shore, like the Whale, the more “smelly” it becomes.  What a jolt the Whale will get when he hits the sand or rock.  No wonder he empties his stomach.  And the cause for all his trouble came forth in power to see and say what would deliver men.  What I have said very feebly, from the Whale’s belly, will be much clearer and stronger when “The Day”—“der tag” comes and the consequences both in blessing and cursing will be much more manifest to all who honestly want to know God’s mind of otherwise.  The wickedness and blindness of The Testimony is all that’s needed to bring out the contrast.

If there had been no prophet, there would have been no boat, or crew, or storm, or casting out, or swallowing up, or vomiting forth, and so the 120,000 would have perished.  Extreme cases demand severe treatment, and so we see the days when the old Whale and Church is more and more wicked, hence the need for suffering to make it manifest.  What if Jonah was in the sea and Whale, if he sits around the Throne with Him who was 3 days in the heart of the Earth to prove the wickedness of men.  If they could do what they did to the spotless Son of God, is it not a mark of honor that we should be privileged to share a little of what He got at the hands of the same wicked people who called themselves by his name?  So, we should rejoice and leap for joy, even if one of our wings is lazy.

It’s good to see John happy and interested, and he won’t be disappointed if he is bathed in whale vomit.  They say the best way to find out what is in a man, is to send him to sea in a storm; but better to put him in the power and custody of the Whale.

I can’t tell you how often I have had to laugh at the whaleness of many I have met these past 7 years.  But I know all the time, that whatever it was, it was not of God.  I’m sure we can be glad to have so much more comfort for those who mourn.  We can tell them that 7 years from “Peace and Safety,” those whom He counts worthy to rise and reign will come back, and their loved ones who are worthy will see them again, with no marks of weakness or powerlessness—pain of death.  What we have so long talked about, we will see with our eyes, and so the boys of both Mrs. Noah and Cal Varner have more to hope for than any others we have had, in the past ministered to.  “Things seen are mightier than things heard.”

When the preaching of Jonah had failed to reach the world, God put him through a course that he and they might see and be able to say what would be effective in reaching some.  I long had mourned the fact that so little could be done, no matter how much suffering and sacrifice was made, and so the desire of my heart was granted.  I’m sure such was the case with every honest heart who ever tried to help others by preaching the mercy, kindness, and love of God.  So God is only doing what He can to save some, and one can rejoice that the everlasting Gospel will do more in one day than the old did in years.

We don’t think it wonderful that the false prophet should go and spend 7 years in college preparing, but when we see God put a true prophet through His mill, we wonder will he ever come out of it alive, and fit to deliver men from the wrath that must ever rest on all who are the wicked seed, who misrepresent His heart to men.

We often speak about patience being perfected, that is what God is doing with all His own, as well as the putting His words in their mouth.  We can’t see all the benefits we have received these past 2 years, but we can a little.  We certainly can see clearer and give a better interpretation of the book, and also see His hand working in creation and providence, and have much more liberty and joy, while at the same time, we know what is in the belly of the Whale and in the Sea of Wickedness, as it casts up its mire and dirt.

What has been revealed of men and nations in every direction has been marvelous, and we never could have hoped to learn it any other way than in the school of experience.  Children, if they are dull, need much encouragement in staying at school and seeking to benefit.  So we need to get signs and etc. to keep us in tune till we finish our course.  You will get the Whale very sick and bitter some morning, and will know that the time is near for the manifestation of Whale and Prophet.

I need not mention the many things which have happened this month, as you can read them for yourselves in the papers, and its good to exercise your own watching powers, and when you don’t see, pray that God may give you vision in the Book and in the signs.

What you see around you is a sample of what is in the whole world, and what you see in Ireland, or the worst parts now, is only a sample of what’s to come.  Sword, famine and pestilence are all with us in sample.  Soon we will have the whole stock, lock, and barrel of it.

Now, I hope you get well and strong.  It would be awkward for John to have to go and look for another wife.  So you better be content and stay with him for awhile yet.

My Dear Sister:

Yours was most welcome, and we can truly rejoice that the things spoken of are in sight of being fulfilled; for, truly, the Heathen of the East rage and the people of the West seem to imagine, or meditate, a vain thing.  Kings set themselves and rulers take counsel for to make an end of war, and yet it seems only worse every day.  Germany has broken loose again. Turkey seems in a divided, troubled state and not able to give much guarantee as to whether they can accept or reject the terms of the League of Nations.  The Turks are counting on the influence and power of the Mohammed peoples of the world, and Britain has surely given them every consideration as they have always done,  recognizing this to be Justice and Christian toleration.  Confusion seems to express the condition of the world in almost every direction.  Only in the Book is there any comfort, hope, light or direction to the whole activities of the world.

I was much struck by the date of the Battle of 4 Kings against 5, recorded in Genesis 14. Verse 5 says, in the 4th year, and the date at the top of the page is 1918.

Chapter 13, Abram and Lot return out of Egypt and part company; the one to the well watered plains, later destroyed by fire and covered by the Dead Sea--the lowest sea,  the saltiest sea, and one of the wonders of the world.  It lies in the great rift that runs almost due South, to the South African Coast and is the remains of the scar of that time, put there because of wickedness.

1914 to 1918 was the time the battle raged in Palestine.   It is also noteworthy that in Ch. 12, that the Lord made covenant with Abram and gave him promise of a land, which the Lord would show him, and make of him a great nation, and make a means of cursing as well as blessing.  "I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth."

Many people say that the late war’s been most hurtful to the nations who have mistreated the Jews most.  Napoleon's answer regarding proof the Bible being inspired, was the Jews.  And, no doubt, the Lord had fulfilled every promise to the Jews, either of cursing or blessing, in 70 A. D., on the 1st of April, or the beginning of April--Early in the month at any rate, Titus assembled an army that finally took, and destroyed, Jerusalem and the Temple, and scattered the Jews as slaves (then worldwide) fulfilling the words of Moses, the first prophet, and Jesus, the last Prophet, of the Jews.  The same promises of blessing and cursing cover the Gentile period, now about to be fulfilled.  But as the Jews were blind; so are the Gentile nations blind and will not believe it, till they have tasted of the severity of God,  as they have so long enjoyed His goodness.

But in all things, the purpose of God has been that of showing Mercy by revealing to the world, whether by Jew or Gentile, in goodness and severity, His unswerving purpose to show Mercy to the Merciful and Wrath to the Wicked who mistreat their fellows in name of God.   The hour, day, month, and year spoken of by John in Revelation 9:15 seems to be the hour, day, etc. that Jesus was crucified.  This day coincides with the day Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt and the Egyptian army were drowned in the Red Sea, and have been a suffering nation ever since.  That the fulfillment of God's promise, in the fullest sense of the word, is about to be fulfilled in Palestine, I expect will be an eye-opener to the world; for they have seen His severity on the Jews and also on those who have made them suffer most.  "Abid" the first Jewish month, or April, as we call it, has had its share of fighting and been the time of deliverance for oppressed peoples through all history.

I only noticed the other day some things I had long overlooked.  Adam was created and put in the Garden to keep it; must have been in the Spring, for a farmer can't do much unless he starts in the Springtime.  Able was killed in the lambing time.  Noah gathered the ark full in the Springtime.  Noah entered the Ark on May 17th.  Flood continued rising 40 plus 40 days, about 24  months.  Oct. 17 the Ark rested; 5 months from the time the flood began, On Jan. 1st, the tops of mountains appeared.  On Feb. 9th, Noah sent forth the raven and dove.  The one, type of life; and the other, type of death.  Strange that on Feb. 9th. The Marah massacre took place this year.  This causes me to wonder if May 17th or April 17th is the fulfillment of Revelation  9:15.  The one referring to Noah; and the other to Moses and Jesus.  Jesus couples up Noah, Lot, and these days in Luke 17.

The day that Noah entered the Ark, and the day that Lot went out of Sodom, and the day of the Son of Man being revealed, all seem to be the same day.  Even thus shall it be, when the Son of Man is revealed, fulfilling Revelation 11:3, "I will give power to my Two Witnesses and they shall prophesy 1260 days"--the beginning of the Everlasting Gospel that fulfills Psalm 2:6, 7 & 8; and Revelation 14:1-8.  The Jewish Feast of Unleavened Bread begins here about the beginning of April, so it must have been during the feast days that Titus began his siege that led to the fall of Jerusalem.   It was during this feast that Jesus taught His Disciples John 13 to 17, and covers what led up to His being put to death on Good Friday, as the Christian world celebrate.

There is 12 days difference, I think, between the Jewish and Christian calendar.  That is only a matter of detail that need not worry us, though it may mean something.  The Greek, church, and the Jew differ from the Roman Catholic and Protestant; at any rate, we can be very sure from the scriptures, and also, from the signs of the times from the papers, that we will see much to sadden and gladden our hearts in April or May at the longest.

The League of Nations hopes to have its Treaty of Peace for Turkey ready by March 31st, according to latest papers, but the Turkish Government don't seem to have much authority to deal with the matter as the military power of Turkey is even now in rebellion against those who sit in Constantinople to make peace.  The Nationalists in Turkey, Arabia, and most places in the world all seem to be opposed to League of Nation's attempts to do justice and end war.

There can be no doubt about the confusion that reigns in the whole fabric of society everywhere, both in the individuals  and the nations; and the most earnest endeavors of the best men only seem to produce more trouble and unrest.  The British Government is seeking to do justice amongst the people of all creeds here, and finds it difficult; and, I think, have men in control who honestly seek to be fair and candid in all their dealings with both Jews, and Arab, and all others.   There is much poverty and hardship because of the delay in ratification of the Peace Treaty.

Psalms 1 to 15 are good for these days, and cover all our needs, giving light, help and comfort and hope to those who seek it.

Isaiah 40 to 55 covers the Kingdom side of things from Jacob and the poor crowd, to the Everlasting Gospel of pardon, peace, purity, healing power, provision and protection of Isaiah 55. The details of Judgment on all the various surrounding nations of Palestine are very definite and can only have application to these days.

Isaiah 10:24 to end seems to refer to the attitude of the Syrians towards Palestine and setting his people free from their yoke and bondage.

Chapter 11 speaks of a rod out of the Stem of Jesse.  "A branch shall grow out of his roots;” then, follows a description of the King, by God's anointing, and who is to sit on David's throne--Psalm 2:6.  Verse 11 shows the gathering and delivering of His people.  Notice the 2nd time to recover the remnant of His which shall be left from Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath.  This shows what we may expect for the Jews coming from the territory North, South,  and East.

Chapter 12 refers to the effects of the deliverance on the people, as they recognize the Lord is for them as of old.

Chapter 13 seems to speak of the end of the 7 years of Judgment.

Chapter 14 deals with the overthrow of all rule that had  Lucifer, or the Devil, behind it.  Notice it speaks of Babylon and Assyria.  Babylon is the power that uses might rather than right in ruling others.  Verse 25 speaks about what is to happen in Palestine.  Verse 26 is the application of it to the whole world.  Verse 29-32 shows that  out of the Serpent's root shall come forth a  cockatrice (the Antichrist) and his fruit shall be like a fiery flying serpent.  Then the final judgment by famine and earthquake.

Chapter 15, Judgment of Moab, verse 6 shows drought.

Chapter 16, Setting up the Kingdom of God in Moab after the Judgment.  Verses 9 and 10 speak of drought and its effects after the sword.  Last verse speaks about 3 years (as the years of a hireling).  I don't quite understand the phrase,  it may refer to the time of hireling from Spring to end of season's work.

Chapter 17 - The burden of Damascus.  This city has now become the headquarters of the newly crowned King of the Arabs, Emil Feisal.  They claim the whole of the Mediterranean and Red Sea Coast as far as Adan, and will also have or try to have power East through Mesopotamia to the Persian Gulf.  They have had 2 demonstrations in Jerusalem, one proclaiming their opposition to the Jews getting Palestine (which they call South Syria).  Notice the end of it all in verses 12-14.

Chapter 18 seems to speak of the Sudan, or the opposite side of the Red Sea, or the South coast of the Mediterranean, all of which is pretty much Abar people's, and all of which are being shadowed with wings of the Airplane, which is the only sure way of traveling.  It may refer to North Africa apart from Egypt.

Chapter 19 speaks of conditions in Egypt during these next years.   Notice the drought in verses 5 to 10.  Hellespont is the center of airplane activities for the whole world.

Verse 6, Notice the triumph of the Jews and the Gospel in Egypt.  All these things are shaping now, and you could not get a more comprehensive outline of present and future conditions there.

Verses 23-25 shows the end of all God's dealings making Egypt, Assyria and Israel.  Chapter 20 would indicate that the Assyrians are to be disappointed in Egypt;  this Ethiopia is on the opposite side of the Red Sea from Arabia.

Chapter 21, Verse 2 speaks of the Armenian and Persia people being stirred by the treachery and spoiling of the enemy and it's the sign of hope for all of them.  Notice the time it will last.  Verse 16.  The morning and the night.   Verse 12.  Verse 10:  "0 my threshing floor," or place of tribulation.  This seems a detail of Euphrates Valley rising.   Verse 5 shows the call to arms, etc.  Set a watchman.  Verse 13, the message concerning Arabia.  Chapter 22 seems to be concerning the Jews and the Gentile through them, the burden of Tyre.

Isaiah 23; this has been the Port of Assyria and seems to be under ban for its misdeeds and attitude towards Israel, and Palestine probably will become a port for Jews in Palestine. Isaiah 24 seems to apply to the whole Gentile world and give us the key to reading what was said to the Jews.

Isaiah 25 shows the triumph of God over all the confusion and wickedness after long patience and much Mercy.  Isaiah  26 is a song of triumph by those who have suffered with and for God in every age.  It's the song of the New Jerusalem.  9-14 is very good; verse 17 shows the resurrection of the Just, as verse 14 shows the destruction of the Wicked.   Verse 20, enter into thy chambers and shut the door; hide thyself for a little while, as it were, till the indignation be overpast.  The Lord cometh out and we go in.

You can wade through this and see for yourself a little and help others by it.  Jeremiah does not give so much of this kind of detail.  I am glad to hear of John Williams, and can only thank them for the honor done me in my lowly estate. The Lord will reward their faith in His words I'm sure.  I trust you will have much to cheer your heart and be ready for the big day of the Everlasting Gospel that will just be as good as the past and present days have been bad, and discouraging to the very best.

I am not troubled much; I feel very much at home in my lonely vigil, watching for the traces of my Master's footsteps, as He walks and works amongst the Nations.   Everything I can see and hear confirms every word He has spoken, and one's heart is comforted through the various things that come to cast shadows across our path.   We have had letters from quite a few in California,  and they are all hearty.How anxious the enemy is to forget that the League of Nations Ratification is the sign for all these things coming.

If the League of Nations has made many promises and been unable to fulfill them,  surely they could make a little room for me being misled by their false promises.  It certainly has been a much bigger job than any human ever dreamt of; but there must be His wisdom in even that part of it, and it surely will look all the more heartbreaking to those who have willfully shut their eyes and ears to the Voice of God in the Bookand by His providence.

Psalm 2 is very good as supplying the whole outline in short form, and expresses the condition of the world as nothing else does.  The League, first trying to get rid of the terrible conditions of unrest that is on every hand. "Yet have I set my King on my Holy hill of Zion, etc."   Nothing but the anointing of God could have made David say these words, and we need a little of the same anointing to understand them today; and I'm sure it's not many who see in them those truths as it is being wrought out.

Well, for this time I thank you for two letters, and hope you may be able to make some use of this.  It's great comfort to have letters when so far away, and we could wish they were oftener, so don't be afraid to trouble yourself or me with same.  I'm glad to hear that Mrs. Edwards keeps well and has benefited by the truth she has heard.  It is better to suffer for His namesake as Judge and coming King, than to find yourself gainsaying the things which He is saying and doing.

We are also glad to hear that your family and the Ritzmans are solid for the truth, heard.  I expect by the time you have this that there will have been plenty of development.

Wm. Irvine's Letter To: Edwards
June 23, 1920

My dear Willie, Rose, Joe and Sarah, with the 3 young sprigs:

Your letters were good and also the underwear and the sox and the "chews", for when love is a famine these things count more. I have not got the suit yet. The underwear is very big for me but I can tuck it up with a 4" tuck and it will keep my stomach all the warmer - a little love shown to us when we are the least is much bigger than when we were the greatest. It's only dawning on me how much we had to learn of God's purpose in His dealings with us.

The 2 Parables -- the man who found gold in his field and went and sold all he had and bought that field, refers to the first part of our life and service, when thro whole heartedly renouncing all we had in Adam we were honored of God amongst our fellows and got rich by His promises being fulfilled to us and by us to others. When men were willing to have given us the eyes out of their heads for to share the gold of God -- This is what Paul speaks about in Phil. 4, counting all as dung that he might win Christ (without any righteousness of his own).

The 2nd Parable is a merchantman. A business transaction. Having become rich, what am I to do with all I have dug out or made by my business in working the field. There are many things we could do with it, but the Pearl of Great Price and the price of it is losing all we have got thru our 1st sacrifice of what we are in Adam. The 2nd price is losing all we have gained in Christ. Do you notice it mentions Joy in the 1st parable, but (no joy) in the 2nd, (went and sold all that he had) and bought it. The giving up the Adam for the Christ is a very good and joyous exchange with all the cheer & encouragement we get from God and our fellows, but the sacrificing of all that to have nothing but the hope of rising to reign with Him by the power of God is a very much more severe test. This the reason why we find it hard to have the same joy as at the first.

The first righteousness is understood by our fellows and ourselves, but the latter by neither, and our dying still has the same cry from the flesh. My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why should we fall from being the highest amongst our fellows to being the least, why should my wicked brethren who are what they are by my righteousness, triumph over me - why should Abel die and Cain live - why should Moses die on the Mt. and be buried there in sight of the promised land and the very people who had provoked him, enter the land? He had paid the price and become the pearl of great price and shall rise again to reign. He has not died theoretically but practically.

The two parts is that we sell what we have in Adam and inherit what is promised in Christ (Be most honoured). The 2nd is to sell what we have gained in Christ and become the least by being most the sinner in our own and others eyes - to be exalted by the power of God in the midst of a wicked and perverse generation and to be handed over to them for humiliation and death surely is the finishing of all God's working in us before men but not before God. You see how the 2 witnesses are to be treated, first Anointed to be the light givers to curse and bless the world. Then handed over to hands of those whom we have tormented by the power of God. Killed, lie 3 1/2 days unburied while they rejoice over us.

Then to be raised and ascend in the presence of our enemies, gives the whole outline of the development of the pearls that are to be the foundation of the New Jerusalem and it's gates and the gold thereof. Our exaltation is by the virtue of another, our humiliation is by virtue of our own human nature, nbut therein is wrought out in us a true faith in God that makes it possible for us to rise. Moses forsook all in leaving Egypt as murderer. Moses sold all in going up on the mountain to die for his speaking unadvisedly with his mouth in the presence of those who had caused it.

Even Judas thought he had justification in the words and acts of Jesus for betraying Him before death. You can see how little Peter understood what Jesus was going thru in his taking a sword to defend Jesus, and we often find our flesh very much like that in taking means of defense, such as Alex and Alfie are doing in their babyhood; happy are they who take it all lying down to have the nails driven into hands and feet and made a spectacle to men and angels, who are the accusers, persecutors, even to the death.

To hate, accuse and kill that which God has most honored is the privilege of the wicked. To be misunderstood by those whom we love, and forsaken in the times when we need most cheer, is to be honored of God, even when we don't understand, but still can feel. If we get more of this than others, it's a sign we can bear it and benefit by it. It's gold that is tried most in the fire and the fine gold has got most fire, and all pearls have been produced either thru long suffering or thru much darkness and heat.

The history of the Diamond in the heart of the earth is very suggestive and no perfect diamond is aver found, and it takes quite a big diamond to allow for cutting it down to be a fair sized gem - so we need not worry, come what will, we have had enough of God's love and power manifested thru and to us to stay by Him till His work is finished. We are living in days that are the most privileged in history, when we have more to give us comfort apart from all that men can say or do and we can at least tremble with confidence that God is working all after the good pleasure of His will, and we will let Him. We count our blessings by our rebuking, chastening, rejection, loss of privilege and fruitfulness, just as the wicked do the other way - the more we loose and suffer, the better for us. The more they benefit, the worse for them.

I can't say that I'm tired waiting as I see how much I have had to learn and the importance of having learned enough to be effective in days to come, you will see best what the fire was for when you see the results in those who name His name, you can be sure that He will work to put the tares amongst the tares and the wheat amongst the wheat. Malachi last chapter gives a beautiful outline. I had a read of Psalms 1,2,3 and they touch the spot better every time I read them.

The Jews have got Palestine by 1st July: both begin that day whether the Turks sign or not. League of Nations has been from the beginning, purposed to settle in Geneva, but I still expect the Jews to show their gratitude to them by offering them the right to build in Jerusalem and till thats finally fixed I won't change my reading of the Book, without cause. The League has made many false promises in the past, but every word of God has come true.

Geneva is the most central place in Europe. Jerusalem the most central for the world. Nobody has power to offer Jer. till now and we will see what happens. Geneva was from the 1st to be the temporary place. The Jews mentioned 5 months ago Jerusalem as a site and naturally all the superiors of the Supreme Council will not want it too far from their present activities as leaders of their own nations, but this will all pass into other channels.

Believe what the Book says, no matter what the world says. They will blunder. He can't. We may make mistakes in listening to men's ravings, but we can't be led astray beyond the truth. If the wicked howl today with joy that the promise of men fail, they will howl the louder when they see the promises of God come true. I left California on the promise of the League of Nations and came here and have been here 6 months and yet they have failed, but it never changed what He said and what I said - when they say Peace and Safety, or finished their work, then sudden destruction cometh on them. It gives those who are wicked a chance of showing how wicked they are, when they should be fearing, they show their blindness and unbelief.

Today the wheat is trampled under in the chaff -- when the wind blows and the tossing comes the wicked are to be like chaff; they are having their big day now, we have it when the Kingdom comes and their Kingdom is taken from them. The Gentiles will be going down as the Jews come up, when the Jews have come to power, and appoint the Antichrist, the children of the Kingdom will have to flee, but He will gather them after the destruction of the Jewish Antichrist power.

Ireland is suffering pretty much today as all the world is suffering, only more keenly and she don't want to recognize it. Ulster is to have it's Home Rule Bill and government strait away, whether S. Ireland will have it or not. Every step in everything adds to hatred and bitterness the world over and surely if Noah on the 17th May entered the Ark, I would not be surprised to find out from that day that great new moves have been taking place, that in 5 months from that date will have covered the mountains. Every day brings fresh news of new and bigger troubles that are harder to control. The 40 days from the 17th of May have been very full so far.

Turks got terms of peace on 10th of May, the day the Lord finally warned Noah to get ready to go in. Then they got extension till 26th June, 40 days from 17th. Why should these dates be chosen and why should men not see any connection. The dates in Noah's story will have been as wonderfully fulfilled in these days as they were at the flood and I have enjoyed looking them up every time. In Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Poland, Russia, Denmark, Holland, England and Ireland there have been decisions come to, by the governments that are bringing them into conflict with labor more than ever. Government is weakening and lawlessness getting stronger and big trouble springing up would cause a show of lawlessness such as we never dreamed of. Decisions of the League have been the most exasperating and disappointing of all the past months and the powerlessness of the League of Nations is more manifest.

India, Japan and China are all coming to a crisis. The hopes of all the world are being disappointed, and quietly and secretly people are preparing for war, while 20 wars are now raging. You know how bitterness increases in America and the last straw is the deporting of all who have anarchist tendencies and yet labor is scarce in U.S.A., plenty of unemployed labor in cities and no one to work on the farm. One is apt to think they have become pessimistic, but it would be reading with our eyes shut to see any other way.

The Prince of Wales in Australia and New Zealand is drawing the line between Capital and Labor, Royalist and Democrat. The Fast of Ramadan, from 19th May to 19th June, is throughout the whole Mohamadan world and is a period of propaganda for all that's worst and most fanatical. The people don't eat, drink or smoke, from before Sunrise till after sunset. So it's an all night debauch and all day loaf for those who can afford it, and an all day work, hungry, for those who can't. It's all working in such a way as only the Master mind of Jehovah could possibly work to bring about Judgment by angels, and the spark that will set all flaming will be when the 4 angels are let loose in the River Euphrates. That will set things moving and I'm afraid the Jews getting Palestine on 1st July will have something to do with it.

I wish you were nearer so we could spend hours going over the multitude of things, and write often as you can, it does me good. The picture is good of all 4. I could almost recognize the little Chap. I expect you will have heard from Alex and Alfie by this time. Had one from Alfie with enclosures from Alex. They are busy, that's the only reason you have not heard. They both seem to be making things hum and it's best to let them fight their own battles and strengthen their hands. They did not get much foundation, but are moving along all right.

Wm. Irvine's Letter To: May Carroll
July 22, 1920
Jerusalem, Palestine

Dear May:

I was glad to see your handwriting and gladder of the opportunity to reply, which comes very seldom from the heel bruising seed.  It is always behind backs that you find the heel to bruise.  This is sure proof of what quality it is.  The deaf ear, the blind eye, the shut door, the warning against others, these are sufficient to settle the whole matter as being the work of the Serpent Seed.

The Seed of the woman, or true Bride, is to bruise the head of the Serpent.  The foundation test of all my reading of the Book and the signs of the times are plain and clear to anyone who wants to see, hear, or understand.  1st Thessalonians. 5:2-3, The Day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night; for when they say, ‘Peace and Safety,’ then sudden destruction cometh upon them and they shall not escape.”

The whole un-anointed world still believes we are yet in the day of Jesus Christ, while the whole of God recognize that we are in the day of The Lord, or Judgment Days.  1st Thessalonians. 5:4 shows this quite clear, for Paul was only writing of those who were the anointed of God.

The League of Nations are the leaders of the man-anointed world.  I count myself happy to have seen these things so far ahead of their fulfillment.  The further off they are, the more evidence of God’s revelation and the longer the warning my friends and enemies will have had.

I have not one shadow of a doubt about the wisdom of God in the false promises of the League of Nations, when they could or would say peace and safety.  These words have been the constant cry of the whole world, and it is panting to hear them more than ever while He and His anointed are waiting in Heaven and Earth and longing to hear Him speak to them in His wrath over them in His sore displeasure.  He that sitteth in the Heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall have them in derision. The Days of Jesus Christ finished in 1914.  The night when no man could work has been on us, and the Day of The Lord in judgment, coming as a thief in the night, which only the anointed can hear and see.  We who see these things through watching and keeping sober (not drunk with the Harlot's fornication with the world wine) are not appointed to wrath; while those who still think night is day and the Lord is not judging the world, are appointed to wrath.

Deut. 18:15-22 is quite fair and square, and on that I stand or fall.  But don’t make me responsible for the false promises of the League of Nations.  All that you find in Matthew 23 applies today to the whole Gentile religious, world of Pharisees, who found it harder to believe of themselves than the Saduccees.  So, The Testimony Tares find it harder to accept than any other.

I have been giving the whole Testimony a chance to repent of their wickedness or perish in their pride.  When they forsake their wicked, wicked way and their unrighteous thoughts, and return to the Lord, they will find Mercy.  If they go on as they have, it will mean human and eternal death.

This is the Message that Noah gave the people in his day.  Lot also, in Sodom; they perished.  And this is the Message Jesus gave the Pharisees in His day.  And I now give it to the whole wicked seed in and out of The Testimony.

The un-anointed could not see, feel, or believe it, but went on in their deceit, iniquity, violence and wickedness till it was all past, and then only weeping and gnashing of teeth at their own selfish, blind presumption.

I saw in your experience a new meaning and got a clearer grasp of Luke 17, “Remember Lot’s wife,”  for you fell a victim to the very things Lot’s wife did.  You’re sharing the spoils of the well-watered plains at my expense.  Your fear of losing your Testimony friends and relatives; being shut out as I have been; being numbered with sinners.  The power of fleshly love and lust,--family love and lust; as well as the powers of ungodly love and lust; with natural weakness; with many evidences of deceit and craft of various kinds, and the  bitterness manifested towards others without any excuse—your subsequent activities all speak loudly, not only to me, but to all who know the facts.

You speak of self-effacement being the mark of God’s Anointed.  The false prophets have always been good at effacing the true prophets of God, as the evil workers have been conscious that if the Evil Seed had taken all that God gave me as the seal of my anointing (and I have more today than I ever had, and know it,) they have not the anointing and many, in and out of The Testimony, can bear witness that the others haven’t it, and don’t know it. I’m quite sure the Pharisees would have been glad to welcome Jesus back amongst them as proof that He had made a mistake in making them manifestly the children of the wicked one.

I am here, in Jerusalem, to finish my course with joy, as you can see it in Revelation 11, and I would not change places with all the world.  Jerusalem has been a God-given watch tower where I can see North, South, East & West, and where the greatest miracles of the age has taken place.

Since April 4th, when the trouble took place, I saw it with my eyes only, but it did not come near my dwelling, as He said.  There was much joy in my heart, and sorrow in others, for I know it was the beginning of days.  Why did the Greeks start fighting the Turks on the ground of the 7 churches in Asia?  Was it not to draw attention to Revelation 11:1-2, fulfilled in the Jews and British?   And it is very interesting to watch the developments, by blind men, by the lines given by the prophets.

Why all the trouble in Ireland - the beginning of the conflict there (Daniel 7:1-8), concerning the 4 Beasts with the growth of the Little Horn (the Jew in Jerusalem.)  The Lion with the Eagle’s Wings, which are to be plucked and left standing on the feet of a man with the heart of a man.[England]  The Bear (Bolshoi) spreading over the world.  The Leopard (League of Nations) that has brought more trouble than anything else in  history.  The 4th Beast, dreadful and terrible and strong, Exceedingly, with the iron teeth which devour, break in pieces and stamp with the feet of it and is diverse, or anti, to all other beasts and has 10 horns full of power.  This is International Socialistic Labor, and it is dreadful to contemplate what power a lamb compared to the 4th Beast.  We will have the Mohammedan war, the world conflict with Labor and Bolshoi, the drought, the plagues, the Everlasting Gospel to the Nations.

This is the program, As soon as they say “peace and safety.”  So it is very clear how the trouble will come, such as the world has never had and never will again.

You will soon be able to see whether the Lord is coming from Heaven to take you up with the Pharisees; then perhaps, your lamp will begin to burn a little dimly and you may find out you have not the vessel--a mercy heart--and may find out you are too late to get one, and the door will be shut, and the answer given, “I know you not.”  In spite of all my attempts past and present to guide you.  Then, you will look back and review the causes and do the weeping and gnashing of teeth.

My Dear Bill,

I wrote you to in August, which I guess you will get in due time, but I thought a note today wouldn't hurt you. Sinners who are blind and deceived and robbed can't hurt anybody that has the anointing of God, while people who have no anointing need all the care the rulers can give: This explains the activities of The Testimony. Six years ago, in April, I was rejected and despised and cast out to die, according to prophecy, my birthright divided amongst my children and enemies (and I was willing), but the anointing that God gave me remained with me, and nobody seems to get my mantle, though many have tried my shoes, sat in my seat, slept in my bed, ate my meals and have enjoyed the rise to power and pre-eminence. What was wrong in me has been right in many others, others' sins covered by wickedness and acquiescence in the destruction of the sinner for his sins, has brought honour for their faithfulness.

When the world and Testimony set out to bury me, and forget my name, person, presence and etc. they failed. The Kaiser set out to conquer the world-he failed, although he was the strongest man in the world, and his nation and army expressed this, and certainly no man or nation, as such, could be a match for them. He failed, lost his crown and kingdom, and but for the mercy of God, in creating worse conditions, would have lost his life as well. What he lost I have practically gained; and what the Kaiser tried to do by force, I have the hope of doing for the whole world.

Rejected of the seed in The Testimony and world, I was accepted of God for the destruction of the whole wicked seed; the prodigal becomes the heir, the fool becomes the wise; I paid out the gold-and it was grasped greedily-but I held the Pearl. The Jesus Way was stolen, confiscated, misappropriated. I remember seeing and hearing you take it over in my presence. I guess you did not feel it; but I was there to feel it, for it was that I might get something bigger and better, after being purified, made white and tried; the jest of fools; the song of the drunkards; the victim of the heel bruisers; the theme of the scandal-mongers, and the dirty slut sisters; the man without a parallel in history, whose back has been plowed upon, who has been vanquished--no fear of him now!  The last look I had of George Walker, the wolf said: "See if you can paralyse anybody now?" And the shining white of his teeth and steely eyes told me what was inside-saying it would all be settled in Heaven.

The man to be forgotten in public and gloated over in private; the subject for the nightcap talk in bed; the excuse for robbing and dishonouring others; blind, bound, bruised, alone, a heretic, a blasphemer, smitten of God for his sins in his mind, and afflicted by all the afflicters; treated unjustly without and within, despised and rejected and persecuted, while the hireling hypocrites revelled in sharing the spoils of my labours in God; but it hasn't taken one turn out of me. I sit alone, his anointed, to see the fulfilling of all the hard words I used to almost upbraid myself for speaking fulfilled on all the wicked seed.

"What fools these mortals be" is true today, as I look on the world and around my table in The Testimony. To think that these are the qualifications for being the ambassador of judgment, today, to the earth; to rule the nations with the Rod of Iron; to torment the earth and be killed for it, and be cause for the nations rejoicing. This is my 6th rejection during these 27 years, and I wasn't counted worthy to live this time; next time I won't be counted worthy of burial, and will be left three and a half days lying in the street of the Holy City (Jerusalem), and, when they have all had their do and say, to stand upon my feet and be caught up into Heaven, in the presence of those who killed me and were my enemies, while the earthquake will kill thousands. This is surely a grand finish to a life of activity such as is not common in the world history. To have spoken words which mean death by sword, pestilence, and famine to millions now living on the earth; to change water into blood, and to put plagues on the very way they tried to kill-fire to proceed forth to devour and etc; in short, is there any parallel in the 2 men we read about in Rev. 11.1-13? Don't you think it takes a lot of purifying, making white and trying to fit a man for that responsible position? What if I am one of them Bill? I ask this because I don't know of any man who has spoken the truth so faithfully for 20 years-the words of warning The Testimony gave to the world; and I marvel at it all, although I know it was weak and imperfect. But to the last word on the platform and off it, I said honestly, as far as I knew what was the truth and kept little back, and often suffered in myself and others for it. I was prodigal of all that men cherished; God, through me, gave the last of the message of Jesus Christ; the church formed was the one spued out of his mouth, and those who suffered with me in the rejection will surely rejoice with me some fine day very soon. Then many whose hearts have been turned from me will find their hearts turned towards me, when the apostle John comes back to bear witness, as to who is the (apostle) anointed of God, as the Prince—

The conditions in the world today, are just what I said they would be, and I see, when darkness and death seem to be everywhere, this is the judgment side. Think on the other side! The Kingdom of God in power of Moses, Elijah, and Jesus to be worldwide, and that by the 144,000, compared to the little I did before, and for which I got much more envy and rebuke than praises or appreciation. "Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost isles of the sea for thy possession" (Psalm 2). Somebody is going to have a big job-not because of what they are, but because of their relationship to Him who sits on the Throne, as Creator, Redeemer, Judge and coming King.

Nothing but the training of a prodigal could ever fit him for keeping his heart and mind off the glory which shall be his--wrought by creation and redemption, all things after the pleasure of His own will. These six years I have found many of the thoughts I had were His thoughts when I least expected it; and nothing but the unerring Spirit of God could have comforted and kept me where and as I have been in body, soul, and spirit, as I know Him today. I feel very much more at home with God, today, than I ever did, and enjoy my Father's heart, home, table, clothing, ring, shoes and fellowship, in spite of my elder brother's contempt, envy and reviling.

You can see where Old Ireland is today, and where all the world is moving to, if you have eyes and ears; if not, the wicked are not meant to see and hear--this is part of the Judgment, they shall not understand, but the wise shall see (Daniel 12). And I could write a book, but this will be enough to go on with. Your thoughts or idle words, silence or wrath won't alter God's purpose or hurt me in any way; and I would not hurt you, or any other, if I could help it  The world is going to be heated as an oven of Malachi 4, to consume the tares (proud and wicked).

Wm. Irvine's Letter to Neomi Gerow
July 20, 1920

My dear Neomi:

Many thanks for your letter.  It gave me a sweet hour or two meditation on Neomi and Ruth, two of the most honorable women who ever lived on this earth, and whom you will see some day come back to reign on the earth, and go to be the Seed of God in one of the many stars that shine over your head, reminding us of the great Eternal purpose of God for all who will let Him perfect them in His Image, that they may go to be His Seed in other worlds, as His Son was in this.

God so loved this world that He gave His only Son, that we might be redeemed unto God, that He might give us for the redemption of other worlds.  This explains the WHY of much that happens in the life of every true child of God; their ups are preparations for their downs; their downs are only preparations for higher ups.

“Neomi” means pleasant; Ruth, friend; Orpah means hind; Elimeleck, “God is King.”  I often wondered why Ruth’s story was not linked with Ezra, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon.  To find it amongst or between Judges and Samuel gives it a high place.  12 Judges who were true to God, and by whom Jehovah delivered Israel.  Then Samuel, who through the most troublesome times Israel had, was true to God’s mind, will and purpose.  Strange that so little is said of Neomi as a rule, and yet she seems the most loyal under very much more trying circumstances, and no doubt was the instrument in making Ruth’s story possible.

She will not be forgotten or clouded over when the True Boaz comes to WED His Bride gathered from the world’s worthy.  Human eye can see very little romance in an old person; a widow, poor, lonely, helpless; almost friendless.  Where is the romance of it all?  But in the heart of the Bride and Bridegroom was a passion that age, poverty, widowhood, childlessness, homelessness, weariness, and toil and travel could not quench nor drown.

It was this that took her back to the country of her first love; not for Elimeleck only, but for Jehovah.  How blind human eyes are when we look at white hair, wrinkled face, bowed back, feeble step, and failing health, few friends, and little appreciation; the marks of weaning from the seductive world the peach blossom of His much desired Bride.  How sad all these marks are when coupled with a harlot heart.  How sweet to one whom His heart delights in.  How happy the Bridegroom who finds a Bride willing to leave country, kindred, and father’s house and go forth to meet her Bridegroom.  Reflections of what is in the heart of the True Eternal Bridegroom when He sees the heart leaving all else because of the power of a deeper, truer, more tender and enduring affection that can never wane or die.  The cause of her broken, blighted life – husband gone, sons gone, no grandchildren; what an object of pity in a Jewess coming back amongst her more fortunate sisters and relatives.  “Man looketh on the outward appearance, but God looketh on the heart.”  She was one of the Pearls of Great Price, though she knew little of it.  He greatly desired her beauty, while they pitied her.

It was a Jewel in the battered casket that attracted Ruth, and was the seal of His favor given in providence, as was Boaz to Ruth for the same reason.  Neomi means pleasantness.  How easy it is to be pleasant emigrating from poverty to a land of plenty with her husband and two marriageable sons; this is how the world looks on things.  But the pleasantness He saw and will see again when she comes with Him – and that will count through Eternity – is the pleasantness when all her earthly goods and hopes were blighted, and like an old blighted wreck without cargo, being blown on the rocks of your own relative’s hard hearts.

What about her relatives?  How they would look, pity and speak of her!  How few of the young people would have any idea of wanting her lot to be theirs!  How many crafty, wise, and prudent evil hearted, evil tongued people could prove she had been forsaken of God and judged of God and brought under the Rod of God’s Providence, when she was the most honored of God woman in the world!  The perfecting of the pleasantness we see in Jesus when He was hanging on the Cross, when He said, “Father forgive them, they know not what they do;” and the confidence of “into thy hands I commit my Spirit” is not perfected in the home circle with all it’s charm, honor, and comfort and the esteem and friendship of a large circle of friends – human or Christian.  How near sighted and short sighted the wise and prudent are when it comes to understanding “all things work together for good to them that love God, and are called according to His purpose.”

A Bride suited to the Bridegroom must be tried as He was tried, and the school, the fire and flood may not always be the same.  The test will be of the same quality to produce worthy marks seen in Neomi.  She was the root of which Ruth sprang, and of which Boaz was the seal and the 3 marks in those in whom His soul delights.  Neomi, pleasant.  Ruth, friendship.  Boaz, fleetness.  All came from the same source – heart quality toward God and His Son.  To be true to God and see His hand in wrecked, barren life – to see God in the victim of above and choose fellowship with such, gets rid at one jump of “fair weather” friends who are terrible hinderers of the perfecting of the heart qualities He most delights in.  Boaz’s ability to see in Ruth the desire of His heart through the circumstances of Neomi and Ruth shows fleetness and ability to see as God sees.

The three together make a beautiful cluster of Pearls, expressing what was perfectly manifested in Jesus who was the typical Bride in His life as well as the Bridegroom.  They harmonize well with Psalm 107.  Three pictures of His dealings with us to produce the Bride, given in vs. 32 to 43.  1st, a solitary place in which we wander; no city; hungry and thirsty; their soul fainting till they cry.  “Solitary” means a place with no beaten track and no human help.  Vs. 1 to 7.  2nd, as SLAVES sitting in darkness and shadow of death.  Vs. 9 to 14.  He brought down their heart by labor – fell down – none to help.  In trouble they cry and He hears.

3rd.  Like a ship in a storm – all hope gone.  These three pictures give us pretty much the Key to His life-long dealing with us to perfect us for Himself.  Wilderness, slavery, storm, awaken chords in human hearts nothing else can ever reach, and produce the sweetest music.  This is the Key to understanding Moses and the Children of Israel; as well as the Boat, Disciples, and Jesus in the Boat on Galilee’s Lake.

“Orpah” means hind; fleet of foot and quick of scent to flee from the very tests that would perfect us in likeness of Him who loved and gave His best for earth’s worst.  How many we have seen who are quick of scent and fleet of foot to flee from what will mean suffering and loss for His name’s sake.  Their wisdom and prudence will make them one day weep and wail and gnash their teeth when they find out how unlike they are to Him who was quick of scent in loving and giving Himself for others when and who needed Him most.

What a triumphant note Paul strikes at the end of Romans 8, 34-39.  How many love the beaten track and avoid the Wilderness and the Solitary place.  How many choose the Taskmaster’s job, and fear the darkness and death of slavery in Egypt.  How many like and hug the shore rather than go down to the sea in ships and face the storm.  But they miss the experience that makes us like the Man of Sorrows – loneliness and storms that can only be faced with God in presence, voice, and power, now and forever.

The Books of Ruth, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms and Proverbs are all very full of the personal element that will encourage us in seeking the Goodly Pearl which will be of greater value in Eternity, and will make us Stones in the Temple of our God in New Heaven and New Earth to be born through the travail now coming on the world, called the Tribulation days, when all chaff and tares will be burned up.  Conditions world wide are all being perfected for that Day to begin.

The world is getting heated like an oven and when hot enough the work of Malachi 4 will begin.

Whether your mother lives or dies – of one thing I am glad – that she knows a little of being in the Secret Place of the Most High, and therefore we have hope that she will abide under the shadow of the Almighty if here, and if not, come back very shortly to reign with Him when He comes.

We are still waiting till THEY say peace and safety.  They have promised it 7 times and recently they don’t make any promise, but we were right in identifying their promise as the time when Drought and all else would begin.  Our enemies have gainsayed and made many Jude 15 speeches, which they will have to eat sooner or later.

I have been seeing in Dan. 7:1-8 more clearly what those 4 beasts will make of this old world – a perfect wild beast jungle where every sort of destroying power will be at work.  I am longing to hear how your mother is.  Remember me to all there in your home and in Santa Barbara.

Wm. Irvine’s Letter To:  Sargeants

My dear Sargeants:

Thanks for yours.  It’s good to have plenty to do; it keeps one in better condition of mind and body.  When our fellowship is with Him, or partnership with Him (which is a better way to say it) we can always rely on the quickening and guidance of His spirit, if we are honestly for Him.  We need never fear that He will fail to be for us, and if God be for us, who can be against us?

It’s comical to see the whole of history prove this, yet men will always put their confidence in following the crowd, and afraid to give them offence by naming His name.  What we are to Him, He will be to us, so that we only rob ourselves by giving place to others, no matter how many or powerful in men’s eyes they may appear.

The popular cry is always the spirit of the god of this world—“The spirit that worketh in the Children of Disobedience.” All that’s wrong with the world, is the heart attitude of the people, which is the key to all His dealings with us.  And people are often very careless about what pleases Him, and which pleases men around them.  If we suffer at their hands, we can always be sure He will reward us.

In all the peoples on the Earth, God only sees two sorts: Those who are the Children of the Day, and those who are the Children of the Night; or those who are clothed with the Sun, which means showing the light He gives; and the Children of the Night are who walk in traditional moonlight and hang on to the old things, which means rejecting the new. All flesh loves the old and the many. All that’s born of God, love what comes from God, even as a new-born baby loves the milk of his mother.

We have had the peace pact signed in Paris on the 27th of August.  So now we are ready to see the Day of the Lord come as a thief in the night, "for when they say Peace and Safety, then, cometh sudden destruction and they shall not escape," [1 Thes 5:3] so casting down the Earth the Dragon of Revelation 12, in giving them  the very opposite of what they have prayed and worked for in the whole political, religious and educational world, which is behind our so called civilization.

I am glad you have so many opportunities to get and give help to those around, and use them as His gift to you faithfully, no matter what men may say or do.

Wm. Irvine’s Letter To: John Hardie

My dear John:

Your letter to Alfie [Magowan] was good and frank, and worthy of greatest consideration, as it reveals the heart of a man suffering, as all men suffered in every age, from wickedness, the disease of all diseases.  I, like you, was puzzled at my “double life,” as YOU call it.  But, if you multiply by ten or a million, the one fact that my heart could not get away from was, that I had more than all the good people in The Testimony of the seal of God.  And if I was tempted to despise any section of it, it was those who had least sin and most righteousness before men and yet lacked the one thing needful—the Spirit and power of God, either to help sinner, saint, or servant to be more God-like as revealed in Jesus, who seemed, always, to be for those sinners and against those against them.

Whatever makes manifest the heart of God is light and all else is darkness, no matter whether it be Pharisee or Scribe in things human or divine.  Why the Jews, who were the most God-fearing people in the world, as well as the most scriptural, should have their land, city, temple and people destroyed, and given to those who were the opposite, was a puzzle to me.  And why many of those who were the sinners in The Testimony, to my knowledge should have accomplished more, was often a problem too.  It was worth all the suffering that these things should be made manifest to the world in our day.

When you use the words of “double life”—all men live a “double life” who have named His name.  It’s a matter of degrees.  We would not need forgiveness, if we did not sin daily, and I guess, all you have ever done was in spite of your sins, unless you are like the more deceived, who believe they have none.

The Prodigal Son and the Elder Brother problem has been a nut to crack for every wicked heart since Jesus spoke it to the Pharisees, who were surprised at His attitude toward the men who were looked upon as sinners, and it still remains the keystone in the arch of all God’s truth, and the best exposition of every tragedy from Cain and Abel to Jesus and John on Patmos.  The method whereby God made true Prophets, as opposed to false ones has always been by the rejection of the true by the false.  The reason for this rejection covers all the ground from murder and adultery to heresy, blasphemy and sedition.  The fact remains that the messages from both Old and New Testaments, Prophets, and Apostles were always messages to the apostate prophets and people.  And if we had to rely on a record being given by them, all would have been scrapped and burned.  But they were cherished by the true, rejected, men and chosen of God Seed, and often confiscated when they were apprehended, imprisoned and killed by the Cain seed of their day.

I often wondered why Jesus said one of the marks of this seed, outlined in their activities in Matthew 23, was to build monuments to the dead prophets, and hate, persecute, and put to death the true, and say, “If we had been in the days of the true, we would not have allowed them to be put to death.”  This reveals the high standing of the Seed of Cain in every age among their fellows, and the utter, hopeless condition they were in before God—even to the killing of the Son of God as a sinner, who with all the marks, and the fulfilling of all the scriptures, was put to death between two thieves according to the scripture.

If it offend your mind and soul to find me seek a place along side Moses, who fled as a murderer and lived in fear of death for forty years in the wilderness, till he became the meekest man in all the Earth and the chosen of God to go and deliver the people from whom he had been exiled, or David, who was the murderer king, and who exalted the Woman to be his favorite wife, and chose to set her son on the Throne of Israel so that the sword never departed from his house till the day of his death--Did all David’s repenting, and so forth appeal to them?

You surely would give me a place in the jail on the treadmill with Samson, and my eyes out, fit only to appear at feast time to make a little sport for his tormentors.  If none of these appeal to you, surely you will give me a place beside my prodigal brother, who never confessed his sins to his brother, though he had wasted his substance with harlots, and all that that means then and now, while his brother had stayed at home and never transgressed at any time, and refused to have any fellowship with his brother, even though it meant shutting himself out from his father’s heart, home and table, like all others who fall by their wickedness.

If you don’t find anything attractive in the Prodigal, take warning from the elder Brother and flee as far as you can from his spirit, and err on the other side, is good scriptural, spiritual, prophetic advice.  God knows how to take the Wicked in their own craftiness and put them in the pit of their own digging.  It was as much a surprise to the Prodigal, as it was to the Elder Brother.  If you had been a slave on the farm of the Father of the Brother and Elder Brother, whom would you have justified, the Prodigal or the Elder?  This won’t affect me, John, but you, for eternity.

Has it been the spirit of the father of Elder Brother that has caused you to be silent to me these 6 years?  The Prodigal did not come to confess to his brother, nor to the slaves on the farm, but to his father.  And the Father did some of the coming.  The Prodigal would have been a fool, and worse than a fool, to approach his brother, or any other, but his father.  He would have been repenting and confessing a thousand years, as some of my elder brothers have said, and then, it would not be square.  People with wicked hearts and sinning lives are not considered in the game, John.  This is the game (if you will allow the expression) of games; the tragedy of tragedies; the comedy of comedies, and all the prophets of God have played it.

The repentance the Prophets preached was to the elder brothers, but most of them would not go in, and stayed out and perished through an unforgiving heart.  Your tardiness, mentioned in your letter, is not likely the spirit of the Father, and savors that of the Elder Brother standing angry and sullen, accusing both Father and the Prodigal.  The very idea of being a Prophet and test for my time and age is not very attractive, but it may be as stubborn a fact as the Prodigal in his Father’s home, feasting--hard to swallow, but a matter of “believe and live; refuse and perish.”  There are elder brothers at the first call as well as at the last choosing.

Jesus came to Earth in seeking those who had spent years as “slaves to brutal passions.”  I spent twenty years, took many long wearisome journeys, did much hard work in the same quest and succeeded as few have done by personal word and work.  I have heard many try to white-wash themselves with tears, “giving their life for me, etc.,” but the fact remains, that not one soul ever moved pen or finger, far less foot to help me, but have persistently, for 6 years, fed themselves on the sins of the man who made it possible for them to be what and where they are, and who ever seeks only to deliver them from death and Hell.

I’m the judge of what they have done, but they make the mistake of thinking the wicked heel bruisers were to be the judges.  The men who were put to death, are to be the judges at the judgment day.  My rejection and suffering is only my perfecting for the greatest work of this generation, and I’m well-equipped for the job.  I know what the heart of a pure woman is capable of; I know a wolf, no matter how long, white and luxuriant its wool is; I know an elder brother Cain from the prodigal Abel; I know the proud and wicked from the humble and the contrite; I know the dog, hog, wolf, and goat from the sheep; I know the seed of the Serpent in fig leaves from the lamb of God Seed with coats of skin.  I know the Foolish Virgins from the Wise, and those who think the Lord a hard taskmaster, from those who knew Him as a generous, gracious giver to those who are to their fellows what He is to us.

For twenty years I excelled all of you in expounding the Book.  For six years, you have had it in the flesh and blood.  If all God’s prophets and seed were manifested in Jesus, and the Wicked Seed in the Scribes and Pharisees of His day, so you have had in me a sample of all we said and read, and the test for whether people had only heard and said, or whether they had been made partakers of the nature of God.

Most people have measured themselves by the Book, the Trinity in Heaven, and in the church, temple, holy place and people.  But God has always given them a flesh and blood test by which they were chosen from the many who have been called.  The rejecters of the rejected always perished.  The acceptors of their rejecters were always chosen.

You say in course of time it will all be well and you will walk in fellowship with God meanwhile.  And one answers, Which “lord” is it?  The one who wants to lord it over the sinner and insists on the sinner coming to him?  While the Gospel puts the shoe on the other foot—the coming of the Elder Brother to the Prodigal and Father whom he has wronged.  “Let the Wicked forsake his way”  (such as you have trod, and now tread by your letter) “and the unrighteous man his thoughts”, for your thoughts are the thoughts of the whole wicked world, “and turn to the Lord...” and he will abundantly pardon all your hardness, bitterness, unforgiving, accusing, and so forth, for man’s ways and thoughts towards the sinners are as different as Heaven and Earth.

If I read aright, John, you and others, have been very good and I have been very bad.  I say you and others have been very wicked, and I have been very fortunate in disregarding it all and enjoying my Father’s kiss, embrace, ring, shoes, fellowship and friendship.  He did not even allow me to face my angry brother.

PS. Have you noticed the repetition, word for word and thought for thought, of the Cain and Abel tragedy in the whole Bible?  If I were asked, what is the Book all about?  I would say, it is a repetition and exposition of what took place in the Garden of Eden, and what was manifest as flesh and blood in Cain and Abel, and in the wider tribal, national, and world-wide sense.

It is wronging Cain very badly to forget that he was full brother to Abel and a fellow sacrificer on the same altar.  “Why art thou wroth, and why is thy countenance fallen?  If thou doest well, shalt not thou be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door.”  What shall we do with our brother’s sin?  He is in our hands, subject to us, “...and thou shalt rule over him.”  Kill him or die for him?  Abel must have appeared more of a sinner in Cain’s eyes than we are apt to think, when we should kill him.  Accept the sinner at the altar with you, and be accepted; reject him and be rejected.  You don’t recognize in the turning of your back on the one who is worse than you, and quite unworthy of your fellowship, this is murder in God’s sight.  It will repay you well to go over the story of Cain and Abel honestly, and then choose where you want to be.  The world is full of cursed men and women today, who have measured others by their sins and done violence to them, becoming fugitives and vagabonds on the Earth, feeling in themselves, that as they have measured, so shall they be measured and who can stand?  For God has not one made of one flesh and blood, but He has made all men sinners, so that we are one in Adam to forgive and be forgiven; or to accuse and be accused; to reject and be rejected.  This is the Gospel in flesh and blood in every age, so it’s one constant repetition—word for word, thought for thought, life for life, from generation to generation

Dear John:

I will send you a line today to follow yesterday’s.  Did you ever consider the elder life of the Elder Brother? A son of God with a devil’s heart, of which we would never have known but for the unspeakable prodigal brother.

Fancy a holy, pure woman, with a traitor’s heart?  Think of a prayerful, holy man, pure, sacrificing, zealous, and suffering a ball of snow white wool with a wolf inside.  No wonder Jesus said “beware of such.”

Think of the men professing eternal friendship, coming and going to the house of the holy, eating his bread with David, and enjoying his triumph over the Philistines, and sharing the spoils and the honor.  Fancy them becoming the bitterest enemies that he had through his sin, in spite of all his penitence before God. Think of Absalom of the long flaxen hair flowing, leading a revolt against his father and perishing in the attempt against a father’s heart, that he should say, “O, Absalom, my son, my son, would God that I had died for thee!”

Fancy the love of Jezebel for the false prophets, and her hatred of the true--who was the troubler of Israel, the one who revealed her harlot heart and the Serpent, murderous nature; and whose dress and paint was perfect, even till the days she was cast from the walls to the dogs of death.

Think how kind the Philistines were to Delilah, and how cruel they were to Samson?  Fancy an Apostle of Jesus, betraying with a kiss, the only spotless Son of God into the hands of His enemies for thirty pieces of silver!  What would such a man do with me?

Fancy Demas forsaking Paul in jail, when nearly all his fellow workers had turned their back on him (and most of the saints).  Think of Paul having to stand alone at his first answer-and Paul was not a sinner.  Where would I come in with such a devil-possessed crew?  Don’t you think anything is better than in having them around?

Think of all I did for you, and others, in spite of my sins!  Fancy how much you have done for me, in spite of my righteousness. Fancy the labor in building a house for God, and the pain of seeing it become a den of thieves!! 

Suppose I deserved all I got?  What you got, Alfie, Dave, Alex, Lyness, and scores of others got, and what I saved May Carroll and Dave Christie from getting, a year past in April, is that a “double life” on the part of those who do these things in the name of God, and right.

When a wolf falls in a pack, the rest stop to devour it.  The “double life” of the Elder Brother not only caused him to reject his brother, but made him the accuser of his Father, and I have no doubt that the accusing spirit you brothers tasted of would have done the same.  The very idea of me claiming any relationship to God as His Servant and mouthpiece!

And eyes would be just as hotly resented if any of you took up the role of Prophet.  The word “Hypocrite” is never used by Jesus of a man who is a sinner for his sins made manifest, but is used exclusively for the man of “double life”, whom no man can find fault with as sinners; but they are devil-possessed, and the accusers and destroyers of their brethren, and whose heart condition was the hardest thing Jesus had to face, ere He could deliver the people from their power.

Isaiah went for years in rags, barefoot.  They sawed him in sunder, but the “double life” of the holy hypocrites was not revealed till God carried the people into Babylon and burned up their holy city.

I would be willing to be a thousand times more a sinner and a thousand times longer, if I might make manifest the heartless hypocrites of those who called me BROTHER IRVINE.  I have not one regret today, but gladness of heart, for those, for now I know them, and many others as well, to their joy and rejoicing.  And the “epistles” that are hard to digest for wicked hearts, seem to create very healthy appetite in others, for they want more.

Fancy people who compass sea and land to make one proselyte by the truth, while a hundred of their victims are scattered over the Earth, murdered by their Cain spirit (and you are one of them, the victims, though you don’t recognize it).  During the past 6 years, the whole world has been putting into the cup for others what they are going to drink, and choosing the measure of the wrath of the Lamb that they are going to have, but the wicked rejecters don’t know it.  Jesus died for the sins of the world, and also, by the wickedness of the world.  It was because of the blood shed that Abel was accepted of God, and because of the wicked, accusing spirit of Cain that he was rejected. The blood that covers your sins, so few, also covers mine, which are many and big.  When you refuse to minister the value of the blood to my sins, it does not hinder me, but it hinders you, and leaves you to be measured by the standard that you set up for me.  Judge NOT means your brother by his sins, which may be many, for who knows the purpose of them for him or others; When we fail to see this, a beam is in our own eye.  If you can understand Luke 17, it will clear matters up and make you glad you are one of the least, rather than one of the greatest.

Suppose you met Jesus and told Him all about my sins; which would grieve Him most?  My sins, or your wickedness?  Would He not say over again, “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish?”  But suppose you told Him all about your own, and others’ goodness?  Would he not feel how little you valued His life and death for you?

Suppose you brought me to Jesus and said, “Here is a man who ought to be stoned,” and He consented, who would suffer most from the stones, you or me?  If they hurt my body, they would harden your heart; and such has been the result of all the stone throwing during these past 6 years.  It has been pitiable to meet most of those I have met; to see the condition they are in, and yet did not know it—pretending they were walking the “Jesus Way,” while violating the heart of Him who is “The Way.”

Suppose Peter, or any of the Apostles, had gone ‘round with Jesus, all the time ready to accuse another brother, who was a bigger sinner than himself, amongst the Apostles, or outside?  Would he have helped Jesus in showing mercy and healing all who came to Him?

If God had rejected all the other systems in the world, it has been for this same thing.  And whenever the Devil got in, in this way, God has gone out, whether man, church, or generation.

The Seed of the Serpent are heel-bruisers.  The Seed of the Woman are head-bruisers.  In other words, they see by the revelation of God, while the Seed of the Serpent can’t see; and  So, today, the things which I have said, when they come to pass, (and I have less doubt than ever I had,) and the things my wicked, accusing brothers say, don’t, then, if you are an honest man, you will declare yourself.

It was a source of great comfort to me to find that when “the Devil was giving me my ‘delusion from Hell,’” concerning these things—days of judgment, God was giving my enemies the delusion of being caught up to Heaven out of the tribulation.  This was great confirmation, too, that I had got something good, for I had noticed the class of people who held this delusion of God given to all who would hold down the truth of God in unrighteousness.

I am satisfied the Tribulation Days will soon begin, and when they do, and [the] delusion, of God sent on the hypocrites of all the world does not take place, it will be the bruising of the Serpent’s head, and the test that follows will judge him and all his seed (the proud now on the earth).  I am working for something worthwhile, John, and it’s not a gamble.  I have paid a big price, and have the Pearl of Great Price.  All my friends say that the Book is a new book since they have deliverance from the bondage of death and darkness that hovered over them.  The Man who never made a mistake or said an idle word said, the vultures would hover over the carcass—the body called a carcass.  A body is only the carcass, when life is extinct.  Such is my experience.  I say, Dare to be a Daniel, stand alone; no one making me afraid.

I don’t live in a fool’s paradise.  I know what men and women are, both when under grace or wickedness, and when graceless and altogether abandoned to wickedness.  If grace abounded, then we would expect more victory.  When wickedness abounds, then we expect less “rape and high prices.”  Autos are twin lies of the liar.  Proof of their wickedness.

I venture to say there has been more sin of the flesh in the past 6 years, than previous twenty.  A harlot heart does not lead to greater purity of life, but to a more successful way of covering it up, through accusing and condemning others. What is true of The Testimony, when it is spewed out of His mouth, is true also of the poor old world—it suffers also.

Your attitude toward those “the Lord gave you in the Gospel” does not show that you have much fellowship with the Shepherd of the Sheep.  Shepherds do not leave the sheep to be devoured by the wolf.  And while it may seem that I did that, I delivered some, and am sure that not one will be lost.  The goats, wolves, dogs, hogs of them do not count.  Grievous wolves have entered in and risen up amongst the flock--not sparing them, as proved by the many, who have suffered the world over, by their teeth.  They will get deliverance soon, and will know who was the true Shepherd of the Sheep.  “...Smite the Shepherd and the Sheep will be scattered...” There is nothing mysterious, only a repetition in every generation--the triumph of the wicked over the just.   They have scattered, devoured, driven away, and not visited, or gathered the Sheep.  To be a sheep and plead for mercy has only brought more suffering; to hunt with the dogs and wolves, and to feed your own hog at the expense of others, has brought more honor, and place, and power.

Your letter will cause you more suffering than it will me, and your attempt to justify wickedness, only leaves you in worse than nature’s darkness.  Read Isaiah 55, 56 & 57.  It stands for you, and I have hope, if you are an honest man.

Your letter has given me a profitable Saturday night.  I shall esteem it a favor, if you will write me another, worse or better.  I can only wish all that is best for you for this life, as well as that which is to come.

When the church is spued out of His mouth, as The Testimony--proving it by their wickedness, it does not make clean living easier, but harder.  Many of the victims have been forced to marry, while many of the worst offenders still masquerade as righteous, and cover their deeds by confessing others’ sins, in place of their own.

My Dear John,

I got yrs today. I have no desire to hurt you or waste words or pen and ink. Honestly I believe its a battle to the death for your soul and that of others through you. I believe Revelation is the Gospel for these days and you deliberately refuse to believe it and justify the wicked antichrist seed who masquerade in name of God and His church. I say their condemnation and that of all men is that they can't see where we are and whats going on. Gods Love and Mercy and Gospel is to purify make white and try His Bride and reveal these things to them, while they go on rich and increased in goods and have need of nothing and know not that they are wretched, miserable poor blind and naked and to cover and comfort them is surely the worst kind of wickedness. You can pray, praise and preach all you want. But let it be in harmony with Him who died and rose again and is now the Judge of all men and soon coming to take His throne as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

I know the message I give wld cause you to find out many of yr best friends unanointed and full of the accusing spirit of the Devil. But you wld find out the pearls or jewels whom He is anxious to gather out of the rubbish heap of proud and wicked who are to be destroyed from off the earth by the judgements which are appearing every place, and only need an interpreter to give the honest sheep a chance for deliverance. If you and they are not brought into the secret place, how can you expect to be under the shadow of the Almighty when the storm breaks if you need Ps. 91 fulfilled to you.

Is. 54:17 is mine John and I know what I say is the righteousness that comes from God not from men or Devils, as the antichrist seed have. I am not writing you things I have no foundation for, I am giving you a new book with fresh Revelation of what the Lord is doing and wants His people to do and be - with Him in His work of destroying every other kingdom and setting up a Kingdom that will last forever. We are not going back on the old Gospel we are only adding to it what is needed for the time of the fullness of the Gentiles when the Jews return to Palestine as the Sign.

When you might have been delivering men and women from the wrath that rests on them and you justify yourself and others who are in the greatest danger - you stand by the Temple of today as the Jews stood by the Temple of their day - and reject the true Temple and service of the Living God because it dont appeal to your eyes blinded by the wickedness thro having false conceptions of God and His Gospel, and the traditions that have come down to us by all kinds of false prophets who are and have been before us - There were many prophets in Israel who thot the few true prophets were mad and bad enough to kill who preached peace, when there is no peace. But wrath hanging over God's people not for their sins - but for their wicked condemnation for the sins of the people for whom Jesus died.

There may be a few sheep in the many dog dens which you call churches or assemblies that you might have reached and given them the comfort help and hope as they lie bleeding from the wounds that the wolves in sheeps clothing have given them for their sins or shortcomings. What cld yr gospel do for my own flesh and blood who are robbed broken-hearted prisoners blind and bruised by a set of antichristian villains who masquerade in name of God. If you had sought to strengthen my hands and do what John the Apostle did to the people of the church who were suffering as they are now and I do 12 hours every day for far more than you ever dream of, you wld have been a great comfort to God, them and me. But you go on to justify the wickedness of the wicked and rob the righteous of the Righteousness which is from God - as the prophets of Israel did in Isaiahs day - Is. V:20-25.

The time when John the apostle wrote the 3 Epistles Johns Gospel & Rev. was during the last years of his life and ministry when he was rejected by the antichristians in the church because he sought to cover and heal the sick sheep whom the others were casting out & driving away. He wrote the three Epistles in 90 AD. Gospel in 93 - and Revelation in 96 - and these past 6 years I have been fighting the same battle, & now am not writing Rev. but seeing it fulfilled as John has written.

Wm. Irvine's Letter To: Dunbars

My Dear Dunbars:

I have to thank you for writing so faithfully, and enjoy seeing you trying to see some.  "The night cometh when no man can work" will probably be true spiritually for those most active now, and physically as well.  For I guess when the days of Judgment and everlasting Gospel comes, there will be bitter business and little pleasure, and family cares will drive men to the Gospel for provision, protection as well as for salvation and healing.  These three things have been the excuse for neglecting the Gospel in the past.  They will work the opposite way and men won't have to trifle long either way for they will see the consequences on every side.  Every mail brings new things to see for me and the last one was about the best.  When I opened the London paper I saw the face of my old chief in mining days, now head of mining interest in Scotland and one of the owners sent to negotiate terms with the miner's delegates of the government of London.  How vividly it brought back what was taking place twenty-seven years ago when I was leaving on a wild goose chase, as he thought.  He knew I was made of the stuff he needed so badly then, and he did his very best for months to keep me from doing it.

On November 1st, I said Good-bye--sold all I have and stepped out on the waters to walk by faith on a very troubled sea, and me a green horn like grass.

1893, on January first, I thought on finishing my course, so much disgusted was I with what the world looked upon as a successful life. It seemed so hollow and disappointing, both in pleasure, place and power.

1893, on January 8, I decided for the Lord and the battle began.  Five days after I gave public testimony to the men over whom I was taskmaster.  I was 30 years of age on 7th of January, so that I began my 31st year by deciding whom I would serve and whom I would not.  I very soon found out that neither church nor world fitted the New Testament service of the master I had chosen.  All the holy hypocrites around came to me to be friends and work for me.  I soon found out it was for profit every time and only to make more difficult what was already.

I was not satisfied with my knowledge of the Book, and wanted to get rid of much of my old infidelity and other things which I had learned.  I had been in the yoke since I was 8 years of age, and could afford to take a little look around, and in spite of all my friends and enemies, I did what the Lord was prompting me to do.  Thus acting, I was up against all sort of people who either held on to their good position or were seeking a job in the religious world or drawing a salary, and shinning up the slimy path to glory amongst men.  I had opportunities for joining something, if I was willing to shut my eyes and mouth and take the price in mammon of unrighteousness.

As I opened my mouth the Lord filled it, but with what most people did not like.  I benefited in the Bible Institute by getting to know the Book according to the teachings of the best and most holy and evangelical missionary people in the world.  But these things only showed me that I would have to sell myself to someone of them if I wanted place.  I had known too much of place, power and men to be hoodwinked or blindfolded--and finally chose to join the Faith Mission, which showed the most spiritual and fire, and so after two years I started preaching with them in July, 1895--and it was good, for here I found out a little more of myself and a little of the iniquity and bondage of being associated with a holy set of hypocrites who had more devil in them than where I had been, who would make any man a sinner for a word or a trifle--though I did not see it was devilry then.

In Nov. 1896, I was sent to the West of Ireland to the hottest Roman Catholic spot in the world, and where this Irish trouble began at the beginning of this year. After 6 or 7 months there, I got to where the Carrolls were in Nenagh; and there BEGAN the work that has spread so far.

In October, 1896, I was working a mission quite near where the Sinn Feins are now getting more than they bargained for, in the burning of their town on October 3, 1920.  I had been wondering when we would hear of it, but I did not know it would be on the day I STARTED the mission there that stirred the whole of that country for years to come, as I did in Southwest Ireland and finally all over Ireland.

In September 1893, I sent in my resignation for the Colliery and got free 1st of November.  In September they refused to receive me as a student in the Bible Training Institute Glasgow, though I attended the classes from outside.

In September 1898, I was put out of the Faith Mission for not being willing to conform to all their piccadilly discipline, etc.

In Sept 1903, I was put out of the church I had formed in my native town because I would not make it the head of the work I was doing.

On September 1903, I sailed for U.S.A. with George Walker and Irvine Weir, who quarreled the first night they went out without me, which was the second day there.  Then began pioneering, and setting George and other to work and I returned on September 5, 1904, next year to a day. Spent a year at home.

In September 1905, I sailed for South Africa with 17 brothers and sisters, half for Australia and New Zealand; landing in Frisco on April 4, 1906, in time for the Frisco Earthquake.  Then took my way to Paso Robles, and then to Los Angeles, where I had two weeks meetings in a tent where they were strong on all the healing and Pentecostal holiness of that time, out of which the Pentecostal Movement began just as I left.

1907, I got back home in August after having meetings in Canada, in two places.  Came back to the States that year and had conventions and went back to Ireland for July again, by New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa. 

1908--Then back to States (and so for every year, 'til 1913. ) in Sept., eleven years.

In 1914, I was rejected by The Testimony and crossed to U.S.A. on September 5th, the same day and from the same port I had left in 1903 on September 5th, eleven years. 

And now today I have been going over the 3 years, from when I professed till I left business in Nov. 1893. Second of Sept. when I settled to go to the S.W. of Ireland to the following Sept. when I had worked my first Mission in Nenagh; and now this past year in WATCHING. There are so many parallels that I can't get them all. But I can see enough of His gracious hand in it all, and feel more confident that I'm where and as He wants me to be.

These past six years have been fitting me, as John was fitted, to see and say, suffer and do, what we read in Revelation and the end of the war, officially notified by Italy as the 31st October, the day we have been watching for, for one and one half years now is mentioned in the same paper.

And am waiting for peace and safety today till I have my last seal and rejection in three and one-half years--and I don't care what happens then.  I have had enough to satisfy the biggest and worst fool, or knave, or honest man.

These six years have been the best and the worst of all the 27. But they only had in them what has been in all the other years, only intensified.  The rejection only drove me deeper into the truth as it is in Jesus, and further put off the traditions and hypocrisies of the religious world, and such had been my experience.  I had always had a few friends who stuck to me like glue in spite of all the enemies who tried to wipe me out and make every effort fruitless.

If you read the promises to the seven churches (elect) seed, who overcome by keeping their heart in the love of God, you will see the promises that are for the Everlasting Gospel and Philadelphia the Brotherly love.  Revelation 2 and 7:13, covers all the possibilities that are ahead for us, open door no man can shut, and those who have been the synagogue of Satan coming to worship at our feet, etc.  The overcomers are the Elect Lady, the Chosen Bride.  The others are the church of the tares left high and dry in their wickedness.  But we will see some delivered.

Remember me kindly to all there, and cheer up your own flesh and blood; though harder to reach than others, will have a bigger chance now than they ever had, for they will see with their eyes the difference.  It would be very blind eyes that could not see when our shepherd of Psalms 23 does what He says to His Sheep and leaves the other to look on.

Wm. Irvine's Letter to Alfred Magowan
September 2, 1920

My Dear Alfie, Sarah and Alex:

I had a good feast last night and feel like sharing it with you.  If you notice John's Epistles, 1, 2 and 3, were written in 90 A.D., seeking to comfort those who had been rejected as sinners by others who thought they were more holy.  The holy ones went out from the others, showing the condition of the true church, and of the Cain seed at the end of the first generation of true apostles.  You can see how this develops by what John writes in prophetic Revelation.  The false are the rejectors who sit rich and increased with goods.  The true are the rejected. He wrote Epistles in 90 A.D. and the Gospel in 93 and the Revelation in 96, showing the development of his rejection through 6 years.

The Epistles are progressive in that the first is on general principles of Light and Darkness, Cain and Abel seed, loving and hating, sinless and sinful, Accusers and Accused, rejectors and rejected, sin unto death and sin we can pray for and sin we can't pray for, righteousness that does good to others and the other that does evil.  Little children, keep yourselves from Idols (who are the creation of man rather than the true Image revealed in Jesus Christ).

Second Epistle is the Elect Lady (same as the Bride who sups with Him and He with her, of Rev. 3:20) showing that the Elect are chosen by re-jection.  The last verse shows that he is writing from the Elect Sister Church who are rejected in that part.  Verses 9 and 10 (so often used by the rejectors today) is John warning them not to receive or believe in the rejectors.  If they bring another doctrine of Christ than is given in John 1, have no fellowship with them, nor bid them God speed.  How deceptive the Scriptures are to the unanointed Seed.  Verse 11, he that biddeth the rejector God Speed is a partaker of his evil deeds.

Epistle 3 gives us persons as illustrative of the doctrine of Christ, and the Antichrist is the accusing, despising, persecuting spirit – the sin unto death.  The doctrine of Christ is the excusing, justifying, healing, helpful spirit of the sin not unto death.  Gaius, poor, un-healthy, but walking by Truth in spite of that abounding iniquity, re-ceives and shows sympathy and fellowship with the rejected who are in fellowship with John in his rejection (one is the better for having been among the Jews in knowing what their persecuting spirit means).  Diotrephes is the person illustrating the spirit and attitude of the rejectors of the Antichrist sort.

Beloved, follow not that which is evil (hurting others) but that which is good.  He that doeth good (to others) is of God.  He that doeth evil (to others) hath not seen God. Demetrius (who was cast out of the church because of his attitude toward the rejected) hath good reports of all men and the Truth itself, and we also bear witness.  John at this time still had hope of seeing them, and had many things to write which he expected to give them better by word of mouth.

You can see the develop-ments from John 1 to 3.  They began by some turning their backs on others because of their sin.  It ended in wickedness taking possession of the church, and the casting out of all who did not hold the Anti-christian doctrine of doing evil that good might come.

Peter, James and Jude's Epistles are all along similar lines, though at an earlier date, ere wickedness had so fully developed, and deals more with the flower condition which ultimately bore fruit in them becoming the wicked seed.  Those who lift the head and point the finger and take advantage and rule over others for cause, as Cain ruled over his brother, and had no desire for him, as Abel had desire toward his brother, and was willing to be ruled over.  The meek going down and the self-seeking getting up; the humiliated and humiliators.  The victims and the victors.  Those who are selling all to buy the Pearl of great price, and those who count their gold and despise the Pearl.

John's Gospel was written in 93 A.D. to give an exposition of Jesus' at-titude toward sin and towards wickedness, so that what he had seen with his eyes and his hands had handled of the Word of Life, they might have a clear record of for their comfort.  This makes his Gospel ours preem-inently.  I began to see this 2 years ago while listening to the holy Pentecostal people, and it was along side the opening of Revelation, as well as the whole Book and times in which we live.  The creative Word that made all things.  The Light and Life of men (who have it) which darkness can never comprehend.  Darkness is all that men are, without having that Life which is Light as revealed in Jesus in John 8 where we see the source of Life and Light, and the source of Death and Darkness in the accusers.

Chapter 2.  Jesus goes to the wedding, drinks and makes wine, then He goes to the Temple and scourges it out.  Fellowship with the social customs of the people, and utter condemnation of the whole religious fabric; for what the Temple and its retinue was, the whole religious world is.  This came to me on the car coming home one night in Los Angeles, and has been a guiding star ever since in the world's darkness.

In chapters 3 and 4 Jesus with a sample of the best wicked people in Jerusalem, and in 4 He deals with a sample of the worst sinners (in the Pharisees eyes).

Chapter 5 shows Him choosing out the most hopeless among the crowd of sufferers at the pool, and healing him, knowing that he was suffering for his sins.  Then he makes the man break the Sabbath day to the enraging of the Jews, who show their powerless, unmerciful, Sabbath keeping, murderous heart.

Chapter 6.  The bread from Heaven.  Man can either eat it and Live, or refuse it and die.  Except ye eat my flesh and drink my blood (be partakers of what I am to man).  Many said this
is an hard saying, who can hear it?  And many went back and walked no more with Him (it shook even the Apostles).  Moses gave you not that bread.  The Bread of God is He who came down from Heaven and giveth Life to the world.  His disciples murmured, and He said, does this offend you?  And then tells them that one of them will be revealed as a Devil (the accuser).

Chapter 7.  Believing in Jesus brings the Water of Life, which never comes from other lips than those who are to others what He was to them.

Chapter 8.  Light is Him.  Darkness in the accusers.  Life and Light to the woman – the illustration of the Truth in Chapters 6 and 7.  He meets her need, and the living waters bring life to her and confusion to the accusers.

Chapter 9.  Further illustration of the operation of Darkness and Light.  They kept the man in darkness.  Jesus brought him Life and Light.  They cast him out of the Synagogue.  Jesus accepted him and revealed Himself to him.

Chapter 10.  Light and Darkness revealed in service and fellowship.  The True Shepherd and True Sheep.  The false shepherd revealed when the wolf comes to devour.  The true protects.  The false deserts the sheep to be destroyed.

Chapter 11.  The power of Darkness and death revealed in Lazarus who was a Jerusalem scribe; the power of Life and Light reaching the victim through Mary and Martha.  We see what makes a tomb and puts victims in it.  We also see what opens it and raises the dead and spreads a feast and fills the house with the odor of the ointment.  What a contrast.  This is the Father's heart and home.  The Prodigal heart revealed and the tomb heart of the elder brother.  No wonder they still try to show the tomb of Lazarus outside Bethany 30 feet under the surface.  The world today is beautifully typified in chapter 11, the fruit of the 2 methods of service of chapter 10.

Chapter 12.  The feast of wickedness and the feast of Love, one stirred up to kill, the other to die for man.

13th to 17th chapters.  The whole outline of true Christian fellowship, from the slave washing the feet of the disciples, to the assuring of them of their high calling in oneness with God, the Trinity and one another.  Very necessary to have Judas, a sample of the hopelessness of an accusing heart.

Chapters 18 and 19.  The conflict between Light and Darkness. Life and Death.  The Cain and Abel seeds.  Jesus in the tomb.  The Pharisees in their synagogue giving the Lord thanks for the peace brought to Jerusa-lem.  When they are saying Peace and Safety, the Seal is broken, the stone rolled away, the bindings loosed – Light and Life have triumphed.  Jesus alive.  Judas has found out his own wicked heart and is weeping and wailing, when the disciples rejoice that they have seen the Lord.  Fancy how this must have affected the whole city.

But still the lying goes on, and the gainsaying, even to this hour.  Though He walked about for 40 days and ascended, they did not see.  The veil abides, and the Jews have been driven for 1850 years from their homes and scattered, and still the veil is on their eyes.

Now we come to Revelation as we understand it, and wait for the Sun to rise after the darkest hour.  The first streak of dawn is the Jew coming back to Palestine, and soon we shall see the fuller meaning of Sal-vation in the setting up of the Kingdom, and the destruction of all other

Kingdoms.  Leaving us a New Heaven and a New Earth – with Jesus King of Kings and Lord of Lords, ruling the meek of the Earth in every corner of this devil – possessed earth.  He will make the appointments and will be glad to see the meek have a chance of ruling.  It will not be the high standard of U.S.A. Republicanism.  The people for the people by the people, but the rule of God by His people for the people, which will be as different as darkness and Light.

The Millennium has come.  The Devil and his seed are all gone.  The meek are inheriting.  I can see Alex taking very sheepishly the right to rule over his territory where he has been hunted like a deer, with nothing but sorrow in his heart for those we called brothers, as he sees what an awful price they have to pay for their brief spell of authority.

Alfie and Sarah will be wondering if it is all a dream, that they should realize that all things are true, and that where so many doors were shut, the door is still open that will never be shut again for a thousand years, and not only opportunity but power to meet every need of every person in every place.  Would not a thousand years reign over Philadelphia recompense Alex for the few weeks torture they gave him in it, be-cause he had been faithful in a few things?

Before that time we will have many glorious opportunities for service we never counted on having – with persecutions.  These things comforted others in other days who were suffering as we are today, and had to go to sleep, while we will be privileged to play a part  in the bringing about of these grand and glorious things that stagger our mind and imagination.

We are like rats in the cellar coming out in the full blaze of sun-light – we can't see at once.  This letter is a repetition of many past storms I have been through.  After the storm I can always count on hav-ing pearls in reach that were not there before.

With best love in Jesus Christ, who is more interested in the conflict than we can ever be.

Wm. Irvine's Letter to Bob Lauchlin in Scotland.

My Dear Bob:

Count it all joy that you are where you are.  In Johannesburg S.A., if ever you see it surrounded by great heaps of rubbish, much bigger than you see around Kilsyth and Broburn.  But there is very little gold in them, only a trace they could not take out.  God's rubbish heaps are what you see stand for churches through the world's history, and every generation He separates the Gold just as you see it happen during the past 6 years.  The Gold to be refined through suffering in the fire of affliction, the dross to be gathered for burning up.

If you look at the last chapter of Revelation you will find two sorts spoken of.  Those who keep His commandments as He did toward sinners, and accusers – Die rather than violate the Love of God towards others.  The sum of all God ever said is to be willing to die for the sinner at the hands of the accusers.  The heap of rubbish is seen in verse 15, "For without are dogs, sorcerors, whoremongers, murderers, idolaters and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."  These words John wrote to people who for 6 years had treated sinners the way you and I were treated and because John took the sinners part against them, they persecuted him till he barely escaped being cast into a caldron of boiling oil, and to save him from their fury, the Romans sent him to the Isle of Patmos as a slave fisherman.

The trouble began in 90 A.D. when he wrote First, Second and Third John, showing the doctrine of Christ and the doctrine of Antichrist of whom Diotrephes was a sample, and Gaius and Demetrius was a sample of the rejected Christian seed who stood for the defense of the Gospel, and were cast out and rejected for it.  John's Gospel was written in 93 A.D. to prove from Jesus' works and practice the doctrine of Christ.  It was the power of this that made them try to kill John even though he was 93. In 96, while a slave he wrote Revelation applying what he had said to them to the 7 churches in Asia, which [was] the cream of Paul's work, showing the violation of the Love of God meant death to the individual, the church and the whole Gentile Church to the very end of the days of the Gentiles.  This was so wild that they thought he had senile decay and was mad and set him free, and he was allowed to die amongst his friends shortly after.  Sin amongst God's people is for the purpose of revealing the wickedness that abounds in His name amongst men who have not His nature of Love in them.  The Prodigal in the far country had a better conception of his father's heart and home than his wicked elder brother.

Sin causes us to know ourselves and humanities needs.  The abounding Grace of God and utter eternal hopelessness of cursing of helping men by wickedness or with thinking, speaking or acting.  The outcasts of Israel in Jesus' day was God's gold, gathered out by the rejectors for their sins, waiting in Darkness and the shadow of Death, God's deliverance as we are today.  It was the poor, broken hearted prisoners, blind and bruised whom God was interested in and the exposing, judging and destroying of the whole rubbish heap that's "carried on" in name of

God, their thieving and robbing and doing violence to the whole world in His name with the Devil as their father, and doing his works of murder and lying against God's mercy.

This has been the problem in every age from Cain and Abel to you and me and . There is no room for any ifs ands and buts or anything else.  We are in the Judgment Days, and you will soon see the things I'm telling you are true and the Prodigals and those who have been driven away, robbed, dishonored and forgotten will be gathered into the Kingdom of God, and those who are looked upon as favored of God will be rejected and cast out and down if they don't forsake their wicked way and life.

Many are called, few chosen, and only the merciful seed have any chance.  The Gospel gathers of all sorts, but when the choosing comes, the accusing, persecuting despisers of their fellows are cast away, while the others are put into cleansing and fitting for the Masters use.  You have learned more of the heart of God where and as you have been, then if you had preached for a thousand years; for you have been in God's school, while the others have gone on in their darkness and become more and more wicked till one feels they are almost hopeless.  But there will not be one sheep or Shepherd lost, while there will not be one wicked seed escape.

I have had a hard row to hoe, but I praise God for it; for I have been a sinner set for the defense of the Gospel, which is much harder than either Paul or John had to face.  And I can truly say His Grace has proved sufficient and you will soon see proof of it.

These past 6 years, I have given them the exact truth John covers in his Epistles, Gospel and Revelation, and did not know how perfectly it had all been done, not by wisdom or power of mine, but as proof that the same Spirit that wrought in others in their day rejection wrought in me mightily.  When God cuts a stone out of the mountain without hands or help of man to smite the whole Kingdoms of wickedness in the world, it must be a rather lonely, trying experience.  But the end is glorious, for that stone is to grow and become a mountain and fill the whole earth.  This is the triumph of God's power and grace before the eyes of men.

Things and fast ripening and the oven is getting hotter everyday, and the waters of Judgment rising higher in all the world, and we will soon see the victors and the vanquished, and those whose heads are highest will bow in the dust and those who have been ashamed to look up will be exalted before the eyes of all men.

If I were to tell you all that I see coming, you would think I had been filled with new wine.  But John has saved me the trouble by giving us Revelation, and your being in the army was as much a part of it as your being rejected and being ashamed and appear before your brethren accusers.

Read John 8 and see what Jesus did with the woman taken in adultery, and after He had done it, He said I am the Light of the world, He that followeth me in doing as I have done shall not walk in darkness, but have the Light of Life, and though He told the Pharisees He was the Son of God and proved it to them, they only took up stones the more to kill Him, showing that the seed who accused the woman would also accuse and stone the spotless Son of God.  When you know what a spiritual dog, sorcerer, whoremonger, murderer, idolater and liar are, you will have gone a long way to be able to look on  as God and I see it.

Samson knew more of who the Philistines were after he had been betrayed by Delilah into their into their hands, than when he was slaying them with the jawbone of an ass out of which his thirst was quenched.  Though his eyes were out in the Philistine's eyes, they could see by the anointing of God, and knew the day of their overthrow was coming, and it came so that they will never forget it.  Just when they were at their very biggest and best and when Samson was the Jest amongst them the house fell down.  Such you will see with your own eyes ere long, and your heart will rejoice in the God of your salvation, who stands by His anointed if all the world forsake, and will avenge every violation of His Love and Mercy to man in every age and place.  Keep your eye on Iceland, England and the East, and you will have enough to cheer and encourage.

Wm. Irvine's Letter to Ritzman
October 10, 1920

My dear Mrs. Ritzman:

I was glad to get your letter and see that when you have time you don’t forget me.  It’s better to think of others and their needs than even of our own, which tends to make us more self-centered and more self-seeking, which is the base for wickedness when it gets to the point of seeking our own to the hurt of others.

You need not fear any misunderstanding regarding affairs at Watts.  Those who did the misunderstanding were those who sought to make capital out of it for their own profit.  If I could give you all you need and the desire of your heart in perfect health and strength, it would be yours tomorrow or today and nobody would give me greater joy in having it.  But we must not forget that God’s ways of working are to make dead before alive, blind before we see, and weak before we are strong.  It was the barren whom He made fruitful and blessed their seed.  To read Hannah’s song is very useful when we are seeking to understand His purposes in grace.

1 Sam. 2.  That the meek who are to inherit the earth should be subjected to such humiliation and scorn seems queer.  That the prophets who have given us the clearest revelation of the mind and purpose of God regarding men and world affairs should have got the afflictions and persecutions of their fellows.  The Psalms of David, the sufferings of Job, the triumph of Naomi, Ruth and Esther was made possible because of the sufferings they endured.  That His choosing of us should always be accompanied by our rejection and being put outside the camp.  That those who seek to be overcomers by keeping our hearts in the Love of God should be the targets for the hatred of those who name (His name) seems strange, but it is all part of the one great plan.  We are strangers and pilgrims as all our fathers were who seek a country whose builder and maker is God.  The world and the church are exactly opposite of what they will be when the Kingdom is set up on the earth, and so we don’t wonder at the constant sense of oppression and injustice we feel in our hearts.

Jesus said, “In the world ye shall have tribulation but in me ye shall have peace,” and it’s only as we see in Him the realization of all our heart desires and our hopes that we have peace.  How little comfort the disciples had as they looked at all the cruelty and wrong done to Jesus as He was delivered into the hands of wicked men to be mistreated as a criminal.  But when they understood with words that after the world, flesh and Devil had done their worst, God would raise Him up and set Him on a Throne as Judge, and finally send Him back to reign where He had been crucified.  This is our hope.  This is our confidence.  Here is the patience of our faith and here we triumph.  This has sustained all who were His children under every possible trial and injustice.

This is the note of Heb. 11 that gives us names and description of the sufferings of those whom He had chosen to reveal Himself to, in, and through.  I was asking a little comfort and I got Mark 14 and read the story till I came to where in 61 and 62, "Art thou Son of God?"  He said, "I am and ye shall see the Son of Man (whom they were dishonoring) sitting on the right hand of Power and coming in the clouds of Heaven."  See how they treated Him, being blind through their unbelief.  They spat on Him, smote Him, and asked Him to prophesy who smote Him.  Little did they think that the words and actions were the very true witnesses by which they would be judged.  How dark it would have been for Him had He not had the clear vision of the other side of the picture, and we need to have our faith quickened in this direction.

If I had not been conscious these 6 years that one day He would give me credit for my desire towards God and man, it would have been very dark as one could see all the meanness and wickedness practiced only because I was and had been the sealed of God.  Though they could not see it.  To have been amongst others just as a speckled bird and a sheep amongst Goats and wolves only and always to be devoured seems a very unhappy experience, but these are the marks of being not of this world but of the Kingdom that is yet to come on the earth and rule for 1000 years.  I have felt this in The Testimony for many years.  In the religious world often from the very first and through a large part of my life in the world of business.  In it, but not of it.  Even it’s pleasure and profit did not appeal to me or give me any satisfaction.  The very success of The Testimony never gave me any satisfaction, while to others it seemed to give them the very desire of their heart and many of the most enthusiastic were only a weariness to my heart, and then I could not always understand myself.  I felt for long that The Testimony was not my home or rest.  If we knew how anxious He is to have us find no home or rest, hope or confidence but in Him and being with Him as His Bride when He comes to reign, we would have some comfort in the very misery of our life here.  You can see how the disciples were always viewing from the present standpoint, whereas He was always looking at it from the standpoint beyond the cross, the grave, the shame, the suffering.  He endured the cross, despised the shame, and is now set down at the right hand and coming back to reign where they put Him on a cross because He was so different from them; and to think that these things are to take place in our day, fills my heart with joy and gladness and it can’t be too soon for me or for all others on earth or Heaven who have had that same God-given nature that had brought us to share the cross and the shame of being continually taboo amongst those who name His name and those who don’t.

The patience of the saints is to take all the suffering that comes and still triumph in the fact that it is only for a while.  What you suffer from is what is common to all the true seed of God, and think how many have laid their heads on a dying pillow, tired out with waiting for the Kingdom to come on earth as it is in Heaven.  During these past years whether I have smoked or worked with my hands, gone to a picture show or whatever I have been doing, it has only been to deaden the pain and relieve the suffering because of the conflict within, and when I go to bed and get up in the morning it’s only with the confidence that it’s a day or a sleep nearer hand, the consummation of that grand and glorious day when the desire of His heart and ours shall be accomplished.  Here is the patience of the saints in their faith.  I have often looked at the smug satisfaction of many in The Testimony and the religious world as they seemed satisfied with meetings, experiences, and blessings and truth and all the rest of it, while in my heart was a same hungering and thirsting that nothing could take away or satisfy.  It’s like the unsatisfying craving for He whom our soul desires, the desires of a childless mother, the longing of the widowed heart or that of the orphan or the pilgrim in the foreign land.  This makes it easy for me to be anywhere under any condition, receiving any sort of treatment.  But when I get the Book or the paper today, they are like the time tables guiding me to the spot and day and time when I shall see the desire of His heart and mine on all His and our enemies, and also the glad day when the world shall have become His and ours, and we shall have the New Earth and Heaven wherein dwelleth the righteousness that pleases Him and suits us.

2 Cor. 4:17-18 sums it up in our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.   For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.  As wickedness has been increasing by manifesting, the suffering has been intensified and all we can have these days is the hope quickened by the signs of the times that indicate that His coming draweth nigh and the desire will not be fully satisfied till He comes whose right it is to reign.  Not a day or a night passes that my thoughts don’t comfort me in this direction.  Not a paper comes that does not give me more hope.  Not a time I open the Book that I don’t see it more clearly revealed, and though I’m like a bride that would almost walk on the water to bring her nearer the ship her beloved is coming on, I feel the hope and possess my soul in patience that it’s coming, coming, coming, when all the wrongs shall be righted no matter what they are and when our hearts shall be as well satisfied as they have been hungry from the day we first were born from above.  We are privileged beyond measure in being able to see these things coming, and have the comfort of being more or less prepared for them and we need to encourage one another, and much more as we see the day approaching and talk and write to each other with that purpose, knowing that the longing and hope and desire has not been forgotten in us to be disappointed, but as His appointed way of preparing the Kingdom for the Bridal day.  The grave conditions in the world today are causing many to lose heart and commit suicide; but for us who can see the edge of the silver lining of the dark clouds and the other in disorder, we rejoice with trembling and can laugh with Him at the overturning of all the great and wise as they would try to prolong the present evil world and thereby hinder one King coming to reign in righteousness with the meek of every age to whom He has promised a share in the Kingdom of one and God to be set up on the earth.

Wm. Irvine's Letter to Alfred Magowan ------------RE SMOKING & TOBACCO

My Dear Alfie and Sarah:

I was glad to get yours today and enclosures, which are all good.  If they don't help others they always give the Spirit of God a chance of showing Himself in us, which is the only mark of true Christianity that we can rely on.  The whiter men are without this the blacker they are, and the blacker we are with this the whiter we are – paradoxical though it may sound.

I'm sure you will feel better for speaking out what you feel about smoking.  I felt you were suffering from this and had felt it in your letters. Now frankly, I say I had much more of a struggle to return to SMOKING and letting people see it than I had getting rid of it, and have seen more, and understand better since I did it than at any time in 27 years.  It was the means of delivering me from fear of men, and I'm sure God does not regard it one iota, and recognize that it was one of the points where we did much violence to the Gospel for we really made it a point where many turned away, and where many fell down, and I'm not sorry at having to drink my share of the Golden Calf, which we had unconsciously set up.  I'm not afraid of my brother stumbling over my smoking, but I would not like a dog or hog or wolf or goat to fail in barking, grunting, biting or butting.  Let them all have their fling.  You will find the Spirit of God always working in you as you seek to justify the sinners, and cease the moment you begin to justify the innocent or wicked.

When the nonsmoking church which prohibits is rejected and devil-possessed, it seems only reasonable to expect that those who have the anointing of God should be sinners under their condemnation.  This, I firmly believe is the cause for all my so terribly being a sinner, and I would not change places with any or all the people in the world.  When they have all finished, they will be convinced as I am that we gravely misrepresented our God in the way we treated the use of wines and tobacco.  It had no more to do with the Gospel than the color of a man's hair or the smell of onions.  Wherever you find this Devil's lie, you will also have the counterpoint out of the mouth proving the heart error of those who have not known His ways.  It would have been just as wrong for me to smoke or do anything to cause my brother to stumble or to be offended, as now I recognize it to be necessary that in my life there should be conditions that would stumble everybody who isn't my brother, when the secrets of men's hearts are being revealed by a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.  To attempt to read the words of the prophets without these conditions is futile.  The CALLING of all sorts demands that we give them no human cause for offense.  The CHOOSING demands that we give every man occasion to stumble if he have not the heart of God.  If God is not offended in my smoke, neither will any man who is of God. I make no apology, no defense, no excuse.  I smoke willingly and by choice, believing it is a part of God's method of accomplishing His purpose in me and through me, and of which I am not ashamed, but rather glory when the zoo barks, grunts, bites and devours.

If we knew the conditions under which all the prophets wrote and spoke, we would understand better what is meant.  Most people would not read the Psalms of David if they had in mind what was in the minds of his contemporaries.  All prophets were the defenders of sinners, while the false were the accusers and condemners.  It was more difficult to transform Jonah from being the preacher of the Gospel to being the messenger of Judgment, than it first appears, and when you understand Jonah, you will better grasp what I say – the Message of the Gospel is to sinners.  The Message of the Judgment is to wicked workers of violence, such as the Ninevites are called. The proof of Jonah's prophetship is in that he was sent to Ninveh. the people or which are not sinners but WICKED.  He was cast out.  He was swallowed up.  He was vomited up, that he might deliver 120,000 who did wickedness and violence, and did not know it till he told them the consequences of it. Jonah did not understand it; the men in the boat less so.  But the Ninevites knew; the whale less so.

My father smoked and used rum, but the bread he brought for his children we ate.  Our need and the love we had for him covered all else.  I did not know what a good dad I had and what a wicked son I had been till I looked on his face in the coffin when we were laying him away a year before the war.  The night before he died he said I was the best son he had.  The night after he was buried I knew that I was the most wicked son he had.  I had violated the Spirit of Christ and God toward him and caused him to suffer much through my attitude toward tobacco and rum – THROUGH THE INFLUENCE OF A SET OF WHITE WASHED SEPULCHERS WHOM I HAD MISTAKEN FOR CHRISTIANS.

If I had all the words I have spoken against drink and tobacco back again, I would drink them all down so that they would never stumble another; for now I know they were of the Devil, while I thought they were of God when I spoke them.  The abuse of tobacco and drink, like everything else, is wrong.  The use of them depends on the Spirit of God, not on the fear of men or those who set themselves up as judges.  The use or misuse of any gifts of God gives opportunity for the Devil to come in and say:  Thou shalt not and thou shalt not.  Even to abuse life, time, tongue or any other possibility is contrary to the whole order of God's universe, for He has made ample provision in every sphere for use or abuse, but none of those that become as Gods, to know good and evil for others, and be reserved in chains of darkness for the Judgment Day.

The birth and baptism of Jesus produced what completely shuts the door on every son of pride and iniquity, and what we find at the beginning of His life and ministry, we find at the end of all His anointed as recorded in the Book.  He was the Son of God from Heaven, giving a perfect, progressive revelation in flesh and blood.  We are of the earth, putting on Christ progressively.  So the perfection He began with is only ours at the end.  Paul and John had succeeded in stumbling the great majority of those who had been their erstwhile lovers and friends.  Why men should be found at the end of their life and ministry between a few who would die for them, and a mob ready to take their lives is not a human or moral condition, and we need to read their words in the light of these conditions.  We are not at the beginning, but at the end of the day of Jesus Christ. The Prodigal and Elder Brother are not baby tales, but for veterans.  As many as I love I rebuke and chasten, not because they are innocent, but guilty in the purpose of God, that they may have a fuller revelation of themselves, the hypocritical church, and the Triune God.

The more hearty our rejection and the more ground for it, and the more perfect will the revelation be.  It takes a strong man to be a sinner of this sort, as of all other kinds.  I would suppose that your kindness of heart makes you inclined to receive what I write in this strain as only a mild form of self-comfort, and perhaps some self-deception; but I write you what I believe to be the Truth of God and the juice of the whole Book and every true experience.  I know it sets the zoo going as at meal time.

Of every tree in the Garden thou mayest freely eat, but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the Garden thou shalt not eat, lest ye die.  This is the fruit that makes us Gods, knowing good and evil for others.  You can see the power of the Devil has to shine, and become the god of this world.  But he is reserved in chains of darkness and death.  Pride of being better than others.  Iniquity of doing to others what we would not like done to us, and what God cannot do for us, was the cause for death – chains and darkness taking possession of Angels and men until the Judgment. The bands of death and chains of darkness have passed on all men and nations who have erred in becoming as gods, knowing good and evil for others.

The Kings and Rulers are taking counsel today to break the bands and cords which the Lord had bound them with, from Cain to the Kaiser.  This explains the whole man and world conditions. The Roman Catholics have been in chains and darkness hundreds of years since the reformation days, like all the reformation countries, and their attempts will fail.  The pride and iniquity of the Allies will fail.  The pride and iniquity of the U.S.A. will fail with its self-destruction, liberty and justice as outlined in Wilson, Harding and Co.  Is it not like derision when a dog and monkey fall out and a king goes to make peace and the monkey bites the king, who dies and tumbles all hopes of the Allies in the finishing of the war, Venizelos was the product of the Allies and the corner stone of their hopes in the East.  In November Wrangel and France failed to deal with the Bolshis.  Harding was elected to insure justice to the nations over the head of the League of Nations – the League met on the 15th.

You mentioned in one of your letters about the beast of Revelation being a combination of the 4 beasts.  This may be so, as describing the conflicts between the conditions operating, which are not of God (in conflict with the Kingdom).  The Lion, Bear, Leopard and fourth beast are all more manifest with their worldwide following.  All those who are clamoring for self-determination and liberty have offended in pride and iniquity, and have been bound for thousands of years (some of them) while others are doing it more recently, but all our bound while the individual position is revealed in all men being for some of the four beasts, which each in their own way may think they are better than others and so do the very thing they complain of others doing to them.  In Russia we had the pride and iniquity of Czardom; then of the Bourgeoise under Kerensky, now the Bolshiviki.  It looks like a jail break in the whole world, and now the power who had bound them and put them in cords will now speak in His wrath and vex them in His sore displeasure.  For they have not recognized whose were the Bands and Cords and the long-suffering mercy of Him to men.  Pride and Iniquity, Death and Darkness, Bands and Cords, write the history of Angels and men on the earth, producing a prison full of revolters who are like a bull in a net – with what the Lord and His Anointed in every age have said.  It is a queer sort of tug of war, a world full of wickedness versus the Lord and His Anointed.  He that sitteth in the Heavens shall laugh, then shall He speak to them in His wrath, and vex them with His sore displeasure – whether it be the Pope in  or in Rome; and the U.S.A. International head, the League or the Lion.  What matter who or what they are, He and His Anointed will triumph.  It is ours to watch.  The Greek joke is on them, the Polish joke is on them, the Irish joke is on them, the Empire joke will be on them, as the Russian joke is on them, and the U.S.A. with its 20,000,000 women voters will be on them, and later the Jew joke will be on them, the laugh will all be on the side of the Lord and His Anointed in Heaven and Earth.

No question will be asked when He gives power – it will speak.  It's enough for us to know a little of what to expect as we watch, wait and pray – with a little of His Seal in our foreheads.  He is no fool, the Carpenter of Nazareth and that fisherman of Galilee, and the many who are saying, "even so, come Lord Jesus."  It was what came from Heaven that settled all the arguments in days past from Abel to John, and it will be again.  Don't worry about anybody or anything.

My dear Dunbars:

I am here in good time as the League of Nations i s not to be ratified till 1st Jan., so don't see any difficulty in all working out right. I wrote Lloyd George last Jan. asking that he would need to keep his eye on Euphrates Valley about 1st Jan. Little knowing that I would be here before that, and having no expectation. Certainly the Lord works His own way, and it’s ours to say as last verse of Rev., "Even so, come Lord Jesus, come quickly. Even so come, as revealed in Rev. He says "Surely I come quickly"

No time will be put off in fulfilling all these things. Blessed be he that neither adds to nor takes from the prophesies of this Book. Five years of war, 5 months of first woe, and then cometh the second woe. The Mohammedan world is surely ripening for a big spill and it will get what the Mahisonds of India got the other day. They bombarded and burnt the town, and fired and gave them a good many thousand rounds of machine guns.

Well, I like Jerusalem. It's quite a study in all kinds of religions, buildings and people; crowding the poor people into all kinds of places not fit to live in. The old streets are not more than 10 to 12 feet wide with little holes in the walls for shops, not more than 10 or 12 feet square inside and only the front for door and window and all together. Of course, there are some other larger than that, but this is the size of what you would call the business places inside the Wall of the City.

There are four quarters - the Jew, Mohammedan, Greek and Roman Catholic quarters. Soldiers guard all the specially Holy places to keep them from fighting with one another about who has possession of the Holiest ground. There are 515,000 Mohammedan Arabs in Palestine, 65,000 Jews, 62,000 Christians, (that is, Greek. Roman Catholic, Armenian and Protestant) The orthodox Jews wear a long lock of hair each side of their face, hanging down. The Armenian have much valuable property, and the various religious orders all vie with each other about who will have most and best, and have increased price very much on all their property.

I am living in a hotel where it costs me $2.00 per day, but I have 3 beds in my room so I am going to share a room at 50 cents per week with an old man 70 years of age, who was born in Ireland, lived many years in Boston and has been 10 years in Palestine. He rents from an old Drago-man who is very nice, and has shown many notable men all over Palestine . Lost his sight with Kitchener in the Soudan, and is full of valuable information regarding Palestine before and during the War.

An American is starting a paper on Dec. 9th, so I will send you a copy of it. You can send me a good weekly paper regular if you care to. We heard today of a meteor that fell into the Pacific and made the ocean to boil very hot recently, but I have not seen anything in the paper of it. There are many reports going wildly around, same as the Turks used to have during the War, but we are sure there will be many things wilder than any that are now told, - coming in spite of all the false, quieting stories told.

I was at Church (English) today, and h ad a taste of how the Army chaplin does his work here. He talked about Peter in four aspects, finishing up with Peter - a man of solid character. Then they took the collection, I had taken a little bat from under the foundation of Pilate's judgment hall. I let it loose in my room and it disappeared and we could not get it, but my Indian friend found it in the Church; that it had hid in the sleeve of his jacket, and got loose while we were singing the Te Deum and flew all thru the Church, probably seeing and saying as much as most of us did.

We had several companies of the York regiment in Church with their guns etc. The old man I am going to stay with took possession of the British foreign Bible Book Shop, and kept it open during the Turkish and G erman occupation - for which they gave him a sum of money. He is dotty in some ways, but can see and say more than most of them who occupy higher positions. I shall try and be kind to him till I get a better companion.

I have been to Bethany and seen Lazarus ’ tomb, Martha and Mary's house, Simon the Pharieee's house, the stone Mary stood on when Jesus met her on His way to raise Lazarus. I have been to see the stone with the print of Jesus' foot on Olivet where He ascended from. The Royal Church the Kaiser built is fulfilling Dan.11:45 with others in Jerusalem . They have set least two large new Churches inside the walls, as well as one of the best and most valuable manuel schools outside Jerusalem, now run by American. The German Hospice, or Pilgrim's hotel is now occupied by the British Governor of Jerusalem. The British staff occupied the Royal house and Chapel on Olivet. There are many German residences now occupied by British off icers near the railway station West of Jerusalem one half mile or so.

The German buildings were all built of stone taken from Solomon's quarries from which he built the Temple. These quarries are under the North part of the City, inside the walls and about 100 feet under the surface. Solomon and his builders followed the good building stone down as they now follow other minerals, and cut the stone out of the solid by picks with a long handle, and then wedged them off by driving wooden wedges in between and then wetting them till they swelled and broke off the stone. The stone is very soft when cut out of the solid but hardens up quick once exposed to light and air, so Solomon was a wise man.

From the side of Olivet, which is on the East side of Jerusalem, with the Valley of Jehoshaphat between, you get the best view of the City. Here the Garden of Gethsemane is with the Church of Weeping just a little above it, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. The whole side of the V alley is covered with tombs of Jews, Mohammendans and Christians who think it will be here the judgment will take place, and so they want to be first. Probably the first will be last and the last first. Here is Absolom's tomb at which the Jews cast stones, and spit as they pass by. Also the tomb of James, the Lord's brother and Zacharias. The village and Pool of Siloam is just further down the valley.

Bethany lies on the road to Jericho -- 2 1/2 miles Northeast of Jerusalem. You can see the Jordan and Dead Sea 20 miles away, with Jericho about 3 miles from the top end of the Dead Sea. Dead Sea is about 1,200 feet below the Mediterranean which is 300 feet deep. From the Mediterranean to Jerusalem, the ground rises all the way, and the height of Jerusalem is about 2,300 to 2,500 feet above sea level. You can see many of the principle Old Testament mountains from Mt. of Olives, including Mt. Frank where the cave of Abdullam is.

The Hill of Evil Counsel is just above Village of Siloam. The Hill of Offence is on the side of the valley on the West side of Jerusalem, both connected with David' s life and time, Shimea and Aththephel.

On the opposite or West side of Jerusalem, you have the valley of Hinnin, or Gihon, and the pools upper and lower, and the letter being where the bridge creases the valley from the station. The Joppa Gate is on the West side, and is the one you enter coming from the Station. Here is where the Kaiser got the Turks to cut away a part of the 40 foot wall and make a street that you can enter by, and I think it was much needed thing, though it is much condemned by the world. He built a clock tower on the one side. Outside of this Gate is a large open space where the Turks hung all their victims, and photographs here showing many people hanging by their necks for a verity of causes. To the right of the Gate inside the Tower of David , the old Palace fort where Herod and the rulers before him, retired when trouble took place either inside or outside You can see the ruins of the fortifications then in existence.

From this Gate going South, is Zion proper where the swell people lived and where the Royal Gardens were. Further along you come to the Gate of David, and outside you have the site of Caiaphas' house, the tomb of David, and also the supposed place where Jesus broke bread and wh ere the Holy Ghost fell on them in the upper room. These places are where Churches have been built and where pilgrims come from all over the world to see and pay for it, though now every thing is free as the soldiers come here for leave and are shown over by the Padres of the Y.M.C.A.—most of the R.C. and who seem well fitted to impress the visitor with the realities of the fiction of some religious Cult, especially Roman Catholic.

When we go to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where Jesus was supposed to be crucified and buried. Here they show you the place where the three crosses stood. Three holes in the rock. The old well where Helens, the Mother of Constantine who built Constantinop1e found the three crosses after three centuries; then the stone where Jesus was anointed, and then the place where He was buried and where He was raised and appeared to Mary in the garden. From this right down to Pilate's Judgment Hall on the East side of the City leads the Via–Dolarosa– or Way of Death, where are marked 14 stations of Cross, as seen in all Roman Catholic churches, giving the incidents of the way to the Cross. At one corner is the mark in the stone built into the wall, where Jesus put His hand when He fell beneath the cross.

This whole story the Protestants rejects, and claim a place from the North side of the City outside the walls on the edge of the old quarry– a place like unto a skull with two holes in the rock like eyes, and otherwise like a skull in shape. Here are shown a tomb low down at the foot of a rock and a garden made on top of the quarry rubbish–supposed to have been the site.

I need not say that there is much cause to doubt both of their theories, and if they all said, "we do not know," we could believe them better, and it matters little to those temple builders whether they have the site or not.

Of one thing we are sure, they have not the Spirit of the Man whose footsteps they so much value because of the power it gives them over the poor pilgrims who have come from over the world to look on their imposture and listen to their tale. The Judgment Hall of Pilate is more convincing. They show the place where He was scourged, the hall where He was mocked and the place where P ilate showed Him to the people, and where they cried "away with Him, release unto us Barabas," and where Pilate washed his hands to free himself from the guilt of this Just Man. This appealed more to me, as the old arch and the courtyard, etc. all seem real and was found covered by 15 feet of rubbish.

Jerusalem has been besieged 20 times, and every time left more or less a pile of rubbish in so much that the valley that runs between the lower and upper part of the City on the side of the hill opposite Mt. Olivet, has been most filled up, and is now covered 100 feet from it 's original bedrock. The temple area where the Mosque of Omar sits, covering the original Rock of Moriah, where Abram went to sacrifice Isaac. You see the hole in the rock where the blood from the burnt sacrifice ran down into the underground passage which carries it away. Here under the rock, Elijah and Mohamet prayed. and here also Mohamet struck his head on the rock which God had softened so that Mohamet's head made a hole 2 feet in diameter and at least a foot deep. The rock is now hard as flint so that the dent remains. I wonder the Lord don't make it hot enough to melt again.

In the Mosque there sat the House of Solomon, they have altars where David, Elijah, Jesus, Mohemet and Zechariah prayed, and a footprint of Jesus seen on the floor– all very much like palpable to suit all tastes, for the Mohammedans don 't want to miss any "Baks heesh " any more than the other liars. You can't smoke in the Temple area Yo u mu st either take off your shoes, or put on another pair over your shoes that are big enough to make the marks that Jesus is said to have made on some of these rocks. The price of sandals is 6 cents. Many of themselves don't use sandals, and one could notice their heels sticking out of British army s ocks worn through at the heel, mine no exception. I saw the tomb of the Virgin Mary and Joseph.

Last Sunday I went to Bethlehem, 5 mile South of Jerusalem. On the way out is the well of the Wise Men who drank of it as they went to Bethlehem. Then on the right hand side is the tomb of Rachel, near where the Hebron road forks for Bethlehem. Next we came to the well of Bethlehem that David's mighty men fetched the water from. Then we drove through the 10-12 f eet wide streets to the Church of the Nativity, where they show the stable, the manner where Joseph was when they told, him of the birth of Jesus. This church is divided amongst the Armenians, the Roman Catholics, the Abyssinians and the Russians, and is like a fortified castle with monks and nuns, and a small doorwa y of 4 feet high and heavy iron door. Seven British soldiers guard it day and night to keep Jews from entering and from quarrels inside amongst the fac tions. The windows have not been cleaned for ages because they could not agree about who should do it, so Allenby arranged that soldiers should do it once a year. The Turks had a law that who ever did the cleaning and repairing last had most right to the building. Wily Turk knew how to keep Christians fighting with one another to his own advantage.

Then we went to the Milk grotto, or cave, which is the underground church, built where the Virgin Mary spilt some of her mother milk and now they put some of this rock into rock cake which are sold in the markets of J erusalem to help mothers have plenty of milk for their children. We were of fered some to taste today in a store where they old oil, grain and rock _ ake. Then we went to the top of the hill and saw the plains of Bethlehem where shepherds watched their flocks by night and heard the angels sing "Peace on Earth, good will to men," so soon to be fulfilled in a most wonderful way. Even so, come Lord Jesus. We saw where David watched his flocks and where he killed Goliath some miles West of where Bethlehem sits. Strange thing that those who are most ready to build the tombs of the Prophets, are those who have been most the enemies of the True Prophet.

The people and habits of dress, and methods of work and living are very much the same as in Jesus ' time They are plowing the fields with the donkey, the ox and some times mixed. Very few own a horse, and you meet in the streets of Jerusalem, donkeys loaded and hustling through the narrow, crowded streets. The woman all carry on their heads and get most of it to do. You see the sheep and goats today as of old. Nearly every man from the country has either a camels hair garment or a sheepskin coat.

The Jews wailing place is about 100 yards of the old original wall of the Temple area, where they gather, specially on Friday, to weep and wail, and pray for the return of their Temple site again, and the Deliverer to come. They make a great noise, and more so when they see a stranger appear. The narrow way leading to it is lined with poor people of all kinds begging for Baksheesh, and ready to stick to you like a leech till you give them what they so much need and cry for. Russian Jews all come down in a wonderful fur hat and other marks of Sabbath wear. The Mohammedans keep Friday for their prayer day, the Jews keep Saturday, the Christians keep Sunday, and in other parts of the world they keep the other days.

No more wonderful picture can be seen than the contrast between the rich, well-fed Ecclesiastic, and the poor, clergy-ridden people who cling to their hovels as ants do to their hill of homes. I have no difficulty in seeing how long suffering God has been with the whole system of Temple-builders, whether it is done in name of Church or State, while the poor are made to crowd together anyway, anywhere. These Holy landlords have been raising rents very high and the poor suffer more. Government and religion that do these things, and which the League of Nations is going to add to very much as soon as the British take over control, can only find a suitable protest in the overthrow of the cities of the whole world by earthquake.

They will overthrow these two Witnesses at the end of the first 3-1/2 years, and He will overthrow their big buildings everywhere at the end of 7 years. I have had wonderful time with 2 Brahmina from India, and they have gone back with a Bible marked in the judgment places. I find more ears here than any place I have been, and they all are very glad and ready to hear. Have written Lloyd George today and would much enjoy writing more of my friends, I need not tell you that the more one sees and hears the lies told concerning the Holy Place, the gladder one is that we have the old Book with all it's tender memories and truthful revelation.

My dear Rose, Willie, Sarah, Joe & Co:

Why should the first fighting between the Christian West & Mohammedan East have taken place on the ground where the 7 churches of Asia mentioned in Rev. are, if it’s not to draw attention to Rev. as the Key to the worlds events taking place.

Your letter was welcome & your proposal more welcome re. going East, I'm sure you will find big business ahead in the Gospel & you need not fear, if we are in the Secret place, & content to stay there, we are under the shadow of the Almighty, who is able both to save & destroy. Watch the trouble in Ireland closely you will see it be the key to reading all that’s coming during the next 7 years.

Master the Beasts of Dan. VII- v.7 is the internation Soc­ialist Labor party that will become strong as the others become weak & will be Anti on every point the nations have been for. They will be against all present government, Capital, business & Commercial methods, Higher Education, Millitarism, Prohibition & church - They will nationalise everything, Railways, Shipping, production, consumption.

Their methods will be propaganda and organization; direct method by general strike in dealing with big things. They will bring this war into every heart, home, life. The dead will lie at every door. They will put every Mans hand against his fellow. They will be Anti-Everything-& win over the Lion, Bear & Leopard. A hungry lion, bear or leopard will soon weaken & those who can do this will grow stronger every day.

Nation against Nation- will emphasise Scotch, Irish, English, German & all other Nationalities. Kingdom against Kingdom, will stir up Religious hatred, such as we have seen in Ireland, so long & now so keen. You can see how this will affect City life & all its activities, so we have the beginning in Nationalist & Religious trouble, and the end or internationalism & Anti-Everything. This may be the meaning or devour break in pieces & stamp with the feet.

The great iron teeth of production & transportation will bite into everything cruelly, not sparing the very weakest, men, women, children, homes & business factories & all vested interests will perish like thorns under a pot. There will be no mercy & the fire will be heated with the Spirit of Revenge, because of wrongs done to labour- Law & order will perish, violence & brute force edged with hunger will control. So encourage everybody to prep­are by buying a little food for 3 months emergency, when they can do it. Remember the mob power in Sodom & the Safety of the mountains. Remember the hatred that will betray Son, brother, father & children to be killed. These are all very new conditions to us & they will become manifest very shortly. Remember you are providing a bit & sup for the 3 men who will come to Abram hungry THIRSTY. Lot did not have much for the 2 men who went down to get him out.

Ritzman's fire was to show us the danger of the well watered plain, To sell our property in the town & go to City & Store for the Mob who will pillage, Steal, Kill & Burn. The Mountain is where our eyes need to be lifted towards, so that there may be chance for Abram the friend of God, His family & servants, as well as the Lord & His Servants. What was on the Mountain was not in Sodom & vice verse.

The practical application of these things is in your hands amongst those who are His friends. There will be Lots & Lots Wives & children - Dunbar & Skinner have taught me the value of the other side. Millions who are alive in Europe, are because they buried food for dark dangerous days they saw ahead.

The Lion, Bear, Leopard & Labour will not consider Women & children in their wild beast rage on Combat. We don't pretend to save the world, but provide for those who are the children of the Friends of God. If we are to be Scattered to the mountains & gath­ered there from - Let that be the end in sight from the beginning of sorrows. There is not time nor opportunity to be lost & let it be an individual choice.

Those who are warned & fear can lift up their eyes. Those who are seeking to save their lives, now, will lose them, just as those who are willing to lose (loose?) now will save them. Don't let the strife between the herdmen take too much of your time. It won't profit. To wrangle with those whose eyes are on the Well watered plain of present privilege, will waste our time & use our strength. A clean cut line of action & definite policy will give all a chance & leave the door of hope open for the Lot family, who may go the other way & remain in contentment till the fire reaches there all.

We were so intent on the Drought & plagues (& not too much), that we did not see the detail of the world wide conflict between the 4 beasts - but everything comes at the right time & I'm sure it all works out well. If many in Ireland had heeded the weak words of warning I gave them the past year & half, they would be better prepared to meet what is on them now. They are raiding for arms in Ireland now, they will very soon be after something more valu­able- both military, Police, Sinn Feinn, as well as the hungry mobs from the cities. We are so apt to measure tomorrow by today, But this trouble is such as the world never has had & never will again.

So that nothing but the Spirit in us can see or understand what’s ahead. The Sons of God in Noah’s day knew all about the past as do all those who sit in Moses Seat, But they had no idea of what was coming & because of their wisdom & prudence could not believe when they heard. They judged anointing of God, by the knowledge they had gained, without the anointing of God. As with the Pharisee (Jew) so with the Pharisee (Gentile). These things are hid from the wise & prudent & revealed to babes & sucklings. Even so Father, for so it seemeth good in thy sight. Surely God’s ways are past finding out, if He reveal them not who can know? He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

They dig a pit & fall in to it. They do violence to others, that they may not see. They exalt themselves that they may fall all the further. They become the greatest in righteousness that they may show the contrast between Gods & the Devils. They reject others to show they are rejected. They measure others by their Sins that they may be judged by their own. They close mercy's door on others little dreaming that is the swing of the door that shuts them out.

Coming events cast their shadow before, God always brings about conditions that give every man or nation an opportunity to show what is in their own heart, so that they may judge themselves. The weeping is not because of what others do to then, but because of what they have done to others & themselves. Woe unto them that laugh now, blessed are ye that weep now, is still true. Woe unto you that are rich. Blessed are those who have been robbed or made poor; blessed is the man who has forgiven most, for that is the True test of Godliness. This is the meaning of “Blessed are the merciful.”

The Perfecting of the work of God in us is giving us a little taste of what Jesus & all His Servants & true Saints got, Not Pentecost, but Calvary in Shadow. This is the true meaning of the cross. If we don’t get the real, it will be because we are not worthy. Paul had the shadow before they cut his head off. Our Sufferings are comparatively light because we have had so little Grace & less glory these days when wickedness passes for grace & glory,

We will thank God some day for all that we have ever had to forgive. For by that means we are made like the pattern, any other pattern is a false pattern. How much we have dwelt on a pattern that meant others had nothing to forgive in us - "Falser than all fancy fathomed.” He who had nothing to forgive was most forgiving & least forgiven. What other way could God have ever made us like himself, than by sin working between man & man. Forgive us our sins as we forgive. The prayer book says, I believe in the forgiveness of sins, but it does not put much stress where we put so much.

If ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your father forgive you. Lead us not into temptation (shows that God will bring about conditions where we will be tested out as to our forgivingness. Deliver us from Evil (what results if we trifle with forgiving others). How willing people are to hear about God’s Love & forgiveness, how unwilling the wicked are to hear the condition. Blameless, can never mean in that we sin not, but that we forgive as we are forgiven. Plucking them as brands from the burn­ing, refers to saving people from trifling with mercy towards others, as the Tares do in their pride & wickedness.

How many have been caught & dragged into this position in their innocence, zeal & ignorance. Noah’s Bible was what God has written on every heart, we know by our own selfish human nature, the need & value of forgiveness, from God & man, therefore do to others what you would have them do to you. This is the root & foundation of all Gospel, when Justice takes the place of mercy, then it is wickedness. We see it amongst nations & men. This is where the League of Nations & the peace Treaty is such a failure. It has raised up Justice as the Standard of dealing & only prod­uces a Wild Beast Jungle where men will devour one another.

I am sending this to John Knox, so that if you have left Berkley & coming East they can sent it 1st to Alfie & then on to you. It will delay it some if you are in Berkley, little if you are on the way East. You can supply what he lacks & be a father to them all, as you move.

What is Joe & Sarah going to do? They will find enough bye & bye to do in the Gospel & both of them will be useful. The old Zeal, Love, Sacrifice & Suffering will all be needed, & you have more outward & more inward than we ever had. Go rather to the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel, is truer now than it ever was, the Broken hearted, prisoners, blind, bruised & bleed­ing, will wait your helpful message & if we don’t have all the power of it yet, its not far away, & it will awaken them, as Jesus gave to all, so don’t confine your message to the Outcasts, but through them seek to reach others through them. Every one has friends & foes & so it will spread quicker than in the old way & people are more hungry for what will enable them to see & understand than ever.

Don’t rely on the few in The Testimony, give to all men. If you can get a Synagogue, all the better, you wont need to work miss­ions as in the old way, The methods Jesus used will be the best; give them what you have as you go & you will find bigger ears as provid­ence develops conditions. The side issue in the selling will be an opportunity for doing both. Your friends & relatives will be glad to see you & we don't reckon on those who are against us, God can look after them. I am quite hungry to hear how things passed off in Ireland at the 12th July. All the various feast days have been so far days of increased violence.

What Derry has had gives a fair measure of what we may expect to see amongst the people of the Roman Catholic & Protestant, as well as between Mohammedan & Jew, Ireland, Palestine & Turkey, tou­ches the bitterest spots on the map - & indicates the National & Kingdom conflicts - which will be produced in American national & religionists- through what happens in their own country. You can see how strange blood will be stirred as well as R.C.s, through the con­flict, Rome has a good grip on Labour also the Jew, while Protest­antism has more the recognition of the government of Britain & U.S.A. It was the division between the Greek & R.C. church that gave Mohamedanism its power in the East & in Europe & certainly this will be the weak spot in fighting Mohamedanism again.

Write often & lets get busier every day for the time to work is near at hand. The night came when no man can work 6 years ago. The morning is nigh, when the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in his wings & herald in the shining of the true Light (the Lamb) in the midst of the Kingdom Set. We will only be like the servants up in the morning preparing for the Long day (millen­ial) & the full blaze of his Glory for all the earth. Now the Lord guide you, But I know from experience it’s only when we get going that we can know much of His guidance. It’s a great Joy to see a few friends who will be glad to see you in Philadelphia & you will find them good & hungry - For it’s very hard to give by letter comp­ared to Living words.

My dear Fladungs:

Many thanks for yours – Jan. 3rd & the promised box. Don't send either money or goods now, I have enough to finish the job with. Things are happening now we can see & they are bigger than I had expected, only since I heard of Mr. Ritzman's fire did I get a clear glimpse of the dangers to those who are looked up on as well off, have money and property. What happened to them is what you may expect the Bolshiviks to give you & it's not so far away. The poor will rob the rich by violence. Take your home, money, food & everything else, as they have in Russia. You will be well off if you have nothing to tempt them.

There are 4 wild beasts growing out of the sea of the peoples of the earth since the armistice.
Dan. 7: The Lion: Government backed by Capital Military
Bear: Bolshivik. The poor taking the power & money, confiscating, destroying, imprisoning and killing.
Leopard: The League of Nations. Seeking to make peace & only creating war, and no power to enforce her decisions.
V. 7: A fourth beast, dreadful & terrible, and strong exceedingly, with great iron teeth. It devoured & break in pieces & stamped the residue with the feet of it. It was diverse, or the opposite of all the other beasts that were before it, and it had 10 horns (all powerful). This last beast that is the last to appear & is only now beginning to show its horns & make itself felt, is the one we need to regard most & who will do the work.

The power of a World wide general strike will paralyze the world governments, Capitalist & armies. What about Labour saying to the Governments - you can't have oil, coal, munitions, arms or food. The Railway men won't carry them, dockers won't handle them, ships won't carry, factories won't produce them, oil men won't produce or refine them, miners won't dig coal. What will happen in 3 months? What will your life, money, home or stones be value for? Will not some food where no hungry dog can know, a quiet spot where hungry blood thirsty men - Bury & hide. The less you have in men's eyes, the safer you will be. Of course this won't come in a day; but this will be the general development & this war coming.

In Ireland today we have these 4 beasts gamboling like 4 big wild beast cubs,
Lion - English government 50,000 soldiers & 30,000 police.
Bear- “Sinn Fein.” The Irish poor banded together against the Rich, Gov. & Military & Police.
Leopard - League of Nations, who have stirred up the people all over the world to want Self Determination & liberty. They have given it to some & denied it to others. They give Self Determination to all peoples who were under German, Austrian, Turkish power, but they refuse it to all who have been under their control.

Labour in Ireland refuses to carry or handle either Police, Soldiers, arms, munitions or military equipment. This has spread all over Ireland in one month, and is the beginning of the World Wide conflict.

Get the Examiner every day & read it carefully; this is what “Watch” means. Then read the Bible and pray for understanding, so that you & family may know when to go & when to stay, for it will last during the whole 7 years; & you will be glad to have a little quiet safe spot far from the burning, thieving mob. I don't have much to see in the mountains either. Abram went to the mountains, when Lot went to the well watered plains, & you have all the guidance & help you need in all the little events in Lot's story & Noah's preparation.

Don't mind blind presumptuous people who have no fear because they have no vision. I know what I am talking about if they don't & if you err - let it be on Abram's side & Noah's side, not on Lot's or his wife's side; for their wisdom will be their folly & their selfish indolence & indifference will be their shame.

Ritzman’s fire took place just in the middle of the Railway strike to draw attention to what was coming & to give us warning; & is proof of God's favour to Ritzman & the Seal of God on the warning I have been giving all. In France the same thing happened in May. Italy has been more evident for the past 2 months, May, June & much worse than U.S.A or France. While in Ireland we have the conflict of all the 4 beasts & that because Ireland was the foundation of The Testimony; and the very spots where the fire of Revolution burns hottest, is where I began my work for God, & is another seal to me of God's working with me & through me then & now & my heart is rejoicing with trembling.

A year half ago, I gave many of the saints & workers in Ireland warning of what was coming & has come. They only trampled it under their feet a turned to rend me like hogs & dogs only can do. Now they are tasting it & if we don't learn now, we will by experience like all other fools.

What the League of Nations is doing with the 4 heads - England, France, Italy & Japan - to the defeated nations, the Labour World will do to them these next years. They will demand that the Lion & Leopard, set every nation free to settle what government they will have; & compel them to disarm & leave them standing on the feet of a man with the heart of man.

The Allies gave Kolach, Denikin & Yudenitch - arms & military equipment, as well as men to fight against the Bolshiviks - Labour, though not in sympathy with Bolshivik methods are with them in hearty sympathy - as well as with Ireland for getting Liberty from English domination. They are also against the Allies supplying arms to Poland. They have just decided in favour of Self Determination for India, Egypt & Ireland at their Conference as per Newspaper cutting enclosed.

They are behind the Railway men in Ireland who refuse to carry policemen or soldiers armed. In England they refused to carry ammunition to Poland; so the conflict is well begun, and labour the world over as solid on these points. So you can see that in 5 months from the day Noah entered the Ark, May 17th, the world will have become a hot spot, and the tops of the mountains of privilege in Government, Capital & Military will be up against big things that will overwhelm them, as the waters of the flood did the giants and men of renown, & all who did wickedly or were proud.

The Jews have got Palestine on 1st July; The British got the mandate 1st July, fulfilling Rev. 11:1-2.

Last Saturday, we had in Jerusalem Weekly, the notice of the arrival of British high Commissioner, Mr. Herbert Samuel, an English Jew; We also had the notice for the re survey of Palest¬ine by the British. This is the man going forth with the Reed of Rev. 11:1 - and the treading down of Jerusalem by the Gentiles for 3-1/2 years - showing that labour will have brought England's Mandate to an end by that time.

The setting up of the Kingdom (can't be far off) by the 2 witnesses & the 144,000 sealed witnesses. The finish of the League of Nations is near at hand. The War against Turkey has begun, but the rising in the Euphrates Valley has not come, but is in sight. The drought & plagues will only begin when the League finishes, the war begins & the 2 witnesses appear. All the dates I have given were the dates the League of Nations gave, and did not keep. Their false promises brought me from Los Angeles to England & from Eng. here. So that I might be in good time to know what I could not have known any other place or way. It also gave the wicked a good opportunity to blaspheme, gain-say & speak evil.

So that they may have good cause to repent be saved from their wickedness, or stiffen their neck & perish. Anybody that did not recognize that I always coupled the League saying “Peace & Safety” with the drought, were people who did not have either an honest heart or anointing of God. If people don't dwell in the secret place of the most High, & know His secrets, can't expect to abide under the shadow of the Almighty, & claim the Blessings of Ps. 91. If people add too or take from Rev., they will perish with the others. If virgins don't have vessels (mercy hearts) & oil in them, their light will go out, they will go out & be shut, and be told the reason when too late.

The fact that we have good crops, does not change the fact of drought coming with the 2 witnesses. If the League had finished their work last Aug. as they expected, or any of the other 7 times they said they expected too, there would have been no harvest. The League has not given any date for finishing their work since 1st April. So I can't give any. But every time they changed it, I did, & would tomorrow just the same; a year or a month don't alter the fact, & I would rather be a year ahead than a day behind.

P.S. This is one of the most important letters I have ever written. So let it be well and wisely used, & what you do in burying, don't trumpet it to the hungry wolves who are full now. Keep your own council, mind your own business, seek a vessel that will hold oil. For my oil can't save you if you don't have the mercy heart that he can fill, it's no use. If people knew all the hours my heart and mind have burned and boiled in getting these things, they might value them more and benefit by them. It’s a big job being purified, made white & tried, in order that you may understand, & I value very highly all who bear these marks.

Wm. Irvine's Letter to Fladungs

My dear Fladungs:

Many thanks for yours – Jan. 3rd & the promised box. Don't send either money or goods now, I have enough to finish the job with. Things are happening now we can see & they are bigger than I had expected, only since I heard of Mr. Ritzman's fire did I get a clear glimpse of the dangers to those who are looked up on as well off, have money and property. What happened to them is what you may expect the Bolshiviks to give you & it's not so far away. The poor will rob the rich by violence. Take your home, money, food & everything else, as they have in Russia. You will be well off if you have nothing to tempt them.

There are 4 wild beasts growing out of the sea of the peoples of the earth since the armistice.
Dan. 7: The Lion: Government backed by Capital Military
Bear: Bolshivik. The poor taking the power & money, confiscating, destroying, imprisoning and killing.
Leopard: The League of Nations. Seeking to make peace & only creating war, and no power to enforce her decisions.
V. 7: A fourth beast, dreadful & terrible, and strong exceedingly, with great iron teeth. It devoured & break in pieces & stamped the residue with the feet of it. It was diverse, or the opposite of all the other beasts that were before it, and it had 10 horns (all powerful). This last beast that is the last to appear & is only now beginning to show its horns & make itself felt, is the one we need to regard most & who will do the work.

The power of a World wide general strike will paralyze the world governments, Capitalist & armies. What about Labour saying to the Governments - you can't have oil, coal, munitions, arms or food. The Railway men won't carry them, dockers won't handle them, ships won't carry, factories won't produce them, oil men won't produce or refine them, miners won't dig coal. What will happen in 3 months? What will your life, money, home or stones be value for? Will not some food where no hungry dog can know, a quiet spot where hungry blood thirsty men - Bury & hide. The less you have in men's eyes, the safer you will be. Of course this won't come in a day; but this will be the general development & this war coming.

In Ireland today we have these 4 beasts gamboling like 4 big wild beast cubs
Lion - English government 50,000 soldiers & 30,000 police.
Bear- “Sinn Fein.” The Irish poor banded together against the Rich, Gov. & Military & Police.
Leopard - League of Nations, who have stirred up the people all over the world to want Self Determination & liberty. They have given it to some & denied it to others. They give Self Determination to all peoples who were under German, Austrian, Turkish power, but they refuse it to all who have been under their control.
Labour in Ireland refuses to carry or handle either Police, Soldiers, arms, munitions or military equipment. This has spread all over Ireland in one month, and is the beginning of the World Wide conflict.

Get the Examiner every day & read it carefully; this is what “Watch” means. Then read the Bible and pray for understanding, so that you & family may know when to go & when to stay, for it will last during the whole 7 years; & you will be glad to have a little quiet safe spot far from the burning, thieving mob. I don't have much to see in the mountains either. Abram went to the mountains, when Lot went to the well watered plains, & you have all the guidance & help you need in all the little events in Lot's story & Noah's preparation.

Don't mind blind presumptuous people who have no fear because they have no vision. I know what I am talking about if they don't & if you err - let it be on Abram's side & Noah's side, not on Lot's or his wife's side; for their wisdom will be their folly & their selfish indolence & indifference will be their shame.

Ritzman’s fire took place just in the middle of the Railway strike to draw attention to what was coming & to give us warning; & is proof of God's favour to Ritzman & the Seal of God on the warning I have been giving all. In France the same thing happened in May. Italy has been more evident for the past 2 months, May, June & much worse than U.S.A or France. While in Ireland we have the conflict of all the 4 beasts & that because Ireland was the foundation of The Testimony; and the very spots where the fire of Revolution burns hottest, is where I began my work for God, & is another seal to me of God's working with me & through me then & now & my heart is rejoicing with trembling.

A year half ago, I gave many of the saints & workers in Ireland warning of what was coming & has come. They only trampled it under their feet a turned to rend me like hogs & dogs only can do. Now they are tasting it & if we don't learn now, we will by experience like all other fools.

What the League of Nations is doing with the 4 heads - England, France, Italy & Japan - to the defeated nations, the Labour World will do to them these next years. They will demand that the Lion & Leopard, set every nation free to settle what government they will have; & compel them to disarm & leave them standing on the feet of a man with the heart of man.

The Allies gave Kolach, Denikin & Yudenitch - arms & military equipment, as well as men to fight against the Bolshiviks - Labour, though not in sympathy with Bolshivik methods are with them in hearty sympathy - as well as with Ireland for getting Liberty from English domination. They are also against the Allies supplying arms to Poland. They have just decided in favour of Self Determination for India, Egypt & Ireland at their Conference as per Newspaper cutting enclosed.

They are behind the Railway men in Ireland who refuse to carry policemen or soldiers armed. In England they refused to carry ammunition to Poland; so the conflict is well begun, and labour the world over as solid on these points. So you can see that in 5 months from the day Noah entered the Ark, May 17th, the world will have become a hot spot, and the tops of the mountains of privilege in Government, Capital & Military will be up against big things that will overwhelm them, as the waters of the flood did the giants and men of renown, & all who did wickedly or were proud.

The Jews have got Palestine on 1st July; The British got the mandate 1st July, fulfilling Rev. 11:1-2.

Last Saturday, we had in Jerusalem Weekly, the notice of the arrival of British high Commissioner, Mr. Herbert Samuel, an English Jew; We also had the notice for the re survey of Palest¬ine by the British. This is the man going forth with the Reed of Rev. 11:1 - and the treading down of Jerusalem by the Gentiles for 3-1/2 years - showing that labour will have brought England's Mandate to an end by that time.

The setting up of the Kingdom (can't be far off) by the 2 witnesses & the 144,000 sealed witnesses. The finish of the League of Nations is near at hand. The War against Turkey has begun, but the rising in the Euphrates Valley has not come, but is in sight. The drought & plagues will only begin when the League finishes, the war begins & the 2 witnesses appear. All the dates I have given were the dates the League of Nations gave, and did not keep. Their false promises brought me from Los Angeles to England & from Eng. here. So that I might be in good time to know what I could not have known any other place or way. It also gave the wicked a good opportunity to blaspheme, gain-say & speak evil.

So that they may have good cause to repent be saved from their wickedness, or stiffen their neck & perish. Anybody that did not recognize that I always coupled the League saying “Peace & Safety” with the drought, were people who did not have either an honest heart or anointing of God. If people don't dwell in the secret place of the most High, & know His secrets, can't expect to abide under the shadow of the Almighty, & claim the Blessings of Ps. 91. If people add too or take from Rev., they will perish with the others. If virgins don't have vessels (mercy hearts) & oil in them, their light will go out, they will go out & be shut, and be told the reason when too late.

The fact that we have good crops, does not change the fact of drought coming with the 2 witnesses. If the League had finished their work last Aug. as they expected, or any of the other 7 times they said they expected too, there would have been no harvest. The League has not given any date for finishing their work since 1st April. So I can't give any. But every time they changed it, I did, & would tomorrow just the same; a year or a month don't alter the fact, & I would rather be a year ahead than a day behind.

P.S. This is one of the most important letters I have ever written. So let it be well and wisely used, & what you do in burying, don't trumpet it to the hungry wolves who are full now. Keep your own council, mind your own business, seek a vessel that will hold oil. For my oil can't save you if you don't have the mercy heart that he can fill, it's no use. If people knew all the hours my heart and mind have burned and boiled in getting these things, they might value them more and benefit by them. It’s a big job being purified, made white & tried, in order that you may understand, & I value very highly all who bear these marks. Wm. I

Wm. Irvine’s Letter to: Ritzmans, Alhambra, California

My Dear Ritzmans:

I was looking at John the Baptist’s Message yesterday, and can see that it gives the reasons why all flesh don’t see the Salvation of God and who are likely to see it, or by whom it will be seen. “Prepare ye the way of the Lord,” was for John’s time—it must be for these/those days more particularly. The Voice of one crying in the wilderness, where the Lord’s power is not, and cannot be manifested.

A wilderness is a place where man’s presence has not produced fruitfulness. Much of the land in California was a wilderness till man made it a paradise, so the presence of the Lord will produce a ranch with every thing that God and man needs, when He gets the right to labor and produce the fruit and gifts of the spirit. “Make His Paths straight,” is a very straight, clean, clear message—illustrated by the danger of the Sadducee and the Pharisee serpent seed, who are the source of the valleys, mountains, crookedness and roughness of human life, and further illustrated in the 3 classes He spoke to regarding giving to the needy, etc.

1st -the Low place – is poverty thru men’s own fault, so that they may claim from others labor. Not how much, but how we get, in the sweat of another.

2nd – Having by the sweat of our own face and the Blessing of God, more than we need, and refusing to give to those who are the needy, honest poor, not the Valley poor who make a habit of living on others, or sharing what others have, and never have to give in exchange.

3rd – The Crooked method of taking more or giving less value in the sweat of our face, for what is produced by the sweat of others.

4th – The Rough method of taking by violence more than we are allowed thru power of any source. A bum, a hog, a crook or serpent, a wolf.

1st – The poverty of our making that has nothing to give to those in “real need,” but rather to live on what others should give to the real needy.

2nd – The prosperity and hard heartedness that refuses to consider the poor who are always with us, as a means of true grace and a test for our heart condition. Many find excuse in the “Valley Poor,” for hardening their hearts, but the Lord considers that there is no set circle, where we don’t find both sorts of poor. There is a big difference between those who make it a habit of life of always needing, and those who by force of circumstances are in need. Valley Poor may be the result of champagne appetite and a beer income or earning capacity; or it may be thru missed opportunity. We can’t sow and grow any time, any way, and get the results, and results count when it comes to eating.

3rd – Craft in exchange, may be illustrated in the tax-gatherers who had the Government behind them, and were superior in education to the common crowd, and so could act crookedly.

4th The Soldiers not only had the authority, but the power to take by force.

These are human conditions which make it possible for people to be saved and have the power of God manifested. There are none who have not been guilty of breeches here, but it covers those whose intentions, desires, words and works are characterized by these marks, not the incidentals nor the accidentals, and their Faith perfected, that they might also go and do likewise.

And the greatest evidence of Victory is that they all died as He died, and counted it a wasted life if they failed to get their Master’s end. Peter even refused to be crucified with his head up – and was put on the Cross head downward. This was the mark of the prize of the High Calling in Christ Jesus—just to be His Sealed and send one, honored of God in blessing to others, then rejected and despised, and numbered amongst transgressors. Such gives us great comfort and hope and is good for us that we have the Scriptures to comfort and encourage our hearts in reading of what and how they endured the Cross, despising the shame, that we may sit down with those who have suffered and reign where we paid the price.

The consciousness of our unworthiness, almost makes us give it all to others, and refuse to put our name there. But that in itself is a source of comfort, for when God has destroyed our pride and iniquity, there is no more any hope in ourselves, but in Him and His mercy.

The destruction of our self righteousness is only to make room for His and so the purifying, making white and trying is only the removing of the doss from the silver and gold, as we see in Job. Job’s story shows us the dross coming to the surface, and the skimming of it off. I’m sure Job enjoys all his speeches now, better than he did when they were made, and all who have ever gone through the fire, and been refined, can say AMEN.

Wm. Irvine’s Letter to: Ritzmans, Alhambra, California
September 5, 1920

My dear Ritzmans:

Wm. Edwards sent on yours to him of June 27th, which reached me yesterday, just in time for being able to reply to it. If I had got it a week earlier, I could not have written what I can today.

You remember when Jesus came to the darkest hour just before the dawn. He had come to Jerusalem to be crucified. Mary as usual made a feast for Jesus and the Disciples, and brought forth her Alabaster Box, of very precious ointment to anoint Him for His Burial while yet alive. You can see how Mary came to anoint Him when it was too late (He had risen) Mary only of all the friends Jesus had was able to see, not because she had a head BUT BECAUSE SHE HAD A TRUE HEART.

Judas was still one of the 12, and had given little evidence that he belonged to the deceitful, accusing seed of Cain that was hounding Jesus to death as a sinner, heretic, blasphemer and mover of sedition. When the odor of the ointment filled the house, Judas said, "Ought not this to have been sold, and given to the poor?" And so said all the disciples. They were all indignant at this waste, and today when food is so high, and scarce, your loose in setting to your seal to what God said thru my lips, and which was a very great comfort to me has made manifest many hearts, even those who are my Disciples, and also given Judas an opportunity to betray the object of their hatred.

Jesus said, "The poor ye have always with you, me ye have not always," and it is true you can always find plenty who are in need because of the selfishness in the world. But very seldom is it our privilege to take part in showing real love, and confidence in the object of the devil's hatred in seeking to stand for the Mercy of God to men. In this I am not wanting either to flatter you or myself. We will have enough justification when the record comes to be written, and wherever the story of the love of God, the death of Jesus and the comfort of the Spirit is told to men, there will also the sufferings of those who have suffered in seeking to defend such a story in shame, rejection, ignominy, cross, and loss.

To suffer for covering the sins of humanity and accusing the accusing bruising seed is the work of all God's True Servants and no Judas hearted person can have part or lot in the matter, and the Judas hearted will begin to show it thru their treachery, and betrayal, just as the true Disciple who may have been deceived into condemnation or want of sympathy will have their loss perfected for the greater tests that are yet to come.

I have watched your struggles for a good number of years in Fillmore with your neighbors, and Testimony, and am not ignorant of all your sufferings. I have watched the struggle in your family — in your wife's suffering, in Willie, in your being German stock and all it has meant, and have no hesitation in saying that you seem a man after God's own heart being perfected for a place in the Kingdom of the meek, and your heart will have only cause for rejoicing in all that you have gone thru. Your store of Alabaster Box of Ointment very precious which might have been given to the poor, has been triumphed over all their blind accusing, and condemnings and have shown your willingness to lose in showing the love and confidence in the Man smeared over with all the filth the Anti-Christ seed can gather to throw.

The Anointed of God has had that in every age, and only one was without some justification for such treatment. My wanderings in the word, the work I did, the suffering I have had, by being in California, and now in Jerusalem, are just a little understood today as were the wanderings of Jesus, and the Apostles in their day even to themselves but afterwards they are all as clear as they once were dark. California is the spot on earth’s surface where the civilization of Moses day' and Jesus’ day meets. But they both began in Jerusalem or in these parts. My first experience in Frisco, my last experience of Los Angeles, my first trip down the coast. The 2 noticeable earthquakes in 21st June and 17th July, and the things that happened between these dates--10 days after from August 1st to 20th August, are very eloquent not to speak of 100's of other things too numerous to mention.

But the most comforting is the way Daniel opened up at the beginning of August and the way Johns Epistles, Gospel and Revelation opened up at the end of August. John's Epistles were written in the year 90 A.D. when the Anti-Christian, and Christian controversy began in the church of his day over the old question of what shall we do with the sinners in the church. Shall we turn our back on them and cast them out? Then cast out all who reject or show mercy toward them?

John's 1st Epistle is an exposition of the doctrine of Christ showing the Christian and Anti-Christian doctrine of methods identifying them with Cain and Abel.

John 2 shows writing to the Elect Lady, or the rejected by the Church Bride. He finished by sending the salutation of the Elect Lady when he was writing from John 3: Epistles gives us 4 persons, John the Apostle whose letters, and fellows were rejected by the Church. Gains in pocket, and body who suffered in pocket and body, but who prospered in soul, walked in Truth, and showed fellowship to those who stood with John. In the treatment of sinners as Jesus did, and in the accusing of excuses as Jesus did.

Dietrophes who had prominence among them would not receive John's letter or friends, prating with malicious words refusing those whom John sent; nor would he allow others to do so. Casting them out of the Church who do receive, John says beloved follow that which is Good (to others) and pay the price. He that doeth good is of God. He that doeth evil hath not seen God tho he may have heard and said much about Him.

Demetrious who was the latest cast out of the Church was the man of good report amongst all, and of the servants of God who wore in touch with John, and from John's own experience of Him. But he was cast out for the stand he took for the Truth. John had written giving them clear revelation of what he had seen in Jesus whom he lived with, and handled with his hands, and now declared to them John's Gospel is written to prove it from the doctrine of Christ given in the Epistle's is right, and proves it from the attitude and actions, and words of Jesus towards to sinners of His day, and the righteous Pharisees and Scribes, Anti-Christian spirited people who professed to be God's people, Temple, Servants, and children. This throws much light on John's Gospel, and explains many things which used to be dark to me.

But I can see all the clearest Revelation l: have had has been thru John's Gospel. The marriage of Cana of Galilee and scourging out of the Temple; the dealing with Nicodemus who was the product of the Anti-Christian Church, and shows what tare means, had everything but what God can do for a man. Made Nicodemus ashamed to come by day.

John 4: shows us the effect of Pharieeism on a woman, made the woman ashamed to go amongst the holy women by day, kept the woman helpless in sin, and the man holy righteous and scriptural and honours, wickedness, darkness, bondage, and death.

John 5: shows what it did for the blind, halt, withered, impotent waiting for the moving of the water, but the man that nobody would help into the water to be healed, because he was a sinner. He chooses out, and heals, and sends away with his bed on his shoulders to reveal the hearts of the wicked people, once he thot were good and of God.

John 6: shows the bread that comes down from heaven to meet the needs of all men and make us givers of bread rather than givers of stones. See the multitude who turn away from him because they were not willing (to eat His Flesh and drink his Blood) in other words, they were not willing to be to the others what He was to them.

John 7: shows us that Living Water is not by believing in the holy people and temple, solemn assembly with all its creeds, and holy ritual, but in living as he lived amongst men. So that God could live in Him, and then Living Waters would flow from the lips of the mercy hearted temple of God, refreshing ALL who drink and bringing them to know the well springing within them.

John 8: shows us darkness, and light in operation. The woman taken in adultery is the illustration of this applied to human life. They Judge after the flesh, and say she ought to be stoned according to Moses. The scripture by which Jesus and the Pharisee were guided. They spy, apprehend, accuse, condemn, affront, stone, and kill. Jesus covers her by accusing them of sin as common to all the human race. The writing on the ground typifies as what God does by His Finger on the dust of the whole human race. All are guilty before God.

There is none righteous, no not one, the ministry of the Church is not spying, apprehending, accusing, stoning, and killing, but protecting from such, and giving hope, help, life and power to overcome. There is no humiliation, pain penalty, promise or confession. The discussion that follows is wonderful as they accuse Him, and He them, ending in them taking up stones to stone Him, in justifying what He had done by saying He was the I AM, the same forever to every sinner, and every Pharisee. Jesus held Himself, passed out of the Temple going thru the midst of them, and so passed by. Fateful words, showing what the I Am is to all the Devil possessed seed, and revealing why He healed the man who was the sinner, and left the multitudes at the pool of Siloam.

John 10: Service, true and false paying the price, entering by the door having power only by the Voice. The other climbing up using violence over those who have not heard the Voice, and became wolves in sheep clothing; hirelings who leave the sheep when the wolf comes as happens sooner or later whenever there are some sheep. The Good Shepherd battles to the death for the sheep. Sheep against the wolves, As John was doing–Paul did to the day of his death. There are many hirelings who have fled when the wolf got in, but there are some who face the wolf, and the danger and deliver some even tho he himself be torn and bleeding, as the sheep are.

This is the battle that is going on now and we will gather up the remains of the sheep, many or few sooner or later, and the scattered had fulls of wool, and take out of the mouth the work, even the part he has not yet devoured.

John 11: shows what the temple without God and the Temple with God does for man, revealed in Lazarus, and the part the ministry plays in Mary, Martha, Death, a tomb, and a stone rolled to keep you in, and kept life, light and power of God out, stinking with pride, and wickedness and death revealed. As they seek to kill what Jesus made alive. No wonder Mary, and Martha did what they did for Jesus Lazarus, and the Disciples.

Chapters l5 to 18: shows what true fellowship will be, cleansing, comforting, making fit for service, and suffering, and making partakers of eternal life, which is to know God, be one within heart end life.

Chapter l9: shows what wickedness will do for us, and they who are our enemies, makes us willing to do for sinners, or makes us willing to kill the righteous, what they had heard, and could net hardly believe was true, and the revelation of Himself to them on earth. His going up, and coming back, and they with who had seen Him after the resurrection all the Apostles had not been put to death by the Roman (then) Gov't to please the Jews who were the Chief accusers till they were destroyed in 70 A.D. after the death of Paul.

This shows that the Pagan, tart, heart, and the Jewish heart, beat in unison, 20 years after the Jews had been scattered. The controversy began in the Church, and not it was Pagan (highly educated) Jewish very religious, scriptural, and holy, and also Anti-Christian Church that would not tolerate sin of any kind in the Church or anybody that speak a word for Mercy for the sinners of the Church.

The only reward John got for his Gospel was more hatred and bitterness. He was accused, tried, and ordered to be cast into a tank of burning oil, such was their fury, and only Pagan Rome saved him from such a death, by commuting to be sent for life to the Isle of Patmos as a Roman Slave, useful in fishing for some Roman Fishermen. In 96 A.D. John wrote Revelation showing the outcome of the whole Christian and Anti-Christian conflict in the world & history, the history of Jew and Gentile and that of every little Church and person. It must have seemed wild, and outlandish, and proof of old age dotage, and Devil possession. For we find him released as such, and allowed to die amongst a few yet his friends, only able to say, "Little Children Love one Another."

So that if Johns a Gospel put him in Patmos, the foolishness of Revelation took him out of it. How Revelation defies the power of Anti-Christians to get anything out of it. I speak from experience, as being largely tainted, as all men must be living in these days, but when one becomes the chief of Sinners, and the Anointed of God and has to fight for his life for 6 years and for those who are the sheep of God cast down, and cast out, it helps to open our eyes, both to what man is in his natural state, what man is when Devil possessed, and what man is when God possessed to be a sinner brings little hatred compared to being the justifiers of your own, and others for the sins of the whole world, thru the death of the Son of God, expressing in love of God, and the comfort, and consolation of the Holy Spirit.

But it's sweet to know that the end of the controversy which has raged amongst Angels and men on the earth in every age of the 6,000 years past is about to be settled once and forever by the destruction from the earth of every wicked seed. Angel or men, and then bring to reign for 1,000 years of those who have suffered in this conflict from Abel to the Ritzman's, and I trust his whole family, for they also have suffered with you.

The breaking of your Alabaster Box will then fill the whole house, and your story will be told in all the world, as many others will be told to show the difference between darkness, and light, Love, and hatred, true righteousness, and false, iniquity, and truth, and how perfectly God's providence works to make manifest the heart of Judas, and the heart of Peter in the great conflict. John and his friends, little know the power and value of the words they spoke, and the way they suffered, and the loss of health, and property they endured along with all the shame, and ignominy that was heaped on them, as well as the conflict it brought into their own mind, and heart, hike, and friends. But today as they sit panting in Heaven to see the fulfillment of all their thots, hope, aspirations of the wicked. Their hearts are filling up with praises to Him who washed us from our sins in his own Blood, and made us Kings, and Priests unto God, and the whole world.

The value of your cellar in $ of food value is small compared to the value put on in having it done in believing God, John and I regarding the times in which we live, and that it may be only like the castle of sand the child would make on the seashore for pleasure, it will please the Father to see the weakest attempt to help as it would displease to see some person come, and destroy with the feet what we had tried to build with our best skill, and efforts, and at cost, tons in toil, and suffering, much thru not clearly seeing the wickedness of the wicked amongst the Disciples, and the value of His Anointing.

If the wicked can take away from us all we have and are, even life itself, they can't take away the Anointing God has given which is the spirit that supported Him in death, and raised Him from the dead and seated on the Throne from above all dominion on the earth, and will place us by His side either in Heaven or on Earth thru a long Eternity with a heart to love the sinners, pay the price of fellowship with the sinners, and triumph in redeeming men from being human, to being Divine with the same narks God has revealed, in all dealings with men.

For as the Heavens are high above the earth, so are his ways and that higher than the best of men's thots in Love, Grace, Mercy and Peace to all in need who call upon Him or His name as revealed in Jesus. John's Epistles, gospel, and Revelation would be little value, but for the fire after being scoffed and mocked at. But they were found amongst cherished treasures of those who were persecuted for having them, and all still in the old Book amongst the Blood stained records of the seed of Abel who have suffered at the heads of Cain, his seed thru 6,000 years, and whose innocent Blood is now to be avenged on all who dwell on the face of the whole earth.

To be able to see, and say the things all the Prophets saw and said is about to be fulfilled is enough reward for me. If I was to go out into oblivion forever a fitting reward for all who had tasted the bitterness of ones fellows, much or little from 0 years or 30,000 for that part of it. If we get the mark then we know we shall have the price, and the crowning day has come in sight if not fulfilled.

So cheer up old man and if you have not room to skip and shout take a little trip to the country and shout yourself hoarse in defiance of the Devil and his seed and the triumph of Our Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ and let your wife have a share in it as she has in the sufferings.

My Dear John,

I got yrs today. I have no desire to hurt you or waste words or pen and ink. Honestly I believe its a battle to the death for your soul and that of others through you. I believe Revelation is the Gospel for these days and you deliberately refuse to believe it and justify the wicked antichrist seed who masquerade in name of God and His church. I say their condemnation and that of all men is that they can't see where we are and whats going on. Gods Love and Mercy and Gospel is to purify make white and try His Bride and reveal these things to them, while they go on rich and increased in goods and have need of nothing and know not that they are wretched, miserable poor blind and naked and to cover and comfort them is surely the worst kind of wickedness. You can pray, praise and preach all you want. But let it be in harmony with Him who died and rose again and is now the Judge of all men and soon coming to take His throne as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

I know the message I give wld cause you to find out many of yr best friends unanointed and full of the accusing spirit of the Devil. But you wld find out the pearls or jewels whom He is anxious to gather out of the rubbish heap of proud and wicked who are to be destroyed from off the earth by the judgements which are appearing every place, and only need an interpreter to give the honest sheep a chance for deliverance. If you and they are not brought into the secret place, how can you expect to be under the shadow of the Almighty when the storm breaks if you need Ps. 91 fulfilled to you.

Is. 54:17 is mine John and I know what I say is the righteousness that comes from God not from men or Devils, as the antichrist seed have. I am not writing you things I have no foundation for, I am giving you a new book with fresh Revelation of what the Lord is doing and wants His people to do and be - with Him in His work of destroying every other kingdom and setting up a Kingdom that will last forever. We are not going back on the old Gospel we are only adding to it what is needed for the time of the fullness of the Gentiles when the Jews return to Palestine as the Sign.

When you might have been delivering men and women from the wrath that rests on them and you justify yourself and others who are in the greatest danger - you stand by the Temple of today as the Jews stood by the Temple of their day - and reject the true Temple and service of the Living God because it dont appeal to your eyes blinded by the wickedness thro having false conceptions of God and His Gospel, and the traditions that have come down to us by all kinds of false prophets who are and have been before us - There were many prophets in Israel who thot the few true prophets were mad and bad enough to kill who preached peace, when there is no peace. But wrath hanging over God's people not for their sins - but for their wicked condemnation for the sins of the people for whom Jesus died.

There may be a few sheep in the many dog dens which you call churches or assemblies that you might have reached and given them the comfort help and hope as they lie bleeding from the wounds that the wolves in sheeps clothing have given them for their sins or shortcomings. What cld yr gospel do for my own flesh and blood who are robbed broken-hearted prisoners blind and bruised by a set of antichristian villains who masquerade in name of God. If you had sought to strengthen my hands and do what John the Apostle did to the people of the church who were suffering as they are now and I do 12 hours every day for far more than you ever dream of, you wld have been a great comfort to God, them and me. But you go on to justify the wickedness of the wicked and rob the righteous of the Righteousness which is from God - as the prophets of Israel did in Isaiahs day - Is. V:20-25.

The time when John the apostle wrote the 3 Epistles Johns Gospel & Rev. was during the last years of his life and ministry when he was rejected by the antichristians in the church because he sought to cover and heal the sick sheep whom the others were casting out & driving away. He wrote the three Epistles in 90 AD. Gospel in 93 - and Revelation in 96 - and these past 6 years I have been fighting the same battle, & now am not writing Rev. but seeing it fulfilled as John has written.

II John gives us the Doctrine of Christ in opposition to the doctrine of the antichrist. It begins by some
going out from the church because others were too much sinners for them. This caused the antichristians to rise & put the sinners out and take control, & cast out the Christians who sought to shew mercy to the church sinners - John took their part & was rejected with them.

II Ep. John is writing to the Elect Lady, or the few who were the rejected by the church, & warns them not to receive such as being the doctrine that violates mercy & rejects saints for their sins.

III John shews us this in 3 individuals - Gaius - who was poor & broken in health thro the treatment he had received at the hands of the antichristian saints who tho they had nothing against Gaius and Demetrius had cast them out with all who were for the Christian mercy standard in dealing with sinners in the church.

Johns Gospel was written to still comfort & strengthen the rejected saints by showing them that Jesus had the same battle to fight in His day as they were fighting. The wedding at Cana of Gallilee where Jesus went with his disciples drank wine & made it by the power of God. Knowing that it wld give offense & occasion to the Devil possessed holy people to speak evil & do evil to Him. In the same chapter, you find Him go up to the temple & scourge it out as a den of thieves who were there to rob people of the Mercy of God & make money by doing it. This throws light on Johns attitude & and has been the key to my actions & teaching, condemning the accusers & covering the things in Christian life which have been made sins by the antichristian seed of our day - almost everything that the church today makes an excuse for beating the true sheep of God are not sins in Gods sight at all. But have been made sins by the abominable trash who pass as Gods gold when they are only Dirt with a thin coating of gold got from others labours. Rather than the true Brick of Pure Gold God wants men to be. The Prodigal was a brick of Pure gold, the elder brother was only a gold brick to deceive the eyes of men & hide the heart of God from a poor perishing world. What men of the antichristian Spirit call holiness, I call Devilry & Jesus did the same.

You can see what the Temple & people & Ministry did for Nicodemus, woman of Samaria & the important man at the Pool of Siloam - They puffed up Nicodemus with knowledge & pride that made him ashamed to come to Jesus by day & they oppressed the poor woman till she was ashamed to come to the well when others came and they left the poor man lying there with no one to help him into the pool because he was suffering for being a sinner. That's what you call the Temple & people of God do today.

Now you can see what the true Temple & people in whom God is do. He humbles the pride & shews up the foolishness of all his knowledge & leads him to the true knowledge of God.

He speaks to the woman who nobody wld look at or speak to & speaks words of life to her.

He heals the man who nobody wld help into the pool & sends him away with his bed on his shoulder to draw out the hateful poison of accusation from the violators of the mercy of God.

Jn. VI Shews us the true bread from heaven that meets the needs of men rather than the stone throwing gospel of the Devil that destroys men.

Jn. VII Shews us the Water of life compared to the Water of Death - Holy accusation of men for their sins which are the very means of bringing men to feel the need of God.

Jn. VIII Shews us the true Light of the world and the true Darkness of the whole Christian world & I have never yet seen the preacher who wld do what Jesus did for this woman. He first accuses the accusers & silenced them & sent them away ashamed. This is Light much needed today. The light that shews up the hateful devil possessed seed whose business it is to find out the sins of others that they may accuse them, & I have done a good deal of this & know how to find out what kind of heart is in a man before he can know what I'm doing - so that he can't fool me with holy profession or words. This attitude towards sins of the flesh is the root of all darkness & powerlessness of the Gospel. For God hates that heart in a man today as much as Jesus hated it in the Pharisee. If all the accusers of sinners for sin wld go away, God cld soon deal with the sinners. But the dirty abominable rubbish gather around the sinner & Saviour & hinder Gods work. This is the darkness we have on our hands today. Harlot hearted hypocrites who forget their own sins in taking too much stock of others & and giving stones in place of bread & condemnation in place of warm love of true forgiveness which & regenerates the sinners. They are found every where & and never more than in the place you call assemblies & other harlot hearted people & places. Sin we will always have, but when the meek of the earth & the Saviour of Sinners are left to deal with it without the wicked accusing seed. God's gospel will be the Power of God with Salvation in a way we have never known. You will get a 1000 justifiers of wickedness today amongst the people who profess to be His Temple for one who will be an accuser of the wicked and a Justifier of the sinner.

Jn. IX Shews us what is done to keep men blind & setting in darkness thro their relationship to the Temple where God is supposed to be but where the Devil has his headquarters. The true Temple & people bring him sight, light & liberty from the bondage & darkness he has been in from his birth. What do most people get at their Spiritual birth as they call it but into darkness, blindness & bondage. They never get to know the Living Son of God outside the Camp who gives liberty from bondage of Phariseeism. Take any or all the mission halls you have ever known & they are all on the same old blind lines with intolerable bondage to some many or few. Devil possessed Pharisees who forever shut out whatever Temple God wld send to bring sight light & liberty to the poor victims in their power under guise of being their converts.

X Service of 2 kinds the one leaving us the victims of wolves in sheeps clothing & the other the deliverer from the wolf. The wolf does not come till you have sheep John & I'm seeking to deliver my sheep from the grievous wolves who have entered in unawares & risen up from amongst those who professed thro me. It's been dangerous to dirty work but I will deliver them from the wolf ere I quit.

John XI The Temple &c brought death & a Tomb to Lazarus. The living Temple brought life liberty & comfort.

Jn. XII Shews the feast of Love Light & Life - along side the feast of hatred darkness & death.

Jn. XIII to XVII Shews true Fellowship never seen in any company I've ever been in - most fellowship are smelling yr feet to be offended in them. Rather than preparing themselves to cleanse your feet for yr comfort. The fellowship of the true seed of God leads to oneness with each other & Father Son & Holy Sp., eternal life. The fellowship of the antichrist seed leads to eternal death. Strife division & eternal death.

Jn. XVIII - XIX Antichristian fellowship in Crucifying the best & scattering the weak - and the gathering together of the Tares to burn. It comes at the end of every true servants work & and is the mark of the prize & and what I am now having.

Jn. XX - XXI Shews the finish for the Antichristian & the true seed of God. The Antichristians trying to worship in heaven whom they crucifyed on earth. So many are always trying to justify their wickedness and looking up to heaven & into the Book and missing the very men the book speaks of. Have the Jews ever seen their mistake they justify their wickedness today just as they did then & the religious world is not a whit better. What Joy & comfort Johns epistles & Gospel must have brought to the Sheep who had been driven away & and made the outcasts of the church as the Jews had done in their day. Johns gospel was an exposition of the doctrine of Christ contained in his first Epistle, proved from the life & practice of Jesus as John had seen & handled Jesus the word of life.

Johns Rev - What a joy & comfort it must have brought to the outcasts to see the end of all these things foreshadowed & the day when a new Heaven & New Earth wld come where there wld be none of their holy abominable rubbish who had mistaken the tree of Good & evil for the Tree of Life. The fruit of which is Love, Joy & peace not for the hypocritical Pharisee who wants to eat the fruit which is meant for the sinner while they give the sinner hatred, mourning & torment. The fruit of the Spirit is not for those who are whole but for those who are sick - How many holy hypocrites I have heard rejoice in what they enjoy of the fruit of the Tree of Life, when they had only hatred, misery, torment, impatience, cruelty, badness, unbelief & self glorification for the needy sinner in their midst. Who can but rejoice that all this Antichristianity is to forever cast into the pit where it belongs with the Devil & his angels forever. This is the desire of all who are the Bride of Christ on Earth and in heaven & one longs for to see it accomplished & for this my heart pants. But God is cutting a Stone out of the Mountain which will smite the whole Kingdoms of the world & become a mountain which will fill the whole earth & I hope you may become part of this mountain John. Now I have written this candidly & with no desire to hurt but rather help you I know well where you are and its a bigger job getting where God wants you to be than you dream of & it wont be done either by prayer praise preaching or any other soft soap but by clear realisation of who you are in His sight & a true repentance or turning from all yr attempts to go on in wicked sinlessness Justifying the ungodly counsel that passes for Bible and Spiritual teaching - Standing in the way of sinners rather than bring them to God & sitting in the seat of the Scorner at those who wld and cld deliver you from death.

Wicked hearted people read the Bible, prayed preached & praised John & made themselves believe they were the cream of God while they made out that Jesus & the apostles were the scum of the earth, to be got rid of at any cost & who were willing to have the guilt of their blood on them & their children.

The people you plead for are the present day successors of these men who did that & are deceived by the same Devil that deceived them & they never knew it till they found out too late. I am sending this to W. Pattison for you in the hope that he may think it worth copying for to help others, as well as yourself. Now don't fool yourself thinking that praying for me will cause me to mistake darkness for Light. I have paid a big price & got the Pearl of Great Price & no Gold brick will tempt me to part with it.

Wm. Irvine's Letter To: George Gerow

My dear George,

Your parcel of fruit, that causes me to see and feel the difference between the Evil Tree that brings forth for others, thorns and thistles; and the Good Tree that produces good fruit. We need not make any mistake--the Tree is known by its fruit in the vegetable world, so that we may be able to judge by the same senses, the fruit of those who profess His name.

I need not tell you that the sweetest thing in the world to me would be to hear that your Mother has been raised up; but if not, I have no fear of her being the Elect of God, and she will be there when we gather to the Marriage after we have seen the _____ laid to the root of the Tree and His fan purged the flow of chaff and gathered the wheat into His grainary, as the seed of the Kingdom on earth for a thousand years.

Matthew 7—shows us as in a looking glass, the 2 sorts who profess to hear His words. The one class—hear and profess, but “do not;” the other—hear and obey. The test of Obedience “is to do to others, what we would have them do to us,” or otherwise. This is the human interpretation of all the Law and the Prophets.

Matthew 7:12. The other is doing to others what He has done for us; this is the Divine interpretation; the other is proof that He has written His law on our hearts, which is evidenced in our doing to others what He has done for us. To violate these 2 laws—human and divine--shows that we are victims of the Devil and fallen by our pride and iniquity, and as the angels did who are Devils now.

These are the 2 classes of seed in Matthew 7:
The Judger – the judged
The mote detectors – the accused
The meters out to others of punishment – condemned
The ignorant of the log in their eye – the sin conscious.
The hypocrite who wants to take out the mote before the beam – the true who are self condemned.
The hogs, dogs who trample and tear the Holy God-given things (and those who give them) – the guileless who hardly know dog from sheep.
Those who give stones, serpent and a shut door to those who ask for bread, fish and open door – the hungry and thirsty for fellowship
The wide gate and broad way of neither being true to the human or divine – love law bound by law of love.
The false prophet, a ravening wolf in sheep’s clothing, taking by force from the sheep. The true prophet who is sacrificed for sheep.
The Tree that gives thorns and thistles in place of figs and grapes – those who are crowned and bedded in thorns and thistles.
----kes the good and give the evil to hurt those who are valuable in Lord, but who do not the will of the Father, given in law of our nature or His – The wounded, the ashamed to lift up the head.

Those whose profession is loud, fruitful in preaching, converts and wonderful works, but not produced by what the Lord has given or done. All they do is by the power gotten from others. Those who can only tell of failure and lost usefulness.

Wm. Irvine's Letter To: Alphie and Sarah McGowan (Magowan)

My dear Alphie and Sarah:

Here is a little more some call heresy, but which seems very good to me. He drove out the man who had heard the Voice of the Lord God in the Garden, after they had been clothed in sheep’s wool so had a right to the Tree of Life; but lest he should use his own will in the matter, He drove them out and placed Cherubims (no doubt guardian Angel who express themselves in Providence) and a flaming sword (hot persecution) that turns every way to keep the accusing seed from the Tree of Life, and to cut us off from it if we become tainted with the same disease.

Jesus became the Tree of Life when the Spirit came upon Him without measure, (when He had gone out to hear John - - the Voice crying in the wilderness) then He was led of the Spirit to the wilderness to be tested, angels ministering unto Him. What comfort and confidence this must have given unto Him during His future ministry, loneliness and suffering! The Spirit leading, angels ministering, and the sword all working together to protect the Tree of Life, cutting off the unmerciful hearts and ears, and bringing the merciful and needy near.

Notice the operation of the sword in the synagogue, the gracious words and the sword. Many widows were in Israel, and many lepers, but none privileged to partake. See how the accusing seed cut themselves off, and cast Him out to the needy outside, to whom the Anointing was sent. The Cherubims and sword had done their work in guarding the Tree with its healing power to those who were needy and knew it.

Then John 2: Cana of Galilee and the scourging of the Temple is a beautiful opening for John's Gospel which covers exactly the same ground. Cherubims and the sword keeping the Way to the words of Eternal Life. Then the same operation in Nicodemus' case. See how perfectly Nicodemus is guided blind-folded through No Man's Land to the Tree of Life that he might hear and live; while the whole accusing seed were asleep. Then the Providential meeting with the Woman- every feature arranged, even to the disciples going away to buy meat. How impossible these two interviews would have been in the presence of serpent seed.

Then the man at the pool who had no one to help him, just as Nicodemus and the woman had no one to help them. Jesus goes to the man prepared, and Providence guides to the Tree off Life. This adds untold beauty to the three incidents in such a variety of condition and circumstance; the highest, the lowest and the most hopeless.

John 6: the sifting of the crowd; those who sought the bread by which many live, and the bread from Heaven from the Tree of Life. Many went back, but Peter said, “To whom can we go, thou alone hast the words of Eternal Life?" It is the Spirit which giveth Life, the flesh profiteth you nothing. I may ascend, but the Spirit remained in you; the words that I speak, they are Spirit and they are Life. But there are some of you which believe not, for Jesus knew from the beginnings who should betray Him. Those who were influenced by what was outward, but not partakers of the Spirit and words He spoke. Here the Cherubims and sword are seen working to separate between those who are influenced by everything but the Words or Voice; and those who are partakers of the Spirit and Life by the Voice. The few grafted onto the Tree, the many turned away. Yet Judas was Providentially kept for a fuller purpose later on, to cover the needs of the whole future, as Demas was in Paul's case.

Chap. 7: is a wonderful exhibition of the Cherubims and sword working to keep the way of the Tree of Life by scattering and driving off the accusers. His brethren up to the feast of Tabernacle with the crowd according to tradition and custom and He says "I go not up. My time is not yet fully come." The Jews with murder in their hearts, and He with the words of Life; the conflict is beautiful and sweet. Those who hear the words are compelled and those who don't are compelled.

Nicodemus says, "Does our law judge any man before it hear him or knoweth what he doeth?" The whole is divided, between the accusers and excusers. They replied "Search and see; for out of Galilee ariseth no prophets. They were convinced by the Scriptures and Rabbinical record. Every man went to his own house, Jesus went to the Mount of Olive: the Cherubims and sword watching over His body and Spirit. The killers of his body, and His words in Jerusalem, and they comforting Him on the Mount.

Chap. 8: Making manifest light and darkness. See how the Providence of the Cherubim was providing the scene for the next day, in the woman, her accusers and the Pharisees. How perfectly they are kept apart, and the way to the Tree always open, and free from the accusing seed; which would have made its life-giving power impossible. The same Providence and sword go right through the whole of the incidents of the Life of Jesus to the Cross, where we see him between two thieves, giving Life to those who can receive it; and death to those who can't.

This throws much light on the Providences of all the Anointed of God separating into two crowds; all who heard the Voice or became part of the Tree of Life, as perfectly as Cain and Abel were made manifest, showing how perfectly the Voice does its work, in spite of opposition. His purpose of Grace is complete wherever it begins in hearing. This is the faith of the Saints, There is nothing left to chance: once people have heard the Voice and have been brought out of the Garden, and he sees that the Tree of Life is kept from all who would corrupt or steal its fruit. This makes clear the Calling and Choosing: between those who get Mercy, and those who give it -- which is the only proof they have obtained it.

The true Mercy of God is revealed in what happened to Adam after he had been deceived by the Serpent - the devil in Scribe and Pharisee man. Once He saves, He keeps; as we see in after results. We can see how many after they hear the Voice, hide and go from tree to tree in the garden, but in it they stay, showing the response they have made. So we have an unerring, unfailing Providence working to plant amongst the trees of the Garden, or put out and keep out. This explains what has happened in my life for 27 years, in spite of all my struggling, striving and unbelief. I can see His hand from the night I bowed my knees. During these past 6 years how eagerly I would have welcomed the Voice from any source, but the saddest part was, there was no Voice outside, and I was full of unbelief in the Voice inside. But He was watching and working, and the Cherubims were on guard as ever.

This is the faith of Heb. 11. One can see what a struggle it has been to many recorded there; and how foolish they will see they were in reading His workings as all must be in proportion to their wisdom in the flesh. How we do cling to appearances, and despise the Judgment which is always the same. If He speaks, let all the earth keep silent. If He is silent, then we know. This is Mercy and Judgment. David sings so sweetly of it in Psa. 110. Jesus said, “As I hear I speak." The Pharisee judged by what they saw and thought and heard from man. The same Voice that is ever new needs to be heard in clearing up the rubbish and building up what will never be destroyed.

One can pity the world when we see the terrible disappointment that awaits it. Unbelief is waiting for the things to come to pass that God has in mind. Heb. 11: and then believing would be a good description of many people's faith. Faith, the result of His fellowship, is the substance (not the shadow) the reality is what He thinks and what He says to those who have ears to hear. The real ground work for all that is erected is in Him, and by Him to us, and by us to the world.

The Testimony was made by not what now appears, but what has no place in what now appears. It was God speaking and working; now the works appear, but what produced it is not there. The substance has gone and the things which do appear are only like the things by which the people were deceived in Jesus' time.

Look up the Voice Psalm. Psalm 17: is a good outline of His coming works. The long-looked for day of Peace and Safety is near, and we can surely see the stage set for other things. So we will see the things now which do appear, after He has spoken. What will the blind say? They won't see when they appear, any more than when He spoke. They will be like the elder brother, blaming and accusing the Father, as well as his brother, and still be huffed. Poor people! What a mess the devil can make of them, when they indulge their pride, and practice iniquity.

My dear Guys,

Was glad to see how things are working out with you. “All things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose of making us like His Son.” Those who are called not to be made like His Son, find many things work out to their destruction, and they just love the things which make them unlike Him, as much as we often hate the things which are going to make us like.

They are the vessels to dishonor and their iniquity and wickedness is the method where by we are perfected in Godliness though it means affliction and persecution. This is the trial of our faith and the faith patience of the Saints. Paul finished up Rom. 8 “Who shall separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Before that he had said, “Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect.”

It is God that justifies. “Who is he that condemneth?” You can see in Matthew 7, those who build on the rock and those who build on the sand; those who judge and those who are judged; those that measure and those who receive; those with a log in their eye who want to take the mote out of our eye. Those who enter by the narrow gate and way and who are always willing to obey; and the others who do very much what suits them. The one gets life and the other death after walking in the light as He is in John 8; the other in darkness of death who do not follow Him as He walked. False prophets their fruits, outwardly sheep, inwardly ravening wolves who produce fruits that receive figs and grapes, but produce thorns and briars for others. They are known by what they give to others. The vine and sheep neither have thorns and thistles nor do the sheep bite and devour.

The rain descends, the flood comes, the wind blows, and we see the houses fall or stand according to whether they were built on the Rock of surrender to God, that makes it possible for Him to reveal Christ in them; if in them the proof is through them to others, so that what we give is the proof of what we have received from God. We cannot give what we have not got and it’s foolish for us to expect from Cain what Abel had to give. What Cain gave is the proof of what he had not received. We are as sheep for the slaughter, they are the slaughterers. “For thy sake we are killed all the day long.” Cain seed are the killers. I am glad that God counted your home and love worthy of being tested and you can both rejoice at the outcome. You need not fear the most severe test these days, for His arm is uplifted to give recompense to every seed on earth, nations, kingdoms and individuals of every sort.

Those who suffer with Him shall reign—those who cause the suffering shall weep and wail and gnash their teeth when they realize the awful consequences of bringing His wrath upon themselves. It seems so easy and pleasing to cause suffering to other and so hard to take it for His name sake, but this light affliction which is but for a moment compared to the long results both in reigning and suffering, which is the consequences in both cases. Esau made Jacob suffer for 25 years, but he suffered the rest of his life and shed bitter tears without finding any comfort or hope.

Abel suffered for a short time compared to Cain who was afraid the rest of his life. Moses suffered 40 years from Pharoah, afraid to go back into Egypt. Pharoah ended with his hosts in the Red Sea—Moses after 40 years in the wilderness, enjoyed the smile and power of God in delivering and perfecting others – was buried by the Lord on the mount. God would not allow men even the honour of burying the man whom they had made suffer, though they owed everything to him under God.

Joseph suffered for a short time in Egypt – see the life of honour he found in Egypt and the noble revenge he had on his brethren – they suffered to their dying day from the memory of what they had done through envy and jealousy, so that even from the human life standpoint, it pays to suffer rather than to cause suffering and the reward is as sure in the one case as the others, and the eternal reward will be of the same nature. Saul made David suffer to his own death, but David reigned for 40 years over Israel, when Saul was in his grave dishonoured.

Does your sister mean in her letter that some of the saints treated her that way on the train and threatened to use a revolver, or was it some stranger. I would be glad to hear the facts for they are quite foreign to The Testimony, as a whole.

You managed your affairs well in getting a home in that quiet spot, and it is one of the very healthiest on the Pacific Coast, being 39 miles from the sea and on the Mt. side. It also saves the rent difficulty and you can make it more comfortable as you go along. See that the papers are made safe, both for you and those who gave you the money. Business is business, and keeps long friends and retains God’s blessing in all things. How far are you from the car line?

The fellowship of saints will get sweeter and purer as the days go by. We can see that those who bear the marks of saints have benefited already, and what will the future mean for all of us. Surely it’s better to be a helper than a hurter; either in word or deed, and when we have such an impartial judge on the throne, we need not fear what men can do unto us.

Britain had a very anxious time for 2 weeks, but is settled meantime and we may see “peace and safety” proclaimed any day now, and then everybody will be satisfied that the time has come or recompense on both sides.

I shall write your sister later on, but you can give her the benefit of yours and also the enclosed letters as well as any others about. If you have chickens you will need to try and get some green feed or eat them – it is very costly to feed chicks with bought feed only – and this may have been one reason for parting with the place. Put in all the garden you can, if you have water and don’t forget that plenty of attention to the hoe does much to help growth, but guess you know more than I do about these things.

Wm. Irvine's Letter to: Lees

My Dear Lees:

The thing I like best about yr. letters is that you get along so well together. This is the cream of life, human & divine. I never hear a word of yr. younger sister where & how is she. Very sorry to hear of Mr. McMichel - & feel that God is in it for his salvation. Tell him so from me & give him my heartiest sympathy. He's tasting the bitterness of the iniquity & wickedness of the whole world. We seldom hear of the awfuler consequences of sparing the rod & spoiling the child. If men have done it - God wont spare them who have done it.

The whole world is taking council against the Lord & His anointed - saying let us break their bands asunder & cast away the cords that bind or restrain them; no judgment wrath or consequences for men or nations, high or low, rich or poor, civilized or heathen. People wont believe that the Lord has anything to do with present conditions. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh. The Lord will have them all in derision. Then shall He speak to them in His wrath & vex them in His sore displeasure & set up His King & Kingdom when He is destroying theirs.

We had the 1st meeting of League of Nations this wk. We have got a Republican gov. in U.S.A. Thanks to the womens vote. They are generally on the side of those who have most money like all the good religious, political & educational people. The Lord is generally on the other side & this time I'm sure He is. They are scuttling the ship & don't know it; all their wisdom & skill is only making the snare that will destroy them.

We will have two world wide powers - The League of Nations formed by the late victors in the War & International Party who are world wide & in sympathy with the vanquished in the WAR. The end of the war is not far off now as they are forcing Turkey & Hungary to ratify the peace treaty they have signed months ago. There is a sort of peace all round which pleases the conquerors, but only aggravates the others. Its just as little feared today as it was in 1914, when the WAR began & I'm surer than ever that "Peace & Safety" said by the League of Nations will be the beginning of world wide trouble & the beginning of the setting up of the Kingdom of God, as the other kingdoms are destroyed. What they had hoped to do in 6 months has taken more than 2 years & is not finished yet & this is what I've been waiting and watching for, & surely the world condition is worse than ever, whereas every body expected it to be better. The old strong powers are stronger than ever & the others are more determined than ever.

The world has got so many fair promises - which cant be fulfilled & neither party are able or willing to do it, or recognise it. So there can be only one way out of it - thro conflict Racially, Politically, Religiously, Educationally, Economically. These are all nothing but threatened conflicts & only held back by hopes that fail to materialise. No man or nation is big enough to cope with the conditions & few are even willing to recognise the consequences - they are so terrible & big.

Who can imagine all the propaganda going on - or the bitterness being created on both sides. The spirit of the newly war rich & the newly war poor who have more money for their labour & less value for it. Its like increasing the pigs feed by putting in sand - sawdust & shavings - which will only aggravate the big beast. For the big beast is not the best paid of the working class - but the bigger beast who can't make ends meet. The poor have been getting poorer, the rich richer. The rich get the bigger share of what exists for food & clothing, while the poor get less in spite. High wages & high cost of living is all right & can agree till unemployment sets in thro the poorer class not being able to buy what they need that is over produced thro under consumption. High costs of necessaries use up all the money the big mass have need of to buy other things which are being produced.

The whole is like a maze or snare that no man or men seem to be able to grasp & all are so bent on their own self-seeking that they can't see its become like a millstone around their neck, & there seems no way out of it. The world is divided between the needy & the greedy & this will show itself in sympathy with the League of Nations, the greedy & the Internationalist movement created by the needy. This is Gods marshalling of two camps who will destroy each other - as we have seen it in Russia. Its like 2 men fighting for the same loaf & the loaf being destroyed in the conflict - leaving both weak & hungry as well as angry & wrathful, vengeful & ready to kill or destroy. The Submarines destroyed much in trying to stop food reaching the camp of their enemies. So will it be again only in the world wide sense, & God will give all the cure on the feet of it by drought & plagues & c. which will come on them. While they are fighting about what they have it will all have gone & there will be little to fight about.

I wont write you more this time as you can get a read of Irvine Laws letter - & send it on to him. You silly thing not to know the Devil when he is in the pulpit - trying to make you his captive. You must tell Wallace to give you a good beating the next time you give the Devil such a chance of wrecking your home, health, comfort & happiness. The Devil is giving strong drink because he knows his time is short.
